HT1459 i don't have my ipod cause its stolen can i do another step to help pleaseeee

can u please help me find it
<Personal Information Edited By Host>

The only way to locate it is if you were using the "Find My Device" feature of iCloud.  If you are then you can login to icloud.com and try and locate the iPod.
Other than that, the only thing you can do is, if you have the serial number, to give that to local law enforcement so that way if they come in contact with it, they can contact you.

  • I don't have my ipod touch with me how can i download the 2.0.2 update?

I'm at a friends house and i don't have my Ipod touch, so how can i download the new update

    Hi,
You don't give much away there!
My guess, you don't have an internet connection, or fast one at least, at home?
I think you would need your Touch with you to get the 2.0.2 update.
    Can't help, sorry,

  • The folder "cores" can't be opened because you don't have permission to see its contents.

HELP, I did something very stupid.  I used my installation disk  and went into the disk utility and change the Volume Scheme to partition  it to 1 volume & named it Macintosh.  The prior hard drive name was possiby Macintosh HD and I renamed it Macintosh (this wiped out all the previous information).  Unfortunately I did not use the Time Machine to backup my information, but I use my Iomega  500GB eGo USB 2.0/FireWire 400/FireWire 800 Portable Hard Drive to backup my information .  I tried to retrieve the backup and it says that I do not have permission since I changed the previous hard drive’s  name.  What can I do to restore my old hard drive information. Shown below is what it shows: The folder “cores” can’t be opened because you don’t have permission to see its contents. Much appreciated if someone could help me.

I am panicking now and I am so afraid that I lost all my information by what I did.
Don't be upset. From what you've said, I don't see any reason to believe that you lost anything. You did make a lot of mistakes, though, starting with having only one backup and not testing it.
I did not use any software when I did the backup.
Yes, you did. You can't do anything with a computer without using software. Possibly what you mean is that you used the Finder. That's software. Or it may have been something else.
Hopefully you can help me , but if you can't,  do you think if I contact someone at Apple can?
I'll try to help you as time permits, but it might make you feel better to make an appointment at the "Genius Bar" of a local Apple Store. They aren't really geniuses and I can't promise they'll help you with this problem, but it doesn't cost anything.

  • I have a iPad were I have opened I tunes match ect linked to my pc I have since found my old ipod classic which I have loads of music on but that was all linked to a mac which I don't have anymore, is there anyway I can sync them both

I have a iPad were I have opened I tunes match ect linked to my pc I have since found my old ipod classic which I have loads of music on but that was all linked to a mac which I don't have anymore, is there anyway I can sync them both without loosing my music, if I plug my ipod into PC it won't read it

You need to transfer the music from your iPod on to your iTunes library on your PC, since that is where you are currently syncing and where you are signed into iTunes Match.  It doesn't matter that you were previously syncing it with a Mac, and you won't need to reinstall iTunes on your PC.  But you will have to use 3rd party software such as Touch Copy to transfer any music not purchased from the iTunes store from your iPod to your iTunes library.  Here's another guide on this, which is shoter and you may find easier to follow: Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive.  Also, if you're using iTunes 11, go to View>Show Sidebar.  This will make it easier to follow along with these guides.

  • HT4557 I don't have the 'iPod ' option in my iPad in settings menu as shown here. I have music option shown. I have 5.1 os installed. How to enable sharing/streaming of music now?

I don't have the 'iPod ' option in my iPad in settings menu as shown here. I have music option shown. I have 5.1.1 os installed. How to enable sharing/streaming of music now?

    Yes.
You need to,turn on Home Sharing in iTunes on the computer. The computer and the iPad will need to be on the same wireless network. You will also need to make sure the same AppleID accosiared with your iTunes is also added to the Music app in Settings.

  • HT201250 i'm getting message: can't be opened because you don't have permission to see its contents. and he operation can't be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8003).

I took my computer in to have the Backup restored onto my computer after having a new harddrive put onto my 1year 1/2 old MacBook Pro. When i got it home there was a new User that i had to logout of to getting into my normal user. Don't know why this was, just figured the Mac guys that installed my backup did this for some odd reason. Today i could not open any of my files in the backup on the time machine. All the folder had line going thought them and when i clicked on them I revieved this message: can’t be opened because you don’t have permission to see its contents. After talking with that same mac store. I decided to just delete all the files out of the time machine as it was just put back on my computer and i have everything i need. Hours later when i tried to empty the trash i got this messsage: the operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8003).
Any advise how to fix my problem?
    thanks in advance

While you see a single trash can, in reality there are trash folders on each mounted volume.  I don't use TM but what you are describing implies that a TM drive is no different with the way trash is treated.  So when the TM is unmounted the trash folder on there is gone and thus the trash looks empty.  Remount the drive, the trash folder on it now causes the trashcan to look like something is in it.
If TrashIt! could not remove the file, I'm sorry, you will need to use the terminal.  We can do this one step at a time so you only have to copy/paste the lines into terminal (except the first time).  So launch Terminal (in utilities).  You might want to make the window that is shown a bit larger with the grow box since it's pretty small.
This first line is the only exception to the copy/pasting since you have to enter some information.
    sudo ls -laR /Volumes/your-TM-volume-name/.Trashes
where your-TM-volume-name is the name of your TM volume.  That's the part you have to fill in since I don't know it.
When you hit return the sudo in that command will cause a prompt for your admin password.  Enter it and hit return again.  Note the password will not be shown as you type it.  Post the results so I can tell you what to do next.
Note this ls command is not doing anything but listing the files in the TM's .Trashes folder.  Remember I said each drive has it's own trash folder.  .Trashes is it.

  • The folder "com.apple.TCC" can't be opened because you don't have permission to see its contents.

I've noticed a folder with a 'no access' sign on it's bottom right corner - com.apple.TCC - and when i try to open it it says "The folder “com.apple.TCC” can’t be opened because you don’t have permission to see its contents."
Does anyone know what this is and why i can't access it? No-one else uses this macbook but me.
Also, as of this afternoon, I can't two finger scroll on any web browser?
    Thanks.

    Back up all data.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, they may not work as described.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box markedAllow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Triple-click anywhere in the following line on this page to select it:
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR.. ; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_ ; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_ ; chmod -R -N ~ $_ ; } 2> /dev/null
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use  another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
You'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take a few minutes to run, or perhaps longer if you have literally millions of files in your home folder. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1 or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • "...because you don't have permission to see its contents."

I've got a 500GB Seagate external harddrive I back my stuff up on. I did a recent backup of my new macbook pro that replaced my old one. Suddenly my external harddrive icon is turquoise instead of orange – but what's more is that my previous harddrive backup files now all have locked folders. For instance, if I want to access my old music library from the backup, it says "The folder “Music” can’t be opened because you don’t have permission to see its contents." I've tried command+i to changed the permissions but that didn't do squat. Now I have a handy-dandy harddrive of INACCESSIBLE files that I had backed up (so i wouldn't LOSE anything...). Somebody. Please.

Select the text on the line below by dragging across it. Don't include the blank space at the end of the line. Only the text should be highlighted.
    ls -@Odeln
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V), then press the space bar.
Now switch to the Finder and and select one of the items that are causing the problem. Drag the item into the Terminal window. More text will be added to what you entered.
Click in the Terminal window to activate it, then press return.
Post any lines of output that appear below what you entered — the text, please, not a screenshot.
If any personal information appears in the output, edit before posting, but don’t remove the context.

If i don't have the find my iphone app, can I still find my lost itouch?

If you didn't enable it on your iPod before it was lost you can't.  If you did, you may be able to locate it by going to icloud.com from your computer browser, as explained here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmfc0f2442.

  • How do I enter an itunes U course code in iTunes on a PC? My teacher gave me a course code to enroll in their course (unpublished), but I don't have an iPad or iPhone. Can I use iTunes on my PC?

How do I enter an iTunes U course code in iTunes on a PC? My teacher gave me a course code to enroll in their course (unpublished), but I don't have an iPad or iPhone. Can I use iTunes on my PC? I don't see a place to enter my enrollment code. I also tried using the link sent to enroll but it doesn't work either.  Am I out of luck?

As I noted in the other thread:
There are two kinds of content available, "courses" and "collections". If you look at the iTunes U section on the iTunes Store, you'll note some are square (collection) and some have a faux wire binder and tabs (course); you can subscribe and watch collections from within iTunes, but courses only work on iOS.
The content you see in iTunes on your PC are "collections", while your teacher has created a "course". Collections are more like podcasts, with only audio or video episodes available. Courses have more structure and richer content, including assignments and iOS-specific materials like App Store links and Pages documents.
While the distinction is not particularly relevant for iOS users – one can subscribe to either type – it is admittedly confusing for desktop users since the distinction and terminology are not explicitly defined.
    Does that clarify matters somewhat?

  • I backed up my old core 2 duo imac and and was trying to transfer files to my new 2011 imac and when i go to oppen a folder from what i transferred it says "The folder "Music" can't be opened because you don't have permission to see its contents."?

I backed up my old core 2 duo imac and and was trying to transfer files to my new 2011 imac and when i go to oppen a folder from what i transferred it says "The folder “Music” can’t be opened because you don’t have permission to see its contents".  Why cant i access the files from my old mac?  I tried the time machine and that isnt working either.  I have files that I need to use on my new mac, all my old programs and such.  I thought they said it was easy to get your files from one mac to another.  Please help.

Your account names are probably different on the two Macs. If you know the UNIX command line, open a terminal window and run:
    $ id
You should see a line that starts with something like this:
    uid=501(your_user_id_here)
now check the owner of the folder you copied over:
    $ ls -ld Music
    drwx------+ 8 some_user_id_here  staff  272 May 14 16:08 Music
Do the IDs match? If not, you could change the ownership. Say your id is "johnsmith"
    $ chown -R johnsmith Music
Now try and access it with iTunes.

  • I have an Ipod 5 and you can not listen to music unless you have headphone plugged in

I have an Ipod 5 and you can not listen to music unless you have headphones plugged in

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

The only way to solve this error is to edit the host file in your system. All you need to do is to add the following line at the end of the host file:
    74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com

  • Just got an ipad air and while creating my apple ID with credit card, I got to itunes gift card/ itunes gift section and was asked to supply a CODE to proceed with the form but I don't have the code. please how how can i get the code?

Just got an ipad air and why creating my apple ID with credit card, a CODE was requested in the itunes gift card/ itunes gift in order to preceed with the form but I don't have the code. Please how can I find the code so as to enable me complete the form successfully. Thanks alot

The iTunes gift card field is optional, you don't have to fill it in - leave it blank if you don't have a gift card.
iTunes gift cards are country-specific (they can only be used in their country of issue), and they are not available in all countries - so you might not be able to dill it anyway.
