2nd gen iPod touch only displays start-up apple icon, and is not recognized by iTunes - what to do?

Thanks, but I've checked those articles out already. I drained the battery and finally got the needs charge (battery w/red line + arrow pointing to a charging bolt), I plugged the USB into the laptop and held down the start key +home key until I saw the apple logo. However, it still was not recognized by itunes. It's been plugged in for over an hour now and the screen is cycling apple logo/low battery (battery w/red line)/and black screen.

  • Laptop not loading past start up apple icon, please help ?

I Turn the laptop on and it gets to where the screen is light grey and the apple icon is there and the little loading circle is going but after a while it stops loading and just goes to a blank screen, does anyone why it's doing this ?

An early 2011 MBP came with Snow Leopard disks.  Insert the original installation disk in the DVD drive slot and start up the MBP with the C key held down.
Proceed with the install instructions until you see a menu bar in top of the display.
From the menu bar, click on UTILITIES.
From the drop down menu, click on DISK UTILITY.
Select Disk Utility>First Aid and run Verify and Repair.
    What are the results?
    Ciao.

  • Iphone not starting up, apple icon fading at start up

My iphone 5 will not turn on, the silver apple icon appears for 5 seconds and then thats it, the screen shuts off. when i plugged the phone into a charger or computer, the silver apple icon will appear and then fades out along with the screen display with some small vertical lines running down through the screen this will occur repeatedly until i unplugged my iphone and shut it off my holding the power button.. hopefully someone can give me some guidance on this issue, thanks!

    Hello simmer5555,
Thanks for the question, that definitely sounds frustrating. We'll need to isolate this issue to see if it is hardware related. To accomplish this, we'll need to restore the iPhone with a computer running iTunes.
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
If you are unable to do so, please see the following:
iOS: Unable to update or restore
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
Note: Restoring your iPhone will erase all contents, however if you have a previous backup you may be able to restore from it afterwards.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

You need to re-format the hard drive on the iPod. Not knowing which generation it is, I'll assume you're using USB. The procudure goes like this: first un-install both iTunes and any updater software you may have. Download the latest updater and run it first. Hopefully, the computer will recognize the iPod and you can proceed to re-format the iPod using the updater. Once that is done, disconnect the iPod. Now,install iTunes. Re-connect the iPod and iTunes will give the option of either synching automatically at that moment or not synching at all.

  • My iphone 4 displays connect to itunes on start however when you connect it to the PC it will not start. the apple icon comes on the goes off again. please advice

the iphone 4 runs iOS 4.3, it did not incur any physical damage. The phone went off and when i connected it to the charger it brought up the cable icon and arrow saying connect to itunes. i tried connecting to the PC however it will not boot. it only only starts to the point of displaying the apple sign and then restarts. this sequence repeats.
please advice on what to do?

you can try downloading tiny umbrella and kicking it out of dfu mode... that may or may not work other wise you will have to make a trip to the apple store for replacement

  • 2010 mackbook pro stuck on start up screen

I bought a used 2010 Macbook Pro and it worked just fine. I tried to do a factory restore with the disk that the old owner provided to me. I did the reset and noticed that she gave me a 2011 disk. It would never get pass the apple startup screen after that. I tried to do a factory restore (command s)thinking that it would bring it back to before I did the restore with the 2011 disk and now it is still stuck on start up apple screen but I can hear the tutorial on how to set up your macbook pro. I will get the 2010 disk but for right now would like to be able to use the laptop. Help

Command s boot enters Single User mode, so all you need to do is hold the power button down and reboot again (without command s) and you should see the welcome video for setup.
2010 MacBook Pro's need the machine specific dark disks (not white) from Apple.
Also try a factory restore again, (hold c or option/alt to boot) this time use Disk Uitltiy (under the Utilites menu) to erase the ENTIRE drive, then quit and install OS X 10.6

  • Powerbook stuck on apple icon screen

When I try to start my powerbook it makes the chime then is stuck on the grey screen with the apple icon. No response from any keys. There is a dvd in the drive, so i can't put my install disk in it.
I've read that people were able to boot from the disk and then use disk utility, but i'm unaware of how to do this.
Also, i don't have my install disk with me, (i'm at college).
Any help would be great since it is out of warranty. Thanks!

Target Disc mode mounts the hard drives attached (internal or external) to one Mac, on a second Mac. This is done for many reasons, sometimes to move files, other times to run various utilities on the main drive of a computer without having to boot from the CD/DVD.
The process for you is quite simple. Take the powered-off Powerbook with the problem drive and connect it to a second powered-on Mac with a FireWire cable. Then, power on the Powerbook while holding down the T key on the keyboard of said PowerBook. Very quickly, a symbol that looks like a Y should appear on the screen of the PowerBook and very quickly afterword any working disc on the Powerbook should show up on the 2nd Mac.
The program I use to recover (NOT REPAIR) bad hard drives is called Data Rescue II. I have used it in a number of cases to rescue the data on hard drives that no other utility can do anything with (even see sometimes). You run it on the 2nd Mac, and hope that it sees the bad drive on the PowerBook at which point you can get what you can off it (you need to have another drive to put the recovered data). You can try Data Rescue for free, it will show you if it can see the drive and what it can see on it. To recover data, you have to buy the utility. And yes, it can find stuff on drives that look empty.
    Good Luck.
