When you import music and videos, symbols indicate the status. Other symbols enable you to do tasks.

Does anyone know what "movie contains an invalid data reference" means.
We have three Mac Pros running OS X 10.6 on a network. One Mac often gives this error message with movie files in Quicktime 7.6 for files which are fine on the other Macs. Is there a way I can investigate what is actually going wrong? Thanks!
That usually means that iPhoto can't find a clip or a shot that you're using in the Slideshow.

Does anyone know what a gray screen on boot up means?
I have a Mac Pro with 10.6.x (snow leopard) and I am getting a gray screen on boot up. Any ideas on how to fix this? It wont boot from the dvd either.

Is the Power light flashing? that may mean a RAM problem.
Sometimes the "snag keys" at Startup are not seen due to the keyboard connected via a Hub in a display. The keyboard needs to be connected to a USB directly on the chassis, no intervening Hub.
Use the Alt/Option key for best resuilts when in a jam -- it needs nothing from any drives to make a picture on the display, its code is all in ROM. -

Orientation lock, keeps the screen from rotating. You can turn it on and off by swiping up from any screen.
Actually, not entirely correct. It's the Portrait Orientation lock. It won't lock landscape orientation, as can the iPad Orientation Lock -

You have activated rotation lock. Check the little switch near the volume control.

With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?

I'm in cycle mode, and 'merge' is clicked in preferences. However, when I record, my previous track data keeps getting overwritten. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong. Interestingly, I can still see the data in the region.

As you haven't told us who your email provider is, no.
There isn't an SMTP server for Greece - it is either provided by your email provider, or the Internet provider you are connected through. -
i am trying to use logic pro 9 on my lion system and it continues to say I have a bad midi...when i go to check my midi drivers folders in my library its empty...does anyone know whats going on?

got your message about making sure to use the machine specific disk that came with my machine. Unfortunately, Apple no longer sells Tiger replacement disks. I've got a couple of bids out on ebay, and will update when I have news to add to this post.

To be clear you called the 800 number and explained what the situation was, old machine and lost the original DVD's?
Just checking because if you just called and tried to buy the DVD's they might tell you they no longer sell them but you aren't really trying to buy them your trying to replace the ones that are missing.
Ebay may work but there is a certain specificity to the DVD's required which, even if they seem right, might not work.
Good luck either way. If you get a chance when you get the DVD's I'd be interested in hearing how it all works out.

When I go to yahoo with my iPhone 6 the pages will not enlarge when I pinch them but it works on my iPad. Does anyone know what's wrong? Also the same on boyfriends phone he's eith Virgin and I'm with Vodafone do it cant be the providers.
Thanks for the link but none of those described the problem. No error message pops up. It just says "Accessing Itunes Store" but it never actually does. This only occurs when my iPhone is plugged in though.

Light is flashing continueously on the front of the apple tv. No picture and no sound. Does anyone know what is wrong? Everything is plug in correctly. When I disconnect everything and re plug it in the apple icon comes up, but then blank screen with no sound and no picture. Does anyone know what is wrong?

If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.
(You may already have a micro USB cable if you have a camera or other digital device) -
I purchased and Iphone 5 directly from apple, sim free over 12 months ago now. I have been using the phone on Vodafone with no issues. I have now upgraded to the Iphone 6 and therefore sold on the Iphone to a friend of mine. He lives in Ireland and therefore has a Vodafone Ireland simcard. Given that the phone was brought sim free from Apple directly, we didn't foresee that this would be an issue. However, when he goes to activate the phone, this message appears;
The SIM card inserted in the iPhone does not appear to be supported.
The SIM card that you currently have installed in this iPhone is from a carrier that is not supported under the activation policy that is currently assigned by the activation server. This is not a hardware issue with the iPhone. Please insert another SIM card from a supported carrier or request that this iPhone be unlocked by your carrier. Please contact Apple for more information.
Does anyone know what I need to do? I have got onto Vodafone, and they have been useless!! Apple say the phone is out of the 12 month warranty and therefore want to charge £25 before they will even speak to me about it. I requested an NUC from Vodafone, however, they are saying they need a proof of purchase from Apple as I did not buy the phone from them. I do not have my receipt anymore as the purchase was over 12 months ago now.
Any advice much appreciated.

PhillNow you have discovered that a sim free phone and an unlocked phone are NOT the same thing. Had you purchased an unlocked phone from Apple, then you would not have had problems and as it is, a sim free phone is not the same and sim free will lock to the first sim card that you insert into the phone, so effectively, you phone has been locked to Vodafone and this is why you now have problems.
If your phone is locked to Vodafone, then they are the only ones who can unlock the phone for you - Apple does not and cannot unlock phone - this is the province of the carriers only.
You had the contract with Vodafone when you used the phone and so you need to keep on at them to unlock the phone for you. If they still require proof of purchase and you cannot give them this and they will not unlock the phone for you, then this phone is useless to the friend that you sold it to - he will never be able to use it and basically, you are looking at giving him a refund for the phone for the amount that he paid you for it.
You need to keep on at Vodafone to unlock the phone for you or give your friend a refund for the phone as it will be useless to him and he will never be able to use the phone.
Hope that you now understand that a SIM Free phone and an Unlocked phone are NOT the same and I hope that when you purchased your iPhone 6, that you bought an unlocked phone? -
MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) will not read an SD card in the SDXC card reader. Does anyone know whats going on?
Hi David. I don't have as modern a Macbook Pro as you, mine is a 2012 model, but perhaps I can help. I often find that my SD card will not load when I first insert it. I have to remove it and then put it into the slot again firmly.
You also haven't posted any information about the SD card. What size is it, do you know how it is formatted, has it worked in that same mac previously, where did it come from, does it currently work in another device (such as your camera)? This sort of information will help to narrow down the problem.
If you post some more information I'm sure people will try to help you. In the meantime, if you look at your post again you should see "More Like This" at the bottom of the page and you may find an answer in some of those related posts.

Does anyone know what to do about iCal colors changing. Ever since ios7 came out I have many problems. I kind of feel like Apple has become Microsoft at twice the price?? Anyway, today all my calendars (iPhone, iPad, iCloud and on my Mac) all changed colors from the customer colors I had set. I have about 5 calendars.
I was able to change them back on my Mac, my iphone and my ipad, but not in iCloud. Once each of the ones I changed updates / syncs it reverts to the incorrect colors again. I have tested back and forth, and it is definetly coming out of the iCloud.com. The web site will not let me chance colors, so once it updates / sync, all my other devices and calendars sync to the purple in iCloud.
I could go on and on about my frustrations with the apparent lack to testing, and the irony around Microsoft and their "bugs". It is more important that I find a cure, as this is really annoying.
Has anyone else seen this todayDon't spend a lot of time trying to change it. It's an iCloud problem that's happened before, and when it happened in August it went back to the correct colors in a few days. Just be careful when you add new items to the calendar to use the right calendar (even if the color is wrong), otherwise you'll have things out of synch when the correct colors come back.
