HT1473 Help!! No artists list available when I try to sync!

Question

I have created a new iTunes account as my ex had it on his old computer. However when I select the music tab to sync to my iPhone, the screen just gives me the only option to sync the entire music. It doesnt give me a list of artists to sync! I can see them on the main music screen, it just doesnt give me the option to add them to my phone!!
Any ideas?

Basically, changes are made in your iTunes Library and then the Library is Synced with the iPod as a separate function.
On the Music tab (by which, I assume you mean the Device/Music pan or tab) are options to Sync the entire Library or to Sync only selected Playlists. Also, there is an option to Sync only ticked songs and videos.
While the choice is up to you, I personally prefer to Sync entire Library (yes, you can do what you want, read on!) and Sync only ticked songs and videos. With your Sync options set that way, you can then make changes in your iTunes Library and then (after you have made those changes) Sync the iPod with your Library.
So the first thing is; only import the songs you want to your Library. When importing from CD, untick the songs you really don't want. For songs or artists that are already in your Library, that you want to keep there but not put on your iPod, simply untick them in the Library. Because you are only syncing ticked songs, the unticked ones stay in your Library but don't go onto the iPod.
