HT1473 how to import movies to iTunes from personal DVD's

Don't understand how to import movies on DVD/s to the iTunes library

If these are personal movies and you have the original files (that you created the DVDs from), use those instead. Converting to DVD then back reduces quality.
And as Skydiver119 noted, it is illegal to break the encryption on commercial DVDs, even if you own the DVD.

  • HT1473 How can I move my iTunes software from one computer to another?

I purchased a new PC.  I tried copying my iTunes software to the new computer, but it wouldn't open.  So I downloaded a new copy of iTunes to the new computer.  When I tried to sync my iPhone to the new iTunes, it wouldn't allow me to put the music on my iPhone into the iTunes library because my new PC wasn't "Authorized".
How to I move the iTunes software from my old PC to the new PC so I won't have this sync problem?

See this migrate iTunes library post for moving your library across.
You don't generally copy installed programs, but rather use their installers on each machine.
You can authorize the new computer from the Store menu. The menu bar is initially hidden but can be revealed with CTRL+B.

  • How to import .MOV files coming from everio camcorder ?

How can I import  .MOV files coming from everio camcorder to imovie ? All I've tried failed, iMovie doesn't want my files, or even recognize.
    All answer welcome.
    Thanx

JVC released the Quicktime Components update:
    <http://www2.cli.co.jp/products/ne/update_qtc_for_gzhd7/qtc3e_update.htm>
which should take care of TOD files playing in Quicktime, but:
The answer to your question depends on which model JVC camcorder you have.
    Here are a few basics:
    1. If you have a JVC HD Everio that records in the AVCHD high definition file format (.mts file extension), and you have an Mac with an Intel processor, (sound like you do) running iMovie '08 or '09, then it should  be no problem. Simply connect the camcorder via USB and launch iMovie.
    2. If you have a slightly older JVC HD Everio that records MPEG2 high definition (.tod file format), then it is easiest if you record in the special 1440CBR mode, and transfer your video to your Mac using an i.Link (Firewire Connection) using the "Playlist Dubbing" process which is explained in your owner's manual.

  • How do I move my iTunes from my old PC to my new G4 17"

How do I move my iTunes music from my old PC to my new G4 17".

These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
If you have an iOS device that syncs with contact & calendar data on your computer you should migrate this information too. If that isn't possible create a dummy entry of each type in your new profile and iTunes should offer to merge the existing data from the device into the computer, otherwise the danger is that it will wipe the information from the device.
If your devices sync with a photos folder you will need to copy this over and update the settings on the photo tab to point to the new location.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

  • How to import .mov to itunes

Can't import a .mov movie to Itunes. How do i do that?

Open iTunes and drag your files into the library. If they are playable, you should see a green tab with the number of files and a progress bar at the top of the main window showing import progress.
You'll have to convert them to .mp4 files before your iPod will accept them. Select the movies in iTunes and use the Advanced menu -> Create iPod or iPhone version.

  • How do I move my iTunes from my old computer to my new one?

I've had my main iTunes account on my old computer for several years now but my computer has become unbearably slow and so I now have a new one but I'm not sure how to move my iTunes and all of its contents over. Is there a way to do this?

Click here for options. Any movies you've rented from the iTunes Store on the old computer won't play on the new one.

  • How to hide movies in iTunes from ATV?

We want to be able to select certain movies, photos, TV shows, etc. media, that currently reside in iTunes, from displaying on the Apple TV. This is an obvious parental control path.
We're having a tough time believing that a mature application like iTunes can't hide a file or make something private. Are we missing something?
User can deselect Movies to hide them in iTunes (iTunes Pref's)... but surprise! They show up on the ATV anyway, so what good is that command?
Perhaps there's a terminal command to enable this boneheaded functionality? We've even searched iTunes plug-ins.
Thanks in advance for your kind assistance!

Thanks Mr. Churchill! I appreciate it. It does seem a bit backward, Apple's usually so good at delivering advanced features and functionality. It's surprising that all these hoops need jumping when there really should be a simple and elegant HIDE command in the VIEW or CONTROL menu of iTunes that blocks the selected media from display anywhere. The selected media could simply be placed in a password-protected folder that does not appear on the ATV without the user's permission.
Based on my extensive research over the past few days, I see that the request for such functionality goes back years from many, many people.
There are obviously movies, explicit-lyrics music and TV shows that parents do not want their children to have access to, and the joint partnership of iTunes and Apple TV is not up to the challenge of helping parents completely hide the forbidden fruit.

  • How to import movies into itunes

    Hi All,
Here i am using Ipod touch, nw i am trying to add the movies into itunes but nothing is happening when i drag the movie into itubes and even added also.
Can anyone help me on this.

Looking on the web I found that the Graboid video content needs converting. Itunes will accept mp4 or m4v.
There are many converting apps out there. Handbrake is free and has presets for Apple TV and iphone etc
Remember it is illegal to convert videos you do not have copyright to.

If you'd look in the 5th generation manual or the Help guide on itunes itself, im sure it would tell you. but since im already bothering to post its .mov and .mp4 (mpeg 4 video). I thought i read some where it could play divx, but im pretty sure it wont at all.

  • How do I move my iTunes from one external hard drive to another?

Hi. I received a NEW external hard drive for my G5 for Christmas. I have moved all my photos, files etc onto the NEW external hard drive. After I thought I moved the iTunes music, I went to start my iTunes and the following error came up...*"The folder iTunes cannot be found or created, and is required. The default location for this folder is inside the "Music" folder*."
So I plugged my OLD external hard drive in and researched Apple support. I found the subject "iTunes for Mac: Moving your iTunes Music folder" at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301748 (I had followed these directions originally when I moved the folder to the OLD external hard drive). So I followed the directions again, and thought it was now on the NEW external hard drive. Well again, after I unplugged the OLD external hard drive, plugged in the NEW external hard drive... still the same error came up. Am I missing something? It is like the iTunes app is not there.

If the India iTunes store does not have them you are out of luck.  You can only use the iTunes (and App store) in the country you are located.  It is a copyright issue.
