I would recommend you use a program called senuti that allows you to copy your songs over to a new computer from an iPod. Unfortunatlly you have to pay for the full version but it allows you to have 1000 free song capacity of copying over and a movie counts as the capacity of 1 song.

  • HT5361 I want to delete my Verizon email account but I don't want to lose all of the messages I saved over the years into various mailboxes that I created "On My Mac" in Apple Mail.  Will they be erased / deleted when I delete the account?

I want to delete my Verizon email account but I don't want to lose all of the messages I saved over the years into various mailboxes that I created "On My Mac" in Apple Mail.  Will they be erased / deleted when I delete the account?

Yes, it's a POP account.  I kinda thought that the old messages would be safe in mailboxes "On My Mac," but since it's an irrevocable choice, I was reluctant to pull the trigger.  However, the suggestion above from keg55 relieves my concerns on that score; I'll make a backup copy before I delete the account just to be on the safe side.
Thanks very much to both WZZZ and keg55, I really appreciate it!

I updated my iphone 5 and now it is telling me to be able to work i had to connect it to itunes and itunes it telling me that i have to restore my iphone.  what can i do? i dont want to lose all my pictures and stuff like that.

Something went wrong with the update, this can and does happen with every version of iOS.
There is nothing wrong with the update.
Simply restore the device via iTunes on the computer.
If iTunes is stating it will take hours to update, that indicates an extremely slow Internet connection and is likely the reason the OTA update failed.

  • HT1386 I don't want to lose all of the music on my iPod when I sync with my Mac (work done on my Mac lead to the itunes library playlists being deleted. I have re-created them, but some of the music on my iPod isn't in my music library. How can I keep bot

Hello. I hope someone can help. I have an iPod Touch 8G that I am trying to keep the music playlists from, adding them to what is on my Mac. I had work done on my Mac, and as a result, the original playlists in iTunes were deleted. I have recreated them using the Music Library, a long arduous process of thousands of songs! I would really like to have both, so I could manually combine playlists. How do I do this, not losing either set of playlists?
I enabled Home Sharing and iCloud.
    Many thanks!
    Linda

You have your settings on your I Pod associated with a different account or the wrong account on your PC

  • Hi I just got a new laptop and I wanted to move all of my music to it.  When I looked up ways to do this Home Sharing seemed like the easiest step therefore I updated everything and did what I was told but it seems as if my PC won't see my desktop Mac.

Is there anything that I am doing wrong? I really just want to get all of my music off my Mac before I go back to school.

Right-click on your main iTunes folder and click Properties, then go to the Security tab and click Advanced. If necessary grant your account and system full control to this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to replace permissions on child objects which will repair permissions throughout the library. This is the XP dialog but Windows 7 shouldn't be too different.

  • HT5622 I changed my email that was associated with my last Apple ID.the old email keeps popping up every time I want to purchase a new app. From the app. Store

I am having trouble getting free appt..from the App Store...I changed my email that is associated with my Apple ID..when I go into the app. Store my old email address keeps popping up..I need help

Apps are forever tied to the AppleID used to download them. Whenever you
try to update an app downloaded with the old ID, you will be asked for that old ID.
Delete the apps and redownload with your new ID - you will have to pay again
for any purchased apps. Or use the old ID. Or am I not understanding what you
    are asking?
Did you log out of the AppStore after changing the email and log back in again?

  • I had to install a new hard drive because my old hard drives boot files became corrupted, and i want to get all of my music files off the old hard drive and regain all my play counts/ratings/playlists

    Greetings everyone
as the title says, ive had to install a new hard drive  and i want to transfer my old itunes library onto the new drive, maintaining all playlists/play counts/ratings etc, album artwork if possible. The old hard drive is installed as a slave drive and is completely acessible, but due to the boot files being corrupted i cannot use it as the main drive and therefore operate my old itunes. Also, my ipod no longer contains my music library as itunes synced without my permission and wiped it.
The only thing i have tried is copying all of my old music files from the old drive by selecting 'add folder to library' and then the old drive, then replacing the new itunes library.itl file with the one from my old itunes. This restores all my playlists and playcounts but when i try to play any of the songs it says that the files could not be found, and i dont fancy locating  8500 music files individually!
Thankyou for taking the time to read my post, any help will be greatly appreciated.

Ah, my reply was based on the assumption that you had a default installation of iTunes.
i.e you had all your music in the iTunes media folder inside your iTunes folder.
If your iTunes folder is so small compared to the amount of music you have, you must have a different arrangement.
    This complicates you situation considerably.
iTunes can cope with moving around as long as all the music is in the iTunes media folder, not not if it isn't.
Your first step should be to get iTunes working on the old drive. This will involve editing the xml library file so that the drive letter is correct and then rebuilding the library from the xml file.
Then you will need to consolidate your library which moves everything into the iTunes media fodler. After that you will be able to use my first suggestion.
    Step 1
Find the iTunes folder on the old drive and copy the two library files somewhere else so you can find them again. That's iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Library.xml.
Now open the copy of iTunes Library.xml with WordPad.
    Look for lines starting:
    Location
These contain the paths to tracks.
You will need to use a find/replace to change the drive letter so that it is correct.
Make sure that you include enough in the "find" so that you only change the right thing.
Maybe /c:/ and replace with /d:/ or whatever.
After that, tell iTunes to use the library on the old drive with a shift key start.
Hold down the shift key and start iTunes, keep holding the shift key until you are prompted to choose a library. Navigate to the iTunes folder on the old drive and choose iTunes Library.itl.
    Then use the method in the following article to rebuild your library;
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1451
Unfortunately the date added will be today for all tracks.
If iTunes works correctly after this, consolidate your library
    File>>Library>>Organize>>consolidate
This copies all tracks into to iTunes media folder and could create a problem if you do not have disk space so don't do it if you are unsure about free disk space.
Check that iTunes works OK and then use the first method.

  • HT201269 can i transfer my iPod playlist that was synched with some else's Mac account to my PC & new iTunes account?

Here's my problem (and take into account I am not technically savvy). I use my iPod nano every day and have an extensive playlist, but my iPod nano is synched with a friend's Mac and under her account, and she has moved out of the area I live in. I downloaded iTunes for Window (7) onto my PC and opened my own account. How do I transfer my playlist from my iPod nano under my friend's Mac account (and there's no way to contact her) to my PC and my own iTunes account? I was told to first "unsynch" my iPod from her Mac using Senuti or Export on my PC, but I cannot find a free version of either program, and don't want to download a free program from a website that may be unreliable. From there, I'm totally lost. So, I basically want to know if this can be done, because I have to hire a technician at my local Apple store to do this whole process for me (I'm terrified of losing my playlist) and want to keep the costs down (they charge $40 per half hour and money is tight for me). I also want to back up my playlist, and looked into creating a Cloud account, but it says to synch my iPod with Cloud first, and I don't dare to try that on my own, so I guess I'll have to pay for the techs to do it. Is there another way to store my playlist, such as a flash drive? Still, I don't dare to touch anything on my iPod without face-to-face technical support. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.Thank you!

    This is not legal.
The music purchased with your friends account or owned by your friend does not belong to you and she has no legal right to distribute it to you.

  • I have a 3gs, thats was "upgraded" with iPad software. No Longer Works

excuse my untech saviness when I write this:
I have a 3GS, it was jailbroken for me, but not only that, it was running on Ipad software. I was told the reason was at the time there werent any hacks for the 3GS software due to the 4 being out and the ipad as well. phone ran well no issues.
    the problem:
finally have a computer, a iMac to be exact... Ive been syncing without problems. Today, I updated my iPhone. I was told not to. but forgot since I had the phone "worked on" last year, and really wasnt thinking.
the phone was restored to factory settings, I can get as far as the wi-fi set up. But I can not activate the cellular part of the phone. On iTunes, its saying there isnt a sim card installed. I took it out and reinstalled. still nothing. please help. thank you

  • How to find out where all my  itunes music files are stored on my computer?

I cannot locate the place where all my itunes files/playlists are located on my system. I need to copy this file into my flash drive in order to install into my new systems itunes folder. How do I locate this file?
    thanks again Karen

Normally your music from iTunes will be located in "My Music/iTunes" The file name you should be looking for then is called iTunes Music Library(.xml) and iTunes Library(.itl) The reason why the codes in brakets are there are because they are pascific codes which these files will be under if you were to have all the known system file types active. Once you've found them and transfered to your flash drive/external hard drive, open up iTunes and tell it via import through file or just copy the file onto the new system.
The alternitive is just to do this, open up iTunes, click on file, then go to export library, then just tell it where you want the file to be located instead.

  • I forgot my iPad mini pass code and i don't want to lose all of the data, what should I do?

I was camping and my brother kept getting into my ipad mini so I deceided to change the passcode. I cant remember the passcode one bit. I dont think that i have ever synced it with a computer. I also dont want to erase any data because i have a lot of apps and songs that costed a lot that i dont want to lose and they arent hooked up with a computer. PLEASE HELP!!!!!! Thanks!

If you have never synced with a computer, you have no choice but to erase it and set it up as new.
Apps can be re-downloaded for free and, in most countries, music can be re-downloaded for free also.

  • I have it set that my URL bar doesn't remember things when I type in a URL. However, when I type, it still gives me a drop down of sites I've been to. Why? And how do I fix this? It's really annoying

example: if I start to type in www.mozilla.com, the URL bar gives a drop down of all the sites I've been to that start with www.mo, even though if I pull up my settings, it's set to not remember anything.

Are you using the old Firefox 3.0.17 version (Help > About) that shows in your post or gives that the wrong version?
In the Firefox 3.0.x versions you are limited about what to do with the location bar.
    * Old Location Bar: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/7637
If you update to Firefox 3.5.x or 3.6.x then you have more options for the location bar behavior.<br />
