I just bought a new 64gb ipod touch 5th generation, and i have had it plugged in for two hours or so now...So I'm just wondering how long it will take to charge until I can use it...Everytime I unplug it to try and turn it on and set it up, it never does. Do I have to have it charging for hours upon hours to charge it for the first time.
If anyone could help, thatd be great

Apple does not specify any special initial charging time. I would use the iPod without charging if the indicator indicates about 50% or greater. There is no % battery on the iPod. You just have to look at the battery icon in upper right and judge the % battery.

That depends on the level of charge...if it is fully discharged it could take two-three hours. If only partially discharged, an hour. But that is only guessing as it depends heavily on the charge level when you start charging.

When it is plugged in look at the little battery bar in the top right of the screen. When it is full then it is charged.
Also you can go to settings< general< usage< battery percentage. Make sure that option is on and it will give you your battery amount as a percent thus allowing you to see when it is 100%.

I have a 160GB Gen 5 that I bought when first released back in the day when they were $400. Through a number of changes, the most recent being the advent of the Convert Higher Bitrate Songs to 128bit AAC feature, I decided to look at what more music I could store. After all was said and done, I ended up with a bit of a disaster with cover art not being properly applied to the music being played. I decided to *restore the ipod* based on suggestions in the discussion boards, and equally important was following the hints and tips here.

The advice is especially important in very large library situations to ensure you have uniqueness in the albums you want to display. Hadn't really given it much thought until I had the ability to see the individual albums for the 40K songs on the iPod via the cover art view.
Finally the point of the post...

With some breaks in between because I need to check each incremental load to verify there is no cover art corruption, correct bad tags and such, but for the most part the loading is visibly slow, and I'm sure the conversion is the cause. I'm not really complaining at this point, but there is clearly room for improvement. And of course unless there is a redo involved in which case I will get quite cranky.

Finally to lend a bit more credence to the performance concern, my 32GB iPhone 3GS for only about say 28GB of music takes about 24 hrs to load from a 2.2GHz dual core intel laptop, again using the convert higher bitrate option.

With AC power adapter it takes 3-4 hours for a full charge. With the USB charger it takes 9-0 hours for a full charge. I am not happy with them removing the AC charger and other accessoreis at all. It's business but it still stinks.
I know I would rethink my purchase but would most likely end up buying the Micro anyway

That's not really true. Open apps, except for the one you are actively using, use no power. They are in a suspended state. And killing apps in the Quick Launch screen does not necessarily stop ones with background processes from using power.
What you should be using the Quick Launch screen for is to switch quickly between applications without having to go back to the Home screen and navigating to the app you want every time.

So last week a baseball game ran late and pushed a show I DVR into another time slot.
So I ended up only recording half of house on fox.
I went to check it out on the on demand section the next day and they only had the 10/3 episode, not the 10/10 episode.
So it's now 10/17 and the new episode airs tonight, yet the 10/10 episode is still not on demand.
This is ridiculous in my opinion. From talking with friends who have other services, the on demand shows are loaded and available the next day, yet here on FIOS I'm still waiting a week later for a show to be loaded.
Is this the normal service level from FIOS???

Fios VOD is totally dependent on the network provider on when shows are added or removed. Fox, I think someone else said, tends to be a week after an episode occurs.

Hi,
I found the answer to this question after doing two podcasts.
It takes about week and half to be fully listed. When you first submit you receive an automated email. Emailed to the email address of your podcast feed. Then your podcast page is created for itune store and you receive another email that it's approved. You should receive this email sometimes two days after you received the first but it still won't be browse able until another few weeks(ie. listed in category). In the mean time don't remove your podcast feed file from your hosting account and don't make changes which will change the link to the feed you submitted.
The only other part I couldn't figure out was why podcasts episodes don't come up when keywords from episode sections of podcast feed are typed in itune search box.
