HT1476 Message: charging is not supported by this accessory. Tried 3 charge cords, blew all clean with air, no phone charging icon.

Trying to charge the iphone 3.  When connecting charger, receive message " charging is not supported by this accessory".  Three chargers tried and do not work.  Blew all connectors clean with compressed air.  Battery charging icon does not show when plugged in and phone slowly losing power.

Clean iPhone charging port with clean toothbrush and small amount of Isopropyll Alcohol. Clean very well especially on top of the midrib which is where the pins are.

  • HT1476 Charging is not supported by this accessory?

I'm really frustrated because I have tried every possibly way to fix my iPod Touch fourth generation. There are two things wrong with it and I have already purchased things to fix them- a home button and a new charger. I am not sure this new charger will work because my sister just got an iPod with a new charger. I tried that on my iPod and it did not work. It shows the bolt with the red connector thing (iPod is off) but it does not turn on after being connected for 20 minutes.
I don't know what to do. I've already spent over $50 to buy things to repair it, so I don't want to spend more money on Apple. I don't have any protection plan for it. I've only had it since April 2011. Anyone know a fix I'm not trying? Thanks!
P.S.: It turned on once, but displayed the message "charging is not supported by this accessory." I have used four of our different USB cables with no luck. When I plugged my iPod in when it was on, iTunes came up but it did not sync or charge. Please help!!!
I have the most recent version and I do not think restoring will fix it...

    - Try restoring the iPod, first from backup and then try to factory settings/new iPod to rule out a software problem.
    - Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, foreign material and broken or cracked plastic.
    - Could you have damaged something when you took the iPod apart and replaced the Home button?

  • Charging is not supported by this accessory

I went to plug my new iPod Touch 2G into my trucks iPod adapter and got the message "Charging is not supported by this accessory." It worked fine with my 1st Gen. iPod, but not with this one. This is some BS. Apple needs to fix this. People shouldn't have to go out and buy all new accessories just so their iPod can get charged. Luckily my brand new Logitech docking station/speakers charges it just fine. From what I read, other people are having this problem as well with almost all the accessories. I put in a suggestion to Apple to fix this, but we all know how that goes....

That is the problem right there...
"Apple told third party manufacturers they were phasing this out two years ago...."
What Apple should have done is realize that their customers pay a premium for their products and might have a large investment in legacy accessories that range across multiple product lines such as docks, clock radios, speakers, car solutions, etc. and maybe it would be in the best interest of Apple's customers to continue to support charging over Firewire.
See, the problem is not that things evolve over time and become obsolete, they do, the problem is, that Apple is not putting the customer first.
Don't get me wrong, love the products, but this change was in really poor form much like locking out the video from legacy products last generation.

  • I keep getting "charging is not supported by this accessory". This happened after an update. Can this be fixed?

    Not Charge

    - Try another cable. The cable for 5G iPod (lightning connector) seems to be more prone to failure than the older cable.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.

I have recently purchased an ipod touch 4th Gen, 64Gb device and have used it without issue, including charging with a cable I purchased from K-mart which was better designed and more robust than the ones that come with the ipod. I used this cable for years with my 2nd Gen Ipod and my partners 3rd Gen Ipod (touch) without any problems either.
Then, one day it just started to happen, not with the older ipods, just my new one and only when using the computer. Charging it on my My friends computer with the same cable is fine and my wall charger is fine and the older ipods on my computer are fine when also charged on that same cable. I don't care what apple says, it's either a glitch in the programming or a move to stop people from using 3rd party hardware by chipping everything they have in sight to scrape up extra cash and then telling the devices not to perform task unless the chip is detected.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Inspect the dock connector for bend or missing contacts, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    -  Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

    iMessage - Sorry, I don't know.
Dock - The same thing is "sorta" happening with a belkin charger that I have. It'll say that charging is not supported wij this accessory, and I can't use the Belkin cord any longer. I have to use my apple one. I think that means that the dock software is now "outdated" and can't charge your iPod anymore.

  • Using wall charger for first time I get error message "charging not supported by this accessory."  Been using since December and not seen this before.

Using wall charger and am now getting error message "charging not supported by this accessory."  Have been using since December and this is first time I have encountered this.

Did you look to see if there is debris or dust causing the problem? Get a flashlight and take a look to make sure.
Is there something in the USB end of the cord perhaps?
You didn't answer this question ....Are you using the charger and cord that came with your iPad?
You could try changing cords if you have another one available to see if it is the cord. Have you tried connecting to your computer to see if you get the same message?
You could try a hard reset by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears, let go of the buttons and let the iPad restart. Then try the charger again.

  • HT4060 charging not supported by this accessory after using the same device for a year

I own a first gen iPad. I have always used the same wall charger to charge it for the past 17 months. Suddenly I get this message that charging is not supported by this device. So I plug it into my iMac to charge.....same message. This is a software problem. I find that thousands of owners or iPads and other ios devices are all suddenly having the same issue. Apple has to offer a update to fix this. It is not a cable or connector or hardware issue. The only way I can now charge my iPad is to do a reset. Then it will charge for a few days normally until this message comes back. APPLE PLEASE ACKNOWLEDGE THIS PROBLEM AND ISSUE AN UPDATE TO FIX IT NOW.

This is an iPad user to user forum. Apple does not read posts.
Suggest you update to the current iOS version 5.1.1.
    Look at Apple feedback.

  • Error message airport utility not supported on this architecture

I'm using a macbook pro with OS X v10.5.8 and trying to set up a new Time Capsule network, however I'm getting the error message "airport utility not supported on this architecture". How do I fix this so I can set up my network?

Hmmm, that message would imply that Airport Utility is from a PPC Mac, or an older version of the OS?
    Might download & install this...

  • My iPad has an error that says "charging not supported by this accessory"

I have an iPad 4 and one day I went to plug it in and the charger wouldnt connect. I went and bought both new peices of the charger, still doesn't charge. When i just leave it plugged in it pops up an error of " charging not supported by this accessory." Does any one have a remedy for this problem?

Yes, i have also tried connecting it to my computer, it also pops up the same error. When its plugged into the wall the whole screen turns black and a yellow triangle with the exclamation mark pops up. When i plug it into the computer with the apple cord a little blue box ( in the middle like the apple id password box) pops up.

  • Charging not supported by this accessory???

Whenever I connect my ipod touch 4g to my charger (the charger and cable is apple brand) it immediately tells me: "charging is not supported by this accesory". I tried to plug it in multiple times, and with different chargers but to no avail. I tried closing all the apps, and then turning it off, then plugging it in. That didn't work either. I don't understand why this is happening, my ipod is running the latest version of ios 5.1 and all of my apps are always updated. It is in perfect condition, and it won't charge at all if I leave it plugged in for 8 hours. My warranty has expired, and I need it to travel with in a week. What should I do to fix this problem!!!!

Does it work/charge when connected to the computer?
