HT1477 ipod shuffle 3rd gen is not charging

When I place my ipod shuffled 3rd gen into the charging dock it does not charge. Other ipods are able to charge in the dock but not this particular ipod. Is there some kind of reset besides turning off and on for the shuffle?

Has this 3G Shuffle ever been able to charge from this particular dock or is the first time you have tried connecting it? Does the dock's manufacturer state that the dock is capable of charging a 3G Shuffle?
Does the iPod still charge when you connect it to a USB port on your PC/Mac or when you connect it to a USB wall adapter?

Try in order:
- Resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore the iPod via iTunes on your computer. First from backup and if problem persists restore to factory defaults/new iPod.
-- If iTunes does not se the ipod try placing the iPod first in recovery mode and then in DFU mode.

- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since you likely have a hardware problem.

Ipod shuffle 2nd gen does not charge on new 5W USB power adapter

Hi,
my perfectly functional ipod shuffle 2nd gen with original dock will not charge with the new Continental Europe 5W USB power adapter, even though the specs of the power adapter include the 2nd generation shuffle. Shuffle will blink orange three times, longer than normal blinking, and then do nothing. probably nothing I can do about it, but worth a note. The US model of the new 5W adapter does not include the 2nd gen shuffle, so maybe it is an error on the apple specs page.
Maybe the 2nd gen needs more than 5W to charge?

indeed, it needs the bigger 12 Watt Adapter and the apple site is wrong.

Ipod shuffle is a couple of years old but not used frequently. No linger holds a charge for more than three hours. Anything I can do to fix that?

What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting this issue? Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your PC? Have you tried a different USB cable?
What happens if you try to reset the device with it still connected to the PC?

How do I re-format windows iPod Shuffle 3rd gen to work on Mac?

I Have an iPod shuffle 3rd gen that works perfectly well on a windows laptop, however I want to link it to my MacBook.
When I plug the iPod into my Mac it charges but doesn't appear in iTunes.
I have restored it to factory settings using iTunes on Windows but it still doesn't appear on my MacBook.
Anyone know how to solve this issue?

Ipod Shuffle (2nd Gen) Does Not Recognize Songs

My Ipod Shuffle (2nd Gen) does not recognize the songs that are loaded on it. When I turn it on after a full charge the green light stays on for about 5 seconds then turns off. When I press play, the colors flash orange and green indicating there are no songs loaded. I've tried all the recommendations and also seen that people with similar problems have not been able to resolve the problem as well. I've seen some cases where the use of the Ipod Rest Utility is recommended however I have Vista on my PC and there is no version available for that o/s that I could find. Does anyone have any other suggestions. Thanks.

I changed the iPod to Disk mode and it just blinks orange while it is connected to the PC. It says that it is synched on the PC screen but I thought the blinking orange light means that it isn't. I took it back out of disk mode. The original problem still exists...when I turn it on, the green light stays lit for 5 seconds then there's no light at all....when I press play the lights alternate orange and green indicating no music is loaded which is wrong since it shows all my songs that are loaded when it is connected to my PC. If you connect it to the Mac with iTunes NOT running, and run Disk Utility, does it appear in the sidebar as a "disk"? Also, you can run System Profiler or System Information (depending Mac OS X version). It is in Applications/Utilities/, but you can also run it from the About This Mac window. Does the shuffle appear as a device under USB?
The red light when you move the power switch to ON means very low charge in battery. That probably means the battery is not getting charged when connected. In terms of hardware, that could mean a bad USB port on Mac, a bad USB cable, or a bad connection on the shuffle. In any case, power is not getting to the battery. It might be a bad battery, but if that was the only problem, I think the shuffle would still appear in iTunes when connected. That's why asked if it appeared in Disk Utility or System Profiler/Information; if it does, the connection is working (even though iTunes does not see it for some reason).
You can make sure the USB port is working by using something else that is similar (like a USB flash drive) on the same port. If you happen to have another USB cable, you also try to rule out a bad cable.

I'm not aware of any Apple program that "replaces" iPod shuffle earphones (beyond the warranty period).

I connected my iPod shuffle 3rd Gen up via iTunes today only to find that Lion was displaying a generic drive icon for it in place of the iPod shuffle icon. I've since tried restoring the iPod using iTunes, and re-starting my MacBook Pro but it's not fixed it. There doesn't seem to be a standard icon library in Lion and I can't find any discussions about this on the various Apple support pages. Any ideas how to get it back?

You need to reinstall iWork from the original source or from backup. If you installed it from a DVD, the Mac App Store version isn't free.

Ipod shuffle 3rd gen volume control issue

I have IPod Touch and IPod Shuffle 3rd gen and I bought a new pair of headphones in the Apple store in London few months back and the headphones were totally fine when used in IPod Touch. Yesterday I put them into my IPod Shuffle and I am experiencing a problem with the volume - I can't put it up or down.
It's not the "limit volume" thing, I already tried that...
Any suggestions..?
