HT1491 I downloaded a song for a ringtone but I cant make it my ringtone? Not sure what I am missing?
I want to use different songs for ringtones so I can recognize who is calling me but I dont like the preloaded manufactery ringtones. So I found what I wanted but cant make it work for a ringtone?
Songs need conversion before they can be used as ringtones. Songs and ringtones use different formats.
If you have a Mac, you can use GarageBand to do the conversion. If you have a Windows computer, there are utilities but I can't name one.

I would appreciate if someone could help me out.If I understand you correctly, you are trying to use iTunes to play the Music in your iPod but which is not in your itunes library. I don't think Apple design iTunes for use in your way. As to put and play music in iPod, the music has to be in iTunes first, so you play music in the iTunes music Library. the window with Ipod music is just to show you which music are already in the Ipod, in case you want to Manually Manage your huge music library.

I purchased and downloaded some songs, everything went fine, but when I tried to play the song it only ran for 3 seconds even though it said the song was over 4 minutes????

Not with an iPhone unless the iTunes Store has a free song available and the same with the Amazon cloud music app.

I bought a song in ITUNES and had problem downloading it. I contacted support and they downloaded the song for me. Now when I try to play the song, I get a message saying my computer isn't authorized to play it. I try reauthorizing but that doesn't work, just keep getting the same message. Can anyone help?

I have an iphone 4s and I have been trying for months to update my phone from iOS 6.1.3 to the new one.
I recently got a new computer (my old harddrive crashed and will not work at all) and I just now copied all my music and photos to the computer.
Now I have been trying to update to the iOS 7.1 both on iTunes and on the iPhone but neither one work. I keeps saying "unknown error" .
I am wondering if I restore it to factory settings and then update it will the install work?
also since i have backed up to the iCloud and my computer..will i be able to recover my music, contacts, notes and photos???

I've downloaded current update for iPad 2 but it won't install. It keeps coming up as an error. I have deleted many apps but didn't help the situation... What's causing this and how do I fix this?
What is the latest iOS for iPad 2? Is it iOS 7 or can you update to 8?
all I remember is that my iPad mini performed poorly under iOS 7. Try to update it to the very latest version. Also you will have to use iOS 8.1.3, because 8.1.2 is no longer signed in case you were trying to install that. You can get the latest IPSW from http://IPSW.me just enter in your device and it will forward you to the right Apple ios download link.
Another thing is keeping your device memory free, if you have a 16 gig device, it's harder to keep space free. my iPad mini is 16 gig, but all I can ever keep free is 1 GB so I keep it at that. Turn off "iCloud photo sharing beta" and that will help a little bit. also when you do a restore from iTunes, don't restore your backup right away, see how it performs fresh, and then add your apps back in one at a time you might have to sacrifice photos and other personal things for performance.
