HT1491 Where did my audio books go?

I have bought several audio books from the iTunes Store. I used to access them through the Music app's "audio books" icon (with albums, artists, etc., icons). Suddenly, the "audio books" icon is gone. It's the same with the iTunes program on my computer--the Audio Books section has vanished. Audio books have not been moved over to the iBooks app, which has my written (not audio) books as always.
I sync my purchases between devices with with iCloud, but there is no longer an Audio Books section under "Purchased" in the iTunes Store. When I search the iTunes Store for the book I want to listen to, it gives me the opportunity to spend another $20+ to buy the audio book, but no option to download what I've already bought and paid for.
Where are the audio books that I've already purchased and how do I listen to them?

Audiobooks are a one-time only download, they won't appear in the Purchased section for re-downloading - I think that they are all supplied to Apple by audlibe.com, so I assume that it's them requiring the one-time rule.
If they are not on your devices, nor in the Books section of your computer's iTunes library and you don't have them on a backup, then you can try contacting iTunes support and see if they will grant you a re-download : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • Where is my audio book?

I have installed an audio book on my iPhone 3GS using the Overdrive Media Console supplied by the library. This is the same program I have used many previous times successfully. It showed normal installation with the progress bar going etc.. iTunes shows the audio book is on the iPhone but when I click the iPod option in the phone it says there is nothing there. Where is the audio book? I saw it install and iTunes shows it is there but the phone's iPod program says nothing is there. Help please ASAP.
    Thanks... Bob

This is sort of a generic response to all. I have used the Overdrive program many times in the past, it has always worked fine with the iPhone. While it is not iTunes it does require iTunes to work and will not do so if iTunes is not running. As a matter of fact it will not work unless the "Manually manage music and videos" is checked in iTunes under the summary tab of my device.
Again, iTunes says the book is on the device. When you click audiobooks under my device in iTunes it lists the book and all it's chapters as being there. The iPhone itself can't seem to find it though.

  • Where is the audio books tab!!!!, Where is the audio books tab!!!!

New iPad mini.  Where do audio books go when downloaded?

You should have transferred any purchases made on your ipad to your computer regularly, particularly before any update.
Have you failed to do this?

  • Where are my audio books in purchased items, where are my audio books in purchased items

I have recently updated y itunes to the new version. Now I cant find audio books in purchased items. I can find books, but there is not a section for audio books. Can someone help please.

It's hidden away ... under Books. What you normally see on the far left is "Music" under this is the list with among other things "Books". Click on this and you'll see the result as per the accompanying grabshot:

  • Where are the audio books in iTunes 11

I downloaded iTunes 11, and now everything is "new". and I don't see any audio books (in german: Hörbücher) in the sidebar - and in the settings, there is no checkbox for this genre. Who can help?

Thank you, I didn't see the top bar with "Hörbücher", "Bücher" etc.; is somehow confusing. Why do they always change the good old user interface?

  • Where did my audio go?IMOVIE wont play back audio

It was there yesterday and just to test it I re checked the tape which did have audio then dropped a song in the timeline from itunes. No audio playback? for the life of me I can't figure out how to get it to play?

    Hi Paul:
    Two things possible I guess...
*Is the little box checked at the end of the timeline (there
are three and all should be checked to be sure)
*You may have to play your song in itunes first before importing into imovie and if that doesn't do it, burn a CD and reimport from there.

  • Where oh where did my audio go?

I recently purchased a Presonus Firebox for v/o work. I was trying to cut audio in GarageBand to import into FCP. After a few days (and many posts) I was finally able to get a signal to GB. Now that I have that issue solved, I'm having issues with audio in FCP. I'm getting audio just fine from iTunes, Safari and everything else, but when I try and play a timeline, no dice. Video is moving fine. I tried going back and changing everything back to the way it was before, even trashed my preferences. No luck. Can anyone give me any ideas?

I'm not familiar with the MXO mini, but if you have the audio routed to follow the video and the video is going there, then that's where audio is going also. Hence the term "Audio Follows Video."
If you want it to come out of speakers connected to your Mac, route it that way (although there may be a few frames of delay).

  • Where did the audio go?

I'm new to Mac. I created my project in Final Cut Pro 5 using 3 Quicktime files. I exported from FCP5 to Quicktime Movie and everything looks great. When I set up Compressor 2, imported my movie to it and used the conversion to MPEG-2 150 minutes, the end result was great video and no audio. I checked the process again and made sure the audio compression components were included and did it again. Successful compression, no audio. The Quicktime Movie still plays great. I need to get this to DVD and soon. Please help!!

I don't what to tell you, but I would suggest.
Going back to FCP and exporting again just the audio as aiff 48/16.
Drop that into Compressor and elect the Dolby 2 preset.

  • Just bought a MacBook 11" Running Lion, Where did the Audio Input Selector go?

    Hello,
I'm a digital performance artist, and I'm preparing a new 11" MacBook Air for use as my main computer in the desert at this year's BurningMan. My software must use the built in line input to process an audio signal. On my 13" MacBook running Snow Leopard, in the audio preferences, I am able to choose to "use the 1/8" audio jack for:" input or output. On the new 11" MacBook Running Lion, I do not have that featurte yet the Audio input is mentioned in the documentation I read before acquiring it. How do I enable the audio input? If it is a Lion issue, is it possible to downgrade to Snow Leopard until Audio Line In is supported?
Any help would be great. I'm looking for something like "defaults write com.apple.xxx.AudoInputSelector -bool YES"
    Thanks!
    Sid

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Free upgrades to Mountain Lion already ended, so now you have to pay to upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion. I recommend you to return the MacBook Pro and get another one with Mountain Lion if you want. Another option is to wait until Apple launches Mavericks and upgrade to that version

  • HT201272 I purchased an audio book, it doesn't appear in my purchased list nor in the audio books list

I purchased an audio book, it doesn't appear in my purchased list nor in the audio books list. I have a receipt for it but if I start to down load it again, I get charged. Where did the audio book go and why doesn't ITunes recognize I've already paid?

Audiobooks are currently a one-time only download from the store, so if you download it again then you will be charged - I believe that they are all supplied to Apple by audible.com, so I assume that it's them that are requiring the one-time only download.
Is it still on the device that you downloaded it on (if it was on your iPhone then it should be in the Music app), or do you have a copy on your computer and/or on a backup ? If not then you can try contacting iTunes support and see if they will grant you a re-download : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

  • Audio book download from iTunes where is this stored on yr iPad 2

Hi all, I am trying to find where my purchased audio book has been stored by my ipad2. I have successful  purchased an podcast from iTunes and easily found how to access this. I have retraced my steps via iTunes and it is telling me it's downloaded but it's hiding and it's driving me mad. As u have guessed  Christmas present, thank u

It should have downloaded into the Music app - when you have audiobooks on an iPad you will get an Audiobooks option under the More button at the bottom of the Music app.
Note that audiobooks are currently a one-time only download from the store (so they won't appear in the Purchased tab for re-downloading), so you may want to copy it to your computer's iTunes via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases so that you can take a backup copy of it - it should copy over to the Books part of your iTunes library.
