It should be in the Videos app (the iTunes app on the iPad is just the iTunes store and the Downloads tab in it shows downloads that are happening/queued, once they've finished downloading they disappear from the tab) :

Does the track play correctly in Quicktime Player? If it does then it is an iTunes issue. If it doesn't then it is possible the file was not completely downloaded, or is corrupt.

What happens if you restart iTunes?
Look in the Recently Added playlist. What happens if in the Get Info window you add the lettter (any letter actually) "X" to the end of the artist name, then remove it?
Right click on a problem file in the Recently Added playlist and then Show In Playlist > Music Do you see it?
Delete the files from iTunes but do not let iTunes move them to the trash. Now go to where they are located in Finder and add them again. Does that work?
If you don't see it in Recently Added, make a new playlist window and drag the files from where iTunes put them to an empty playlist. Do they show?
Please post a response. I make various suggstions here at least once a day in response to this issue and I have no idea if they work for people.

The easiest way to handle this is to download the past purchase on your computer through iTunes, then after that just sync the iPod with iTunes. If your iPod is an iPod touch, you can download past purchases directly on the device.

Why does the song i downloaded keep asking me to authorize it for my computer, and when i do it plays a differant song

I downloaded Fast AS You from I-Tunes. When I click on it to play it a pop up box says I have to authorize the song for my computer and asks for my password. When I enter my pass word it plays 6th Avenue Heartache. Over and over, even after a reboot it does the same thing. Any ideas?

Since the latest update of iTunes when I play a CD or import it into iTunes, the song currently playing and the title shown for that song are not correct. All the songs and titles are there but they are jumbled. Any ideas? Thanks, i need all the help i can get.

There is dirt our moisture in the dock connector on the phone or the end of the cable. Or possibly a bad cable.
You can clean the connector with a dry toothbrush or wooden toothpick; inspect it with a magnifying glass to make sure it is clean.

this usually happens when a user moves or deletes files in the finder - a sure way to upset iTunes.
did you move or delete files in the finder ?

if you let iTunes manage your library, all your content will be in <MacintoshHD>/users/<yourname>/music/iTunes/iTunes music (or media)/music. did you look there ? tried a spotlight search ?

Songs containing DRM (Digital Rights Management) may not appear, or may appear grayed out in iCloud. This can occur if your computer is not authorized for playback of that content. Try authorizing your computer, then manually update iTunes Match.
To determine what Apple ID your computer needs to be authorized for, locate and select the song in your iTunes library.
Choose File > Get Info.
In the Summary tab, locate the Account Name field in the right column and write it down.
Click OK.
Choose Store > Authorize this Computer.
Type in the account name from the Summary field and its password. Click Authorize.
Choose Store > Update iTunes Match.

Err this is no longer April 1st you know.
The iPod Shuffle has never had a 'display' on which track names can be shown. HT1725 I downloaded an album from itunes and only half of the songs have downloaded. The rest of the songs keep trying to download and then come up with an error saying they cannot download at this time. I'm not sure what the issue is.

Do you want to retry or be done." Each time I retry, the same thing happens. They will not download. I have restarted my phone and the same problem remains.

Other people have been having similar problems with songs over a number of days.
Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting it from your iTunes library and redownload it via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes : re-downloading.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if it re-downloads in the same state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that song and use the 'Report a Problem' link.

It sounds like you are unable to play a couple of songs from your library becuase you get a message that the computer is unauthorized to play, but other content purchased that same day works without issue. I would verify that the affected songs were purchased with the same Apple ID first:

Open iTunes
Highlight one of the items you have purchased (You can find your purchases in your Purchases playlist).
Choose File > Get Info.
Click the Summary tab.
The Account Name area will list the account used to purchase the item. Unless you have changed accounts, this is your iTunes Store account name.
If so, then delete the songs:

When I add a song to my iphone, why does the song JUST go to the song section and not the artist?

It never did this before but I added a song onto my iPhone and it's been on there for awhile, but I guess recently when I plugged in my iphone to my laptop and synced, the song was removed. When I readded the song, it went to the "Songs" portion and not the Artist as well. I mean the song is on my iPhone and that's good, but it's a hassle when I want to listen to it and I have to scroll through my library just to find it. Help?

You have to have Automatic Download enabled.
On the iPhone go to Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Enable Automatic Downloads for Music, Apps, and iBooks, also you can make the choice if it should download over cellular data.
iTunes: Edit> Prefrences > Store > Enable Automatic Downloads.

I understand you are having issues with a couple of songs you recently purchased. It may be that these songs did not download fully, or correctly. The best troubleshooting step may be to delete the songs from your library, and re-download using iTunes in the Cloud (if available in your country).

Occasionally, if a song purchased from the iTunes Store on a Mac or PC was not downloaded completely, the song may not play back fully. The song may abruptly stop during playback, and iTunes may start playing the next song in your library or playlist.

1. Delete the purchased song that is exhibiting the problem from your iTunes library.

Yes ... if just one song on an album is doing that, it usually means you've got a damaged file on your hands.
