HT1495 Syncing multiple devices to one computer

I have 4 iPhones synced to my computer. I have them each set up with their own folders to sync music from. Random songs are now showing up on my iPhone, even though they're not in the folder that I have my phone synced to.
How do I remove them from my phone?

You can remove songs from your iPhone by swiping on the name of the song and selecting "Delete".

  • Syncing multiple devices to one computer

We have one mac book, two iphones and an ipad and are having trouble syncing them all to the one computer.  I have set up a different user account (with the itunes library shared across all users) for one iphone and ipad (who belong to the one person).  However when we connect these devices it states that they have already been synced with an itunes account and will need to erase it to do so.  They iphone was set up with an old computer and the new ipad through icloud.  I have selected to manually manage the music (both with the old and new computer) but itunes keeps telling me it will have to erase the iphone/ipad to sync with this computer - all we really want to do is put music on the devices but definitely don't want to loose the contacts and all the other information.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks

Iphone will sync or manually manage with one and only one computer/library at a time.  Syncing or manually managing to another will indeed erase the current content  this is the design of the iphone.
If you have your contacts on the new computer ( you shold have moved them along with everything else to the new computer), then nothing will be lost.

  • HT1495 how can i sync aps on multiple devices on one computer

Trying to use multiple devices on same computer but don't want the devices to have all the same aps.  how can i seperate that without having to check the aps i want each time a sync?

Assuming the photos are in an iPhoto Library on the Air and you want to import them into your iPhoto Library on your Powermac there is an application that can copy all photos in the Air library that are not in your Powermac library into your Powermac library.  However, no keywords or other metadeata willl be brought over with them and they will come over in a new event each time you run it. Take a look at: Sync iPhoto libraries | SyncPhotos (formerly iPhotoSync) | Haystack Software.
There's another application,  iPhoto Library Manager, that will let you copy events or albums from the Air library to the Powermac library. However, you will have to select the events/albums you want to copy. It's not automatic.  This method will copy keywords and other metadata along with the photos.

  • HT1351 Syncing multiple devices on one iMac

Need help on syncing multiple devices with different content on one iMac so each device  remains unique. How's is that done? Do not want apps copied over, I  want each device to have its own apps pictures music etc....

Plug your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad into iTunes via the USB dock cable.
Find it listed under Devices in the left sidebar and click on it.
Go through the tabs on the top of the iTunes window and select the music, movies, apps, podcasts, etc. you want to sync.
Your selection can include none, all/automatic, or just the exact content you wish.
    Sync!
    Repeat with all yourdevices.
    Or you can do this:
Option+Click on the iTunes icon and choose Create Library and go from there.
Switching library is just an Option+Click away, this means you can choose 2 diff libraries.

  • Syncing multiple iPones with one computer

What is the easiest way to sync 11 iphones with one computer? At work im in charge of 11 iPhones and need to manage them from one computer. Each user has there own apple ID and different apps so on and so forth. I would like to be able to update all the phones without getting all there stuff mixed up or losing there data.

Well, you're gonna have to log into each user's account in itunes, then sync their phone, log out, log the next user in, sync, etc.
Make sure you DO NOT SYNC CONTACTS, CALENDARS or stuff like that or you will screw things up!

  • HT1495 Syncing multiple devices on the same computer.

There are 2 phone and an itouch that get synced to the same iTunes, 2 are under the same apple ID, the other is different. The music is an easy fix on syncing the different devices, but there is an issue with the apps. The apps on the itouch automatically get synced to the phones when plugged into the computer, even though 1 device is under a different apple ID. I can manually uncheck them but that is a pain in the butt. Is there an easier way to do this?? Please help! Thanks!!

Yes, you can backup multiple devices in DM.  The backups will be separate.  Not sure if they will go to separate folders, though.

  • Sync multiple devices with one iTunes library without apps

    Hi,
I've got multiple iOS devices in the house (not all are mine).
Each person has his own iTunes account with their app purchases, while we share the same iTunes music library under one account on the Mac.
What I want to do is to sync the music on all the devices but NOT sync the apps and NOT keep them on the Mac.
I want that every device has his own set of apps but they are not copied on the Mac. May I just disable syncing of apps and delete them from the Mac?
What happens if I want to restore my device? I should have the apps data in the backup right? But how can I restore the apps themselves? (if the answer is possibile only with iOS 5 and iCloud is fine, because all our devices are going to be updated to iOS 5 and I can wait until its release)
    Thanks for your help!

Your iTunes collection is individual to computer, not in the cloud somewhere and synchronizing to your computer from there.  In other words, if you delete a file on one computer it will still be on the others until you delete it from there.  Likewise, if it is on one computer that is not a guarantee it will be on other computers. The closest to this is some of the automated downloading Apple does if you buy things from them.   You will just need to make sure your desktop is really up to date before wiping your media from the other computers.

  • HT1495 Using multiple iPads on one computer and account

How to set up multiple iPads one one computer and one account?

Not a problem since each device is distinguished by a unique name and has its own sync settings for apps, music, photos, etc.

  • How do I sync multiple ipods to one computer?

How do I sync multipleipods through one computer?  I know it must be pretty basic but I cannot get it.  I have my Itunes store account up, but my wifes ipod info is up on the left side of the screen.  I do not want to sync to her info and the messages acknowledge that it is my ipod connected.

Connect each one separately. Sync it with your desired info using iTunes. Then do the same with each device. You may configure the desired info separately for each device as long as each device has a different name. You can change the name from the sidebar listing in iTunes.

  • What is the easiest way to sync multiple ipads to one computer

Is it possible to (easily) sync multiple (10) Ipads to one computer?  My hope is to have all ten sales reps in the field, with the same info on their ipads.

I wouldn't say that it is easily done, but it can be done, the reason I don't say easily is because it has to be done individually one at a time. And I assume that you are talking about all ten having the same apps?

  • Syncing Multiple iPhones to one computer question

    Hello,
I am an iPhone owner, and I have always used my PC to sync the phone with iTunes. A friend of mine also owns an iPhone, however he doesn't have access to a computer with iTunes and was hoping to use mine. He's made several purchases between apps and music with the phone, and we want to sync some of his music from the iTunes library on my PC without causing him to lose the stuff already stored on his device. Is it possible to do this? When we tried before it looked like it was going to delete his purchases from the phone since they were not purchased with my account, which is the one I sign in to in my iTunes.
    Thanks in advance.

Itunes content ( apps/music/pics/etc) can be synced with only one computer.
If you sync to a different one, it will erase the itunes content from the iphone and replace with content from the new computer.

  • HT1495 syncing multiple ipads with one master ipad

Does anyone have any advice on getting multiple ipads (aprox 10) to sync with one master ipad?

Without connecting the iPad to your computer ...... Launch iTunes and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices. Turn off auto sync by clicking on the box at the bottom that says ..... Prevent iPods, iPhones ...etc. Click OK. Quit iTunes
Connect the master iPad to the computer and launch iTunes.
Transfer any purchases from the master iPad into iTunes via File>Transfer purchases from the menu at the top of iTunes or right click on the iPad name under the devices heading and select Transfer Purchases. Let the process complete.
Next .... right click on the iPad name on the left side of the iTunes window under the devices heading and select - Backup. Let the backup process computer. Then sync with iTunes  and eject the iPad
Connect the next iPad and right click on the iPad name under the devices heading and select - Restore from backup. Select the backup of the first iPad and let the process complete and then sync with iTunes. Eject the iPad.
Connect the next iPad and follow the same procedure and do the same with the rest of the devices.

  • ICloud Sync - Multiple devices and one AppleID

So your contacts and calendar will sync automatically between your Mac, iPhone, iPad.  And you can backup your stuff.  And it does this based on your AppleID.
I, like I suspect many others, have an iPhone and iPad for me and my significant other.  And we have two Macs.  We both used the same AppleID.  We clearly would not want to "merge" our contacts and calendars, or any backups.
Why do we share an AppleID?  So we only have to purchase music, iOS apps, Mac apps, once for the family.  Multiple AppleIDs is not an option as that negates a primary benefit of the Apple ecosystem.  Apple has been pretty family friendly up to this point.  You can share an AppleID with 5 devices today (if you have that many Macs or PCs), in my case we are talking 2.  And they did still say you can buy Lion in the app store and use it on all your AppleID authorized machines.
I suppose you could maybe just turn all that stuff off and forget the iCloud part of Lion and iOS5.  But I have to believe that is going to cut out a significant segment of the population from using iCloud services.
Anyone know how Apple is going to handle that situation?

OK, here is how do make this work.  All the details I can think of to give . ..
On any IOS device there is an entry for the Apple ID to be used for store purchases.  You will find this in Settings > Store.
On any IOS device there are several Apple ID entries for using iCloud services.  You will find these in Settings > iCloud and Settings > Messages.
Then there are also Apple ID entries in some apps, like Facetime, Find my Friends, . . .
Set them as you wish.  If you have a shared family Apple ID for purchases then put that one in Store.  And give each family member their own Apple ID for iCloud.
This is also true on your Mac.  For the iCloud settings you can use one Apple ID, and a different one for the iTunes store.
Cannot get any easier than that.
In my case I am using one Apple ID for the Store, and separate iCloud Apple IDs for each family member.  That way someone does not use the wrong ID and trash the person who would be using the Store Apple ID.  There is no personal data on the Store Apple ID.  Seems much safer and logical that way (to me).  However, there is no reason why you could not have the Store Apple ID also be used by one person for iCloud.
Not sure what else can be said here.  Apple provided a good solution for those of us who have been sharing an Apple ID in the family.  Thanks Apple!

  • How do I use iCloud if I have multiple devices using one computer/library, but I don't want contacts, calender, etc. to be shared? Can each device have it's own Apple ID and still pull music, apps, etc. from one library?

Both my mother, father, and I recently got iPhones. We've all had iPods in the past and been able to survive under a single Apple ID/iCloud account. Now that we all have iPhones, we've heard a couple horror stories about parents and kids contacts and calenders merging when they are registered under the same Apple ID. What steps should we take to avoid this problem? We would still like to be able to share the same music, apps, videos, etc. If we all get individual Apple IDs, can we still all use the same iTunes library we have on our computer without any pitfalls?
Thank you! A response would be much appreciated(:

You can share the same Apple ID for purchasng form the iTunes and app stores without any problems, but you should all used separate iCloud accounts with separate Apple IDs.  (You are not required to use the same ID for iCloud and other services as you do for the iTunes store.)  This will prevent you from ending up with merged data.  You should also use separate Apple IDs for iMessage and FaceTime or you will end up getting each other's text messages and FaceTime calls.
