It appears that iTunes 11 does not allow for the "dragging" and "dropping" of music from a library onto a manually managed device.. is that true? I am trying to drag a playlist onto my iPhone. I've done it many times before on previous versions of iTunes but now that the menu is up in the heading, I can't drag the playlist onto the icon for my iPhone.

No.
Sync you are not syncing, the ONLY way to get items onto a manually managed device is to drag and drop.
However, I feel a much simpler way is to create a playlist and add/remove songs from this playlist and autosync this playlist (or multiple playlists). I use about 6 or 7 playlists
You can still also drag & drop songs while autosycning.

Are you sure that those are regular playlists (music note symbol) and not smart playlists (gear symbol)? Smart playlists populate themselves according to their rules, and you cannot drag songs into them.

Suggestion for a drag and drop schedule calendar from a database?

Anyone suggest / help with a drag and drop task scheduler/calendar on an hour by hour day by day basis, from a database?

What parts are you finding inelegantI was a little worried about the possibility of the image lagging behind the mouse pointer. If the application was repainting every time it got a mouse motion event, it might not keep up. And, of course, there is a level-of-effort consideration for the implementation.
Custom cursors?This was actually my first thought. It would certainly be the easiest solution. I've done custom cursors before, but I was a bit worried about the overhead... Not that I have any specific reason, it's just that the application would be changing cursors quite often and I'm used to thinking of cursors as a special system resource that an application shouldn't mess with... Of course, what was true 20 years ago, is not necessarily true today.
Does anyone know if this would be an issue? Can I use custom cursors reasonably freely without serious impact on the graphics subsystem?

Why the drag and drop of clips from events browser to project browser isn't working any more

My iMovie was working fine, but suddenly I'm not able any more to drag and drop select parts of a clip from event browser to the project browser. I read other people got this issue. Is there a solution? Thanks a lot

I had the same problem. Fixed it by repairing disk permissions with disk utility.

I can't drag and drop any music from iTunes into the iPad tab on the left it just come up with a red cross ? Help !

I just up loaded a load of music onto my computer and then when I press ctrl and s and try to drag the album tag over the iPad one it just comes up with a red cross and won't let me drop anything in it !

You will need to Sync your iPad and all Music/Albums Selected will transfer over from iTunes..

I bought a 5th Gen Touch. I use iTunes 12 on two computers. One computer allows me to drag and drop. The other does not.The one that allows it has problems. Any idea as to why I can drag and drop on one and not the other. Both are authorized.

I first connected the Touch to my desktop and it allows me to drag and drop mp3 files from my old Classic, which is backed up to a directory. Unfortunately, that computer has gone down before I got a chance to fill the Touch. I have the files on another computer but when I connect the Touch to it, it doesn't allow me to drag and drop the files. I have iCloud set on both systems and I have manual management check marked. I'm not understanding why it allows drag and drop on one PC and not the other when they are both set the same way. My question? What do I need to do to be able to drag and drop in iTunes 12? I didn't do anything special on the computer that allows it so I am at a loss.

An mp3 file on my computer will not import to itunes by either the drag-and-drop or the Add File to Library method. Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. My OS is Windows 7.

I purchased an mp3 from a private website on my laptop. The itunes library i sync ipod to is on my desktop, so i copied the mp3 onto a flash drive and then into my desktop in the Downloads folder and Desktop folder as well as the itunes music folder, 3 places. I opened itunes on the desktop and read the instructions for importing music that's already in my computer. Neither the drag-and-drop or the Add File to Library method works. I've tried both ways over and over. Cannot figure out what the problem is. I do note that the name of the mp3 file doesn't show the .mp3 extension, it appears as simply it's title, Eating Healthy, without any extension at all. Could the filename be the problem, or do you have any other idea what I'm doing wrong? My OS is Windows 7, using IE9. Thanks.
ADDENDUM AFTER READING ANOTHER DISCUSSION HERE: I have now tried right clicking the song in Windows Explorer and choosing Open With, clicking itunes. The mp3 plays in itunes but does not add to the library.

I don't have a Recently Added playlist. However, I discovered that the file I had named Eating Healthy was given the name You Can Enjoy Eating Healthy when it copied to iTunes. I'm guessing iTunes pulled the full name of the piece from the internet. Upshot--the mp3 did transfer to iTunes on all 3 tries, but I was looking in my alphabetized list under E, not Y, so I didn't see it there. Thanks for your help.

Firefox does not allow me to drag and drop files on FTP site anymore. It used to work before.

Hi. I have a Linux FTP server at a client's office. They used to use IE and I moved them to firefox. They could at one stage, drag and drop (upload) files and documents using only firefox and not a third party software. Somehow this stop working. Is there any setting in firefox that can be changed in order to allow drag and drop without using a third party software? This client is very fussy and does not want to use third party software, as the drag and drop worked before. This is their argument.

1- of course i know i have to accept the change, i just don't recall specifically whether or not iPhoto itself was one of the recent updates i accepted. lol
2-this is not true - a few years back, it was a 2 step process. Then it changed with one of the upgrades, and i have been able (as long as i selected 4x3 *book* as opposed to 4x3 *dvd*) to drag between orientations for the past few years - at LEAST 2 years, maybe as many as 4 (I lose track). I remember thinking at the time what a wonderful upgrade that was because it did away with all that needless clicking. Now all of a sudden this month, it has been switched off - am I the only one who has noticed this?
I have been creating an annual 'family photo album' book via iPhoto for several years now, and i use the 4x3 book sizing specifically for that reason, so I've got lots of experience using this setting. I *know* it used to work the other way.

Okay...no replies as yet so I've been having a play.
I have the latest version of iTunes from the Apple site and my tracks have been downloaded from the net into MP4's in one file.Now,if I try and 'DND' into any of the music folders nothing happens....EXCEPT when I hover he cursor over 'iTunes DJ'....when released the tracks can now be found in 'Recently Added' folder,and can be played.
Now...how do I get them into a folder ? Well,it's time for bed so will play again tomorrow (although I bet i'm up until 1am trying to figure it out !! ).

It lets me play the song from the folder in my computer and then it opens with iTunes and plays the song all the way through, but then if I try to play it again, it says the file cannot be located. So then I go to locate and go to the folder and all that and select it and nothing happens.

Not sure whether for instance you initially had a Yahoo optimised version of Firefox, and have now overwritten it with an official Mozilla version. Although the Mozilla version should NOT add unwanted features, but the Yahoo version may well do.
If you merely need to find the Yahoo emails page quickly just add it as a bookmark or as a bookmark on the Bookmarks toolbar and make sure that is visible.
Clicking the star icon on the location bar whilst looking at your emails will bookmark the page.

I've downloaded the new iTunes update but I can't seem to do a drag and drop with playlists from my PC/mac onto my external Apple devices (2x iPads, iPod and my iPhone)
Is this lost functionality or a new "feature"
I don't want iCloud and Home Sharing doesn't work for me...
Any ideas....?
I can include songs onto a device but only one at a time wheras I need to drag the whole playlist...

No, I haven't had any solution to this problem. None of the myriad of possible solutions work. Doesn't someone from Apple monitor these boards? I've given up in getting it fixed and am seriously ****** at the lack of response on Apple's part without me paying for an answer. This is a ridiculous way to support software, where I have to troll around a discussion board hoping someone stumbled upon a solution and will actually reply to this thread.
Considering the amount of Apple products that I own, you'd think I could get a freakin' response. Here's are the amount of apple products in my house, all bought within the past 3 years-
