HT1535 Is there a workaround when I can't 'manage' music manually w/erase & sync prompt?

I'm trying to put music from iTunes on my wife's iPhone 4S. I've checked 'manually manage' but when I click 'apply,' I get the erase-and-sync prompt. She doesn't want to lose whatever is on her phone. Is there a workaround for getting the music on there? Thanks.

As I said, all software has been updated - I just hadn't updated my OS listing in my discussions profile.
My Touch works just fine, I'm just limited to managing music in my general library in iTunes then syncing it - can't manage music within the iPod in iTunes - I can see it, but can't manage it.

  • I am trying to move music from my computer without syncing or loosing my iPhone music.  When I change the manage music manually (which all of the forums say is the way to do it) I get a notice that says I will loose the existing songs!

I have been with Apple from the 80's and have tried to flow with the changes, but seriously, this simply *****!
I am taking a class and have 2 songs that are on my macbookpro, I need to get them onto the phone WITHOUT deleting the rest of the songs already on the phone.   No! I dont want to erase the phone! and I also dont want the music on the phone to be moved to the computer because the computer is occasionally accessed by my students

Well, most of what we can tell you is already stated in the message you are getting.  A phone can only sync with one library at a time.  You have apparently synced your phone with a different iTunes library in the past, or changes have been made to this library so the phone no longer recognizes it as the library with which it was synced.  To know which you will have to provide the information.
If you bought them using the AppleID you use with this phone it may simply be easier to re-download them directly to the phone rather than sync them, though you will want to resolve that issue at some point.

  • My wife can no longer transfer music from her library onto her iphone 3gs. When I click manage music manually it says she has another library, nothing has changed and everything is up to date. Help!

We have seperate profiles too, on our windows laptop, and seperate music libraries, and mine works fine... Managing music manually says she has another library connected, but this is simply not the case. When I check in preferences, it has the correct filepath... So now nothing from her library with transfer over. Using iTunes 11.01 but this happened on 11.

Why have Apple made this so bloody annoyingly complicated. She bought a downloader from the Apple store and downloaded music on her phone which I subsiquently downloaded to our laptop. I placed this music into the iTunes Folder. I even went ot the correct location to see if it was there, and it was! But now, nothing in her library will transfer, even purchased music. Clicking on the Manage Music Manually button only makes it say that she has more than one library and her phone will be wiped if she goes any further. What is the bloody story with iTunes!!? It looks lovely but works like something out of the dark ages. No wonder people are moving to Android in droves...
Anyway, any help, ideas or criticisms will be welcomed. Nothing I have tried (updates etc) has worked. I have checked the files in question, the format is fine, they even play in iTunes which means they must exist. I have physically checked this too, so what's the story???

  • HT5625 I have shared an apple id with my daughter over the past several years.  She is in college now and our music tastes aren't quite the same.  Is there a way that I can extract my music to a new user id without closing out my daughters?

You can't transfer music purchased from the iTunes store to another ID.  You can, of course, create a new ID and start using that for purchasing your music.  Just create the ID, then go to Settings>iTunes & App Store, tap the existing ID, sign out, then sign back in with the new ID.
If your issue is that music purchased by her on her device is automatically downloading to yours, you can turn this off by going to Settings>iTunes & App Store, and turning Music off under Automatic Downloads.  Then you can continue to share the same iTunes ID without continuing to automatically download each other's purchased music.

  • Replaced hard drive on Mac, now I can't manually manage music on Itunes. Itunes prompted me to erase everything on Iphone.

I changed my mac hard drive, but when I plugged my Iphone in, Itunes will not let me manually manage my music anymore. It says the iphone can only be synced to one library at a time and I must delete everything on the Iphone to let me manage music. How can I find a workaround to this?

    > Transfer your itunes library from your backup external disc.<
How do ya do that? I might give that a shot for a similar issue. (I'm trying to put iTunes music onto her iPhone 4S and have checked the 'manually manage' box, but when I click apply, I get the 'Erase & Sync' prompt ... and she's not willing to let me do that. So she's got no music on her iPhone. Don't have that problem when I go to add music on her iPad, though.)

There are some third party applications designed to do this. Have a look at this one for instance and see what you think: syncOtunes

  • I have two iPhones associated to the same Apple ID. Can I manage music

I now have two iPhones (4s & 5s) associated to the same Apple ID. I am
    giving my wife the 4S.
We like different music & apps from one another. Can I manage music & apps independently on each device even though they have the same Apple ID Association?
    Thanks

Yes, but I highly recommend each have your own, separate AppleID and your own computer login to manage your own data separately.

  • Firefox 8, will not save username on some sites, is there a settings file I can add it to manually?

For most sites, FF8 saves my login info. For some sites it will not even save my username. One site in particular, it used to be saved (I think I added it to a settings file somewhere in a previous version), but I deleted that login username, and now I can't get it to save my new username.
Is there a file somewhere that can be edited so that the username does show up?
    Thanks,

The website may be using autocomplete=off to prevent Firefox from saving the name and password.
You can remove autocomplete=off with a bookmarklet to make Firefox save the name and password.

  • Can I put music from iPod Shuffle, synced to computer A, onto iPhone4, synced to computer B?

Can I put music from old iPod Shuffle, synced to computer A, onto new iPhone4, synced to computer B?  Both devices and both computers belong to me.  Computers are not on same LAN.

You can if the music was puchased with the same AppleID.
Synch the iPod Shuffle with computer B to get it's songs onto that computer.  Then resynch the iPhone4 to computer B.

  • Why am I unable to enter keyboard strokes for messages in Yahoo when I can otherwise manage my Yahoo messages and when this does not happen with Internet Explo?

I can write and send emails in Yahoo mail when I use Internet Explorer. But I hate Internet Explorer. For the past two days, I have been unable to use the keyboard to enter email recipients, unable to enter anything in the cc, bcc or subject lines, and unable to enter any text in the body of the message. I have installed the Mozilla program to improve the inter-face with Yahoo, but that has not helped.

  • Can't place music manually in correct genre

    Hi,
Within the music library you have several tabs like "genre, albums, artists,..."
My problem specificly is that some songs i have are in my opinion placed in the wrong genre, tho i cant find a way to place them into the genre i want it in.
I can click and drag the song from electronic to, for example, electronic but it's not moving. It doesn't do anything when i release after i dragged it to electronic. It stays in dance.
Also is it possible to add my own genre name, like techno for example? Can't find a way either to do that. I'm not talking about playlists here. I just wanne organize my songs/albums into the right genre section.
    Thx!

If you right mouse click on a song or album and select Get Info you set the Genre using the drop down box at the bottom of the window. If you want to add your own specific Genre just type it in. Click OK when done. The new Genre is then available in the dropdown list for other tracks

  • I can't manage music files in Itunes.

I keep getting a user privilage message saying i don't have admin priviliges when I am the admin. When I try to change them I can only access all users and not my specific log in. I updated permmisions and I still get the same message.

    1) find an MP3 file on your file system (in Windows Explorer)
    2) Right click on it to get contextual menu
    3) Select Properties
    4) on the General Tab the text "opens with" appears - in your case it'll be windows Media Player
    5) Click Change
    6) Select ITunes
    7) Select Always for this type checkbox
    8) Now try double clicking on an MP3 file
    9) Does it start playing in ITunes?
    10) Check Itunes settings: Edit>Preferences>Advanced
    11) Are the checkboxes Keep Itunes folder organized and Copy to Itunes foler when adding selected? If not - read the manual to understand what those two settings do

  • How can I manage music library from iphone

Is there a way to manage playlists (i.e. add a song purchased from iPhone) from the phone, and have it sync via WiFi to iMac?

Not from a standard feature from the phone.
Alternatively you can install a remote desktop like.. TeamViewer 7 and remote desktop the computer..
But it would be alot easier to do it on the computer..
