What exactly is stored under "OTHER" on your iPhone that you only see when it's connected to iTunes?
Ok, here is how the story have ended for my iPhone 4S.
I took the phone to the genius bar 500-km far from my town. And they told me to wait 20 mins and then they asked what's wrong with the phone. They first thought the battery is dead. But then they changed the battery with a sure-it's-working-battery. But no luck. And told me that "logic board" has gone (why? -no explanation. it just happens).
And then they checked the warranty and noticed that it was expired 29 days ago (the phone was bought from Chicago and I'm in Europe now). Since it's expired, I'm told that it can't be replaced with no cost. I should pay 200 Euros to get a "new" iPhone 4S (you know what is "new" means, refurbished). Or I could buy a brand-new-iPhone5 for 600 Euros.
I'm not rich person and I decided to go with the refurbished one. So, as summary,
- 13 months iPhone is dead. (~500$)
- a refusrbished phone with 3 months of warranty (200 Euro)
- Lost data (I admit that this is my fault not to care about the backup but after phone is dead, I didn't have any way to save data).
I can say that, if you have too much money, yes, Apple products are worth to buy.

You can do a restore using iTunes which will remove a big chunk of the Other stuff. It also includes things like email, and apps that didn't download properly.
I did a restore as new and then loaded my apps, music, etc and got back a couple gigs of room.
the easies thing you can do is not to keep too much email saved on your phone. I only keep a couple of weeks back and that saves me a lot of room. I can always get on a computer and log into my email accounts if I need something older than that. -
I can update FF while in admin mode but when I switch back to my user log-in it says I still need to update and has been this way since 3.6 at least.
FF is also leaving ghost images from other apps as it is shut down you can see, not sure if it is a memory leak or what but it is a little annoying.That is a legitimate Mozilla newsletter. As it says in the email:

My iPhone was connected to my computer and to itunes. I deleted apps from my iPhone directly, when it was connected. Now I am unable to sync my iPhone.
When I try and sync, it goes through the process then a message appears:
" iTunes cannot sync apps to the iPhone because the apps installed on the iPhone could not be determined."
On the 'apps' tab in iTunes, a list of 13 apps appears, when I now only have 6 on my phone.
This is stopping the iPhone syncing fully, and I want to upload all my music to the phone.
Does anybody have any idea what I could do? I am reluctant to add all the apps again as soem I have to pay for, and one, Post Secret is no longer available.

i forgot my password and i cant get inYou'll need to connect the device to iTunes and restore it. If iTunes doesn't recognize the iPod still, try manually placing it in recovery mode first and then performing the restore in iTunes. See this article for instructions on putting the iPod into recovery mode.

What is stored under "other" category on the iPad?
The long and short of it is that you will probably have to restore your iPad. That giant "other" space is a sign of a corrupt file from a sync, I am pretty sure, but I am quite sure that the way to resolve it is to restore the iPad.
You can search the discussion site for similar threads but I think you will find that a restore is the way to correct it. Read this one.

You could have more 5 computers authorized if you ever, for example, reformatted a hard drive or replaced a hard drive without deauthorizing the computer first. You won't lose any data. Mistimp is correct, they can't tell you which computers are authorized. -
When trying to sign into facebook in settings for ios6, I get an error that says "You cannot sign in from your iPhone since you have opted out of Facebook Platform." What gives?
More info: I've combed through the settings in facebook and there is nothing that shows I'm blocking anything from accessing it.Sure sounds like a Facebook setting. When you look at your Privacy Settings in Facebook (on facebook.com), you should see something under "Apps you use" that says
Turn off your ability to use apps, plugins, and websites on and off Facebook. After you turn this off, we will not store information about you when you use apps or websites off Facebook.
The "Turn off" is a hyperlink that shuts down the Facebook platform. If you don't see this, or if the wording is different, you may have (inadvertently?) shut this off, and should be able to turn it back on.
Edit: The sequence to that screen on facebook.com is: Privacy Settings (from the upper right dropdown), then "Ads, Apps and Websites" will have an "Edit settings" link to the right. This is where you'll see the "Apps you use" screen. -

I have a 2 yr old Iphone 4 and have not backed up or connected to Itunes up for 1 yr. I have new Windows 7 computer and want to connect and copy Itunes backed up folder from external HD (a year ago) to new computer and install new Itunes and new IOS. What steps should I take and what precautions? I don't want to lose any data on my phone such as music, photos, contacts, notes, texts etc, nor lose music from prior backed up Itune folder. You will have to restore your iPad to unlock it now. you wamt to restore to the same computer that you sync with so that you can restore all of your data and settings.

Thank you for your reply, I did go to my general settings, but for some odd reason I don't have a restrictions setting, or a reset setting. I thought I could reset all the setting to see if it could be that, but as I said there aren't any.
My husband also has the iPad 2, and also did the software update and hasn't had any problems at all. I took both iPad's and compared the settings thinking maybe there could be a setting that could have been changed when the update was done. -
