HT1536 .AVI codecs that support retina display.

Is there one that works?

All was fine until the organiztion's PC went south (10years old). I am covering with my personal equipment until a replacement can be approved and aquired. As fate would have it I just recently replaced my dying MacBook Air with a !3' Retina MacBookPro.
Thanks for the apmplifying info. This is a "horse of a different color." Had thought you were referring to the "Retina" iPad. Platform display type should not make a difference, Mac OS X version, QT player version, and compression format(s) used in the AVI container make all the difference in the world here.
Basic question is whether or not you have installed Perian and the QT 7 player app on the new system. Perian plus the QT 7 player basically support most AVI compression formats currently compatible with Mac OS X operating systems. Remember AVI is a legacy file format that has not been supported by Microdoft for more than 11 years. Some PC codecs have never been transcoded for OS X or Mac Intel platform use, some AVI files simply cannot be played by the QT players.
I have been unable to get .avi video to play on the MacBook using QuickTime Player and Flip4Mac. Neither currently supports .AVI for Retina is my understanding. I am looking for a temporary solution to just time play .AVI files once and done.
The real question is "what compression formats are you trying to play?" and "in which QT player on your new system?" If both QT 7 and Perian are installed and if the QT X player cannot play the AVI file natively, it will normally ask the user if he or she wants to play the file in the QT 7 player. To further complicate matters, since the introduction of Lion, Apple has, by default, turned off legacy codecs used by the embedded QT structure which were normally used natively for AVI export.
If playback is all you are interested in, then VLC can be used for this purpose since it includes its own codec resources within the app. The QT 7 player plus the Perian codec package provides similar playback capabilities. On the other hand, if you want to play and/or convert common AVI codec content to QT compatible files without purchasing a commercial conversion app, then you can use Perian (for decoding) and either QT 7 Pro ($29 USD) or the free MPEG Streamclip app (for encoding to any available export codec for which your system is configured).

  • Does photoshop elements 12 editor on app store support retina display

    Hello.
I was wondering if anyone has downloaded photoshop elements 12 editor from the app store and does it support the retina display function. I know that the version you get from adobe ( elements 12) does not support this function. The reason I ask is that I have elements 11 and that does not support retina display and the screen image does not look crisp. I would of thought that because it comes from apple/app store themselves it should, but i don't won't to upgrade if it is still the same. I am running O S X 10.9.2 software if this helps.Cheers

Hi Barbara I´ve done what you suggested and I´m having the same problem. Its freezed. Is there any way I can download the update? I´m
stuck with a Photoshop that doesnt work. Adobe says that they cant help without a serial number and apple doesnt let me update. This is the most bizarre I have lived in terms of software.

  • Is the photoshop CC and lightroom CC support retina display ?

    Hi, my name is Riyadh
is the photoshop CC and lightroom CC support retina display ?
and is the photoshop CS6 & CS6 extended support retina display ?
and what is the product of adobe dose not support retina display ?
    Thank you for response

Photoshop and Lightroom run on nearly any display supported by the operating system.  For example I run on a 2880×1800 display on my Windows 8.1 desktop system. That's the same resolution as the Mac Retina display.  If you're asking whether there are special features designed to format images for the particular Retina display sizes, the answer is no.
Currently there are (5) different "Retina Display" dimensions

Well, yes, PEC, that's exactly what the link provided in Kendall's reply #1 above says.
Thanks for clarifying the ambiguity of the original post.

I am programmer and I am using dr java on my mac-book pro with retina display but dr java doesn't support retina display, what is the possible way to solve this ?

I have made some progress.... I can print wirelessly from my printer now, but I can't set the printer itself to be wireless.  I had to move my printer downstairs to where my router is...which is not that convient.   I printed up the page you asked about....and as expected, it says it is off line and there is no IP address.    So now I need to figure out how to make my printer itself wireless.  I did download the HP driver I needed...but I can't access it to do anything else.  It seems l like I am missing a step... or I need to hook up my computer itself to the printer to help get the printer to be wirelss, but I can't hook it up because there is no port for me to do that (no port that looks like a phone jack).  I am guessing I would need a different type of cord, but I am not sure what kind of cord that would be! Ugh!

  • HT5639 Does Bootcamp 5 support retina displays?

Unlike parallels, where the text is enlarged and resolution is increased. The native feel of the menu and taskbar is not scaled. Seems extremely inconsistent. Does Bootcamp 5 scale windows 8 properly (the way it should look on the standard display)?

Boot Camp 5 supports Retina displays, and you can easily modify the look of Windows on the Retina display after installing Boot Camp drivers on Windows. Although the article hasn't been updated for Windows 8, it's the same, so see the last two questions > http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5266

  • QuickTime need codec to play avi on MacBook Pro retinal display but not on other Mac's with Mountain Lion?

Why will avi play on all my Mac's with Mountain Lion but not on my Retinal Display 13" Macbook Pro? Quicktime players are the same, OS are the same plugins are the same and up to date. Get the missing Codec warning only on retinal display.

You don't say if your MacBook Pro is the new version that supports USB 3, if not the card reader will default to USB 2. The Ultra II is listed as 10Mb/s on old cards and 15MB/s on new cards, both within USB 2 specification. Extreme III are listed as 20MB/s old cards and 30MB/s new. These 30 MB/s maybe a bit too much for USB 2, not sure. see http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1111
If the Macbook Pro as USB 3 support it could be that it does not recognise the card reader as USB 3 and default to USB 2.
    See Apple URL http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5172?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
    Bullet point 11 may help.
Of course the card reader could be faulty and not read the Extreme III cards unless you have verified it working in other situations.
    regards

  • Does LPX fully support retina displays or is there still pixelation issues?

I've been using LP9 for a while now and recently upgraded to the retina display macbook pro which displayed quite a lot of pixelation in LP9. Does LPX fully support retina screens?

There is an Apple document which specifies that key 1 should be used for WEP configuration and recommends using WPA or WPA2 for wireless security: iPad: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections. It's too bad that you didn't find this when you had problems.
The iPad will work with WPA-TKIP or WPA2-AES. AES provides much stronger security. There is much misinformation on the Internet on this subject.
WEP is insecure, obsolete and has been deprecated by the IEEE since 2004. There is no chance that Apple or anyone else will waste resources on enhancing WEP implementations. For more information on the tattered history and vulnerabilities of WEP read this: WEP - Wired Equivalent Privacy
I'm glad to hear that you got your system working. Your post was well-written and might help someone else.

  • Codec that supports 0,75 aspect ratio 1920x1080

    Hello there.
My camera happens to churn out 1920x1080 0,75 aspect ratio 25fps MP4 videos. GSpot also gives the following information; Codec: avc1 and Name: H.264/MPEG-4 AVC. Hopefully that's enough info.
Usually these work just fine with After Effects, but this is second occasion I actually have to run them through Media Encoder to get them working. Should not be big deal, happened once before and After Effects did accept files after they had been once encoded. The problem is, I don't seem to be capable of finding format that suits the said video type. All I want is as identical as possible file that I can work with. First I thought I'd simply use H.264 -> Nope, you can't choose 0,75 aspect ratio and it squeezes video and adds black bars. Annoying. I tried few formats that had customizable aspect ratio (sliders... annoying too). They have varied resorts, some screwed up quality, some didn't allow me to use that high resolution (told me to increase level or profile even though they already were as high as they could) and some produced enormous files without the same quality.
Seriously, could you point me to fileformat/codec that keeps the same/similiar quality, supports aspect ratio like that and let's me continue my work? Messing with these encoding settings is almost enough to make a grown man cry. Remembering how much trouble I had last time (in the end resulted in enormous file size with almost the same quality, ridiculous) even thinking about this stresses me bit too much for my liking.
    Thanks in advance.

Hey, Mark. Thanks for your time.
Forgot to mention, it's interlaced. Good thing you included suggestions for both, though.
What makes you think the source content is 1440x1080? I'm quite sure it's 1920x1080, as it's the number given everywhere. I tried the H.264 Blu-Ray format, but it once again gave me the black bars both with 1440x1080 and 1920x1080. The 1920x1080 one was closer to the truth.
So the problem still stands, any further suggestions would be much appreciated.
    *edit*
Here is example of footage incase some of you want to try it out with your own encoders.

  • Powerpoint slideshow mode supports retina display?

Machine: Mid 2012 15" MBPro Retina
    OS: 10.8.4 (12E55)
    Application: MS Office 2011 14.3.5 (130515)
    Problem:
In Normal view, the slides, text, images do show in crispy retina. However, most importantly in SlideShow mode, the slides all gone back to the blurry low resolution world!
I am not sure if it only happens to me as I am so surprise that people are comfortable and not a single thread complaining about the SlideShow mode low resolution problem for almost a year ever since then! I hope it is only my problem, since that means you have the solution.
Please help, as there are still areas of effects and flexibilities I needed from PPT over Keynotes (even I have been switching over ). And it is hard for me to convince my colleagues in getting a retina now and then. Thank you!

People, I understand it is easy to reply without trying it by yourself and throwing in links. It would be nicer if you really understand the problem here.
@Galaxy Falls  Your KB link was an year ago, and I know it stated it supports retina, but IT ISN'T!. Gosh. Current resolution? You using a PC? LOL
Anyway, aiming to keep this thread free of confusion and assumptions, here are the screens.
(UPDATED: Click on the images to show actual size, otherwise it looks crispy here after auto-fit!)
    Screen resolution setting:
    Powerpoint Version:
(You can already tell the pixelated logo. LOL)
    In Edit mode:
    In Presentation Full-screen Mode:
Since this forum will auto fit the images attachments and therefore the full-screen snap looks shape. Thus, below is a side-by-side comparison of the same pptx file in full screen presentation mode on PowerPoint (left) and Keynote (right).
    Last shot, in presenter view:
By the way, I don't have time and not stupid enough creating a thread with faked screens. I just want to keep this thread with real problem, and real solution. Thanks.

  • Codec that supports 16 & 32 bit per channel color?

    What Quicktime 7 built-in codecs support hi-bit 16 & 32 bits per channel?

I assume you're working with image files.
The Animation codec supports 16 (Millions of Colors) and 32 (MIllions of Colors+). Great, fast encoding, high quality video.
    Photo-JPEG uses 32 bit.
If you're only using a single frame your could use TIFF, PNG for 16 and 32 bit and Photo-JPEG for 32.
What is the goal of this project?

  • Does Canon Digital Photo Professional work in Retina display?

The photos look blurr compared to viewing them in iPhoto. I guess this is because it is displaying the images in the simulated 1440 x 900 resolution instead of the MBP Retina 15" 2880 x 1800 native resolution.
Can it be forced to render in that mode or do we have to wait for Canon to release a new version that supports Retina display? Would any tweaks or modification of config files do the trick?
Even setting the scaled resolution to 1900 x 1200 the photos are still noticably blurr compared to when displayed in native resolution in iPhoto.

So far it seems that software in general has required adjustments by the programmers (not users) to add Retina support. If you have the latest version of DPP available on the Canon web site and it isn't working, I guess you'll have to wait until they do. (I don't have a Retina Mac yet so DPP works fine for me.)

  • Retina display and CS6 InDesign pixelation

    Hello,
Has there been no software update for InDesign CS6 that supports Retina display? I have recently upgraded my Macbook to a retina display and InDesign icons and text appears pixelated. It's really annoying! Is there any way to fix this? Is the fix purchase CC?
    Thanks!

Well yes, it was possible by rewriting the program. That became CC. It's a valid business decision to make that kind of change a new version rather than give away thousands of hours of work for free. The development team needs to be paid, and the stockholders expect some return on their investment. Do you do any work that gets a periodic revision? Do you charge the client for that revision, or do you just give them the new versions year after year? Should Ford or Chevy retrofit your car with batteries and a new engine to be a hybrid vehicle for free?

  • Hello, I have MacBook Pro with Retina display. How can I get retina support to my Adobe Acrobat pro? It is version 10.1.13 and it says it is up to date.

Hello, I have MacBook Pro with Retina display. How can I get retina support to my Adobe Acrobat pro? It is version 10.1.13 and it says it is up to date.

Problem is that my pdf files look terrible although I have MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014). I have Adobe Creative Suite Design  Standard version 6.0 (Mac). I have installed every possible update. I think problem is that for some reason my CS doesn´t support retina display? If I view a pdf file in iMessage, it looks fantastic. But if I open the same document in Adode Acrobat Pro, it looks awful. What can I do?
Thank you so much for your help.
