My 1st Gen Apple TV remote worked fine yesterday and today acts like it is unpaired (amber flash when I hit a button). Is there a way to pair it or another remote now?

A 5 GHz network cannot reach as far as a 2.4 GHz one, nor is it able to penetrate walls and the like anywhere near as well, it is not therefor always an ideal solution. It can help avoid interference from neighbouring networks but it may not avoid interference from other household appliances. You might want to try another wifi channel or even temporarily move the Apple TV closer to the AP for diagnostics.

You cannot retrieve passcode if you forget.
The only way is to wipe iPhone through iCloud and then restore from backup.

Iphoto won't open and has a message that it may be damaged or incomplete when I try to open. It worked fine yesterday and I loaded ilife 11 and now iphoto won't open.

After I loaded ilife 11 and tried to open iphoto, I could not and had a message saying it may be damaged or incomplete. It was working fine yesterday and I've never seen this message. What should I do?

First run Software Update so you have the latest version.
If you still have trouble then hold down CMD and OPT as you click on iPhoto. It will give you options to rebuild your library.

The timer still counts up as though it is still working but the volume turns gray or not at all and the little circle volume control disappears. How can I get my music working again?

Alas, I have tried that. I have also done this complicated uninstall and reinstall process. I have figured out in my battles with iTunes today that it will open when I am not connected to the Internet but as soon I turn on the wifi and go the iTunes store, iTunes crashes again.

Here is how.
None of the Apple-suggested ways worked. However, before totally giving up I started Roxio Popcorn and pressed the big eject button on it. It came out effortlessly!
So, I thought "Weird..."
I put the CD back in and reproduced my original problem. I got it out just as easily using Roxio Popcorn Eject feature.
So, I then thought "Maybe it is the disk?" There is nothing wrong with the disk as far as I can tell. It is perfectly round, has a smooth label-side surface. It is not even a label, it is a standard software install disk you buy in stores.
I inserted a different disk. The mini mounted it, I browsed it, and then ejected it by dragging it to trash. Worked fine.
I tried a few other disks.
The drive seems to work fine.
Maybe that CD is cursed, I dunno. I tried that disk in my PowerBook and it works fine there.
Who knows ?
I am still backing up my hard drive as I type this message in case I need to take it to the store.

Fire fox is not launching at all. It was fine yesterday and today it's not opening at all.

I can't open firefox today. It was working fine last night and when I wanted to go on line today, it wouldn't launch. My Windows Explorer works but not firefox and firefox is my prefered browser. All my bookmarks etc are on this browser and I can't acces anything, no window, nothing.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Firefox was working fine yesterday, but today it simply opens as a blank window. How can I fix this?

When I open Firefox, it appears as a blank, black window with nothing to click on. Everything was working normally last night. Problem only appeared this morning. I tried System Restore, but it failed to complete successfully.

Firefox worked fine yesterday, but today it wont load. I tried unstalling and downloaded a new version. Got message the extended attributes are inconsistant.

ATried to open Firefox browser to read mail but it wouldnt open. An error message indicated something about version 12 and version 11 issues so I uninstalled Firefox and used Explorer to download a fresh copy. Wouldnt install.

I ran the System File Checker and it told me there are corrupt files that could not be repaired. I dont understand all the info that I read on the CBS.log, but from what I gather from the link you provided I'll be doing a reformat today. :(
What puzzles me is the fact that all was well when I shut down my computer but by morning there were corrupt files????? Strange no virus, no malware so what on earth happened? The million dollar question.:)

I have an illustrator file that I was working on yesterday and today I can't open it!

I am working on some advertisements in illustrator and I am having a problem.
For the last week now I have been working on these advertisements and everyday I save it when I'm finishing to go home. I come back the next morning to open the file and keep on working and illustrator crashes as soon I attempt to open it. I have had the same problem when opening indesign and flash documents as well.
The only way I have been able to open these documents is to copy all of the documents in question and paste them onto a USB and make a new user on my computer (24in iMac 3.06GHz 4GB RAM running 10.6.2) and once the new user is created I can paste the items into the new user and then they open just fine BUT! If I work with this user for the rest of the day and come in the next day THIS USER can't open the files anymore. So the process starts all over again.
I don't know if this is relivant but we are currently running trail versions of CS4 because my employer doesn't want to purchase the software until I can prove to him its as useful as I say it is and this is not giving a good impression!

I suppose Wade was referring to some more global system settings being awry. Invalid timestamps would crash pretty much any app. This most often happens with wrong dates set on the server, but has known to also affect local files. Check, whether you are not timetravelling in teh future or way back in the past...

1st gen apple tv.

I have a 1st gen apple tv. I have always and only streamed from my 1T TC. What has heppened is: it follows menus to the selected movie and when i select the movie, the 1st 1 second of video plays and then freezes. The audio continues for i don't know how long because i stop it. I have tried to sync a movie to it (wirelessly) and it tells me i have to open port 336(?)
1. Anyone know how i can fix the streaming? or how to open a port so i can try syncing...
I'd rather stream as i have 100's of movies to stream

Applications>Utilities>Terminal
sudo ipfw add allow ip from 336 to 336
sudo reboot
If this does not work, try connecting the Apple TV to the Time Capsule via ethernet.
WARNING
Before entering sudo reboot, save any open files. You will lose all changes during the reboot.
You will need an admin password. The characters will not show when entering the password.
Also, you could go to Settings>Computers>Your Library.
Then go to Settings>Computers>Add iTunes Library. A code will be displayed. In iTunes, go to iTunes>Prefrences>Apple TV>Remove.
After that, restart iTunes. Your Apple TV should appear under Devices. Select it and enter the code.
If that doesn't work, I don't know what will.

IPod Touch won't charge/turn on even after resetting it and charging it for hours. No water or heat damage. Worked fine yesterday.

My iPod Touch was working fine yesterday and there is no heat or water damage. Then, it died, like it normally does after it's used for a long period of time. So, I went to charge it in a wall outlet (like usual) and the battery symbol with the lightning bolt came up. I figured it would just have to charge for a few hours. So, I let it charge, and when I disconnected it, it said it needed to be plugged in to charge... it was like I hadn't charged it at all. Like I said, there is no water or heat damage. And I haven't dropped it either. I tried to reset it and I tried putting it in rice in case some mysterious water damage happened that I didnt know about. That didnt work. Now it wont be recognized while connected to the computer or the wall outlet. I even tried different outlets and cords and plugs. I don't have a local Apple Store that can repair it. Someone told me it may need a new battery, but I dont have the money to get it sent out to be fixed and get a new battery and I cant afford to take it apart myself and replace the battery and then end up breaking the whole iPod. I need help here! I don't know whats going on or what could have caused it or what I can do to fix it. If anyone has any solutions for me, please answer. Thank you.
