When I set up my Apple TV the screen turns on with the apple logo for about one second and then turns off again. I have no sound issues. If I hit the remote the lady makes all sorts of noises in a sped up voice. Any suggestions?

Apple TV Setup Problems - Buffalo Router keeps crashing / update keeps failing

So I've been having a multitude of problems getting my brand-new Apple TV (3rd generation) set up and working. Let's start with the fact that no matter what I try, I can't seem to upgrade its firmware (which I figure is step 1 to getting everything else working).
In general, it seems that my problems are related to my router. I have a Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 that's a few years old. No firmware updates, I've checked. Doesn't seem to have *any* firewall settings. But whenever I try to connect my Apple TV to this router, the following will occur:
- I will be unable to connect or sign in to the iTunes Store via the Apple TV
- I will be unable to update the Apple TV's system software
- The router will inevitably stop responding to all connected devices, requiring me to manually restart it.
And *here's* a fun development: so having gone through the above multiple times, I try connecting the Apple TV to my (Mac) computer and try a system restore through iTunes (latest version). Not only does the download fail (see screenshot below for error), but the router will stop responding/crash *yet again*, just as if I'd had the Apple TV connected directly to it!
Does anyone know what's going on here, and how I might go about fixing it? Thank you.

Given all the problems you've had I would suggest an erase and reinstall using Disk Utility in the Recovery Volume (command - R or hold down the option key during a restart).

Airport Express & Apple TV Setup Problems

I am having some strange problems with my network. First, I reset my Airport Express and went through the steps of connecting it to stream music, however, the Airport Utility will not recognize it after restarting (I can do a hard reset and it will find the unit, but then hangs up over and over at the same point).
Also, at the same time, my Apple TV is showing in iTunes, can stream music and movies, but is not showing in the Airport Utility and will not sync.
I am not sure what I might have changed...any ideas

I am on 10.5.8. When I do a hard reset the airport Express, the computer finds it, however, after going through the steps to add it to my network to stream iTunes, it restarts and the computer can't find it (light continuously blinks amber).
The AppleTV is showing in my iTunes, but NOT in my list of wireless devices and it won't sync. So it does stream movies and music, just won't sync. When I try and sync it, I get a firewall error, but I have my firewall settings to allow all incoming devices.
Should I just reset everything and try and start over?

My SONY HDTV is currently running through the cable TV box and a Blu-ray player. When I scroll through the input choices there isn't any for the Apple TV or an extra HDMI how do I connect my Apple TV through that?

Unless the user has gone in and manually renamed and input, there certainly would not be one for the ATV.
There is no ATV input.
If there is no available HDMI input on the TV, it's unlikely the ATV can be used without adding an HDMI switcher or an AV receiver. Most cable boxes and DVD/BluRay players do not have HDMI inputs, only outputs.

I am trying to connect new apple tv to my home network and new LG HDTV. I am able to play audio from my ipad (itunes), but am not getting any video signal. Also, I can't get apple tv menu so show up on my tv screen. Can anyone help?

I just bought the update Apple TV and I have been unsuccessful at setting it up to work through my Samsung DLP Progreesive HD widescreen TV Model HLM507W). It does not have an HDMI receptacle (although it does have a DVI receptacle), so I amusing Component cables to connect. When I select the appropriate input component source onscreen for the Apple TV, the TV tells me "Not Supported Mode". I also set the aspect ration to Wide so as to address the 1080i required setting, still leaving me with "Not Supported Mode" admonition. Any suggestions as to what I need to do to successfully set it up? Thanks

OK, what you should do is download the updates on another machine and burn them to a disc. Start at this link http://support.apple.com/downloads/#leopard for downloads and find, among other things, the 10.5.8 combo updater that works on PPC machines, plus security, QuickTime and other updates. Going from 10.5.1 to 10.5.8, there will probably be a bunch of things that you should install. Being off the internet with the machine, you can't have Software Update sort it out, so something might get missed, unfortunately.
My suggestion is this: if it looks like you might need a download, get it onto that disc.

Usually the only reason it will ask you to reboot is if there is a file that must be modified that the updater doesn't currently have access to. You should try running the Firefox program once as Administrator:
* Right-click the icon and choose ''Run as Administrator''
If that doesn't help then do a clean reinstall.
# Download a fresh copy of Firefox from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/fx/ Mozilla download page] and save the file to the desktop.
# [[Uninstalling Firefox|Uninstall]] your current version of Firefox and remove the Firefox program folder before running the new installer.
# Run installer
Remember that you don't want to remove personal data when uninstalling. That way you'll still have your personal information.

i thought with the new Apple ID the problem could be solved. so i create a new Apple ID. now i have 2 I Phones with the same problem means i can't remove my first Apple ID because any time i try to reset my password and delete the Apple ID i don't receive any Email from APPLE .

Has Apple fixed the problem with 4G cellular connection on the iPad 3?

Cellular connection problem was for US connection in Houston, Texas. Have an iPad 2 which functions perfectely on Wi-Fi or 3G. Bought an iPad 3 strictly to get the increased speed from the 4G LTE connection. Purchased on with the AT &T cellular. Wi-Fi functions fine, but 4G LTE connection is terrible when it connects at all. Went to AT&T and they said no problems with service in my area, but never get over 2 bars and most times, Web pages load very slow or will hang and not load at all. Went to the Apple store and they said it was AT&T network problem and went to AT&T and they said no problems with their service. Went to the Apple communities forum here and discovered that many people were having the same problems with the 4G LTE cellular connection on their iPad 3's. Didn't seem to matter if it was AT&T or Verizon. So I decided that I would just return the unit and wait for Apple to fix the problem. Hence my question.

I would instead say you have a problem since nearly all IPs work as advertised. IF you do have a bad phone, take it into an Apple store and get a replacement. Hope you didn't jailbreak your phone though as Apple probably will tell you, you broke it, you fix it.

Simple VISA Setup Problem

Hi all,
I'm having issues working with VISA in LabVIEW. Previously, I've used Peek/Poke VIs (before they were VISA VIs) that allowed me to read and write directly to registers at a given Windows address. I have a new, custom PCI Express board that uses the same architecture that I've worked with previously only this time I'm trying to access the registers using VISA.
As this is my first time using VISA, I'm having some setup problems. Yesterday I got to a state where logically things should work but I still end up getting an error when I try to run a simple VISA Open command (see attached screenshot).
The initial problem I had was I was not able to acquire a VISA resource that opens a session to my PCIe board...it would simply not show up on the resource list. After reading around I discovered I needed to create a custom VISA driver for my board. Once I did that using the VISA Driver Wizard, the device showed up in my list (as seen in the screenshot). I wrote the simplest of all VIs where I simply open that VISA resource, however, the error seen in the screenshot is produced.
I'm pretty sure this is a simple setup issue, but does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
