  • Unable to Burn CDs in iTunes for Windows: (Will not fit, but it should.)

I am attempting to fix an issue with a friend's iTunes for Windows. Although previously this computer using this media was able to burn audio CDs through iTunes, recently, an error has appeared before any burn. When loading the proper amount of time to fit on a CD, iTunes claims:
"The songs in this playlist will not fit on one Audio CD"
"Do you want to create multiple Audio CDs with this playlist split across them?"
"This will require more than one CD to complete."
When running CD Diagnostics, I receive the following information:

Additionally, I copied the iTunes playlist to a new drive that was recently installed with Windows, and the same problem occurs when rebooting under that system.
Also, please note that this issue occured prior to updating to iTunes 7.
Any assistance anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated by both myself and my friend.

  • Can't burn audio CD - songs in this playlist will not fit on one Audio CD.

I have iTunes 6.0.3.5. runing on Windows XP SP2, fully patched.
I'm trying to write an Audio CD from iTunes, I used to be able to do this (before Christmas), but now can't. Even if I create a new playlist with just one track in it and try to write this track (whether an MP3 or M4P downloaded from iTunes store), it comes up with the message:
The songs in this playlist will not fit on one Audio CD. Do you want to create multiple Audio CDs with this playlist split across them? This will require more than one blank CD to complete.
Even if I select Audio CDs, it doesn't write them, it just comes up with the same message again.
I've tried this on my laptop too, same result, I completely re-installed my laptop (XP, everything) too....
I've tried it on my daughters PC and it * does * work ok (same version of iTunes)...
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

If I use a different brand of CD-R it now works (found this suggestion in the answer to another similar question).
I was using Memorex which didn't work on my PC or Laptop, but works ok on my daughter's PC.

  • How to solve Audition CS6 error "The amount of audio to burn will not fit on the CD........."?

I have a brand new PC that is MORE than adequate. I have once succeeded in burning a CD after learning all about time tracks and merging them. (made a few with only ONE track)
    Two things:
    1) I find that I must add a CD marker at the end of the WAV because Audition CS6 erases whatever is the last CD marker I've made. Very frustrating but now I know I have to do this but I have no idea WHY!!
    2) Right now I have a WAV that is just over 1 hour and 3 minutes with a total of 637.74MB of info. When I try to export/burn a CD, I get an error message stating "The amount of audio to burn will not fit.......".  I am using TDK 700MB blanks with a Pioneer Blu-ray burner.
    Obviously it will fit.
What am I doing wrong, all of a sudden?

    Hey ryclark,
Thanks for responding. Something else is going on here.....
    Here's what I re-replied to our friend...
    Thanks for the response.
When I built this computer last Nov/Dec, it was built with the second
fastest Intel 7i, quad-core chipset on an 64-bit ASUS motherboard. It's  running
Win 7 Pro. It has a 500GB SSD "C" drive with another 14 TB of true hard
drive space. It is set up with 64 bit. I had been using Audition CS3 for  many
years and even go back to it's origin: Cool Edit and Cool Edit Pro. My
learning curve was minimal, sans the CD burning, which I used other software
for  which is now antiquated, so I need Audition for this. Between this and
IZotope 3 I've repaired and improved many a recording. All-in-all extremely
    useful software.
As for the idea "to burn it anyway", well the error message comes up and
that's it - if I "X" out of that message and try to burn again the message
comes  back  - so Audition will not let me. It is convinced that this file is
longer than it really is, but only when I add track  marks to it!
    There are only 11 tracks.
I was able to burn a CD of this same file but without all the track marks,
so the same exact file length/size will burn, only as the one track.
I've also succeeded in burning other WAV's , both greater and smaller, with
and without multiple track marks, without issue. Of course all with less
    than the CD's max. capacity.
This problem seems to be with this one file. I've even  re-made/re-recorded
the file from scratch with no change. There's something else  going on here
that I can't put my finger on. (I am "recording" LP's and making  personal
    CDs of them)
Also, only from time to time, I have another error after burning a CD that
states it could not verify the CD. For this I assume it is the blank rather
than AA? The first might burn without issue and with the second burn I
get the error. It is near the end of a stack of blanks, so.....
As for the need to "mark the end" of the file makes a lot of sense but of
all the other CD track-marking software I've used, none needed one to do
this,  but this IS Adobe after all.
You'd think there might be a smidge of intuitiveness with Adobe, but maybe
    not.

  • "The songs in this playlist will not fit on one Audio CD..."

I get this error message when trying to burn to a CD-R:
"The songs in this playlist will not fit on one Audio CD.
Do you want to create multiple Audio CDs with this playlist split across them?"
I'm trying to burn 17 songs. At the bottom of the playlist it tells me that those 17 songs take up 1 hour, 66.5 MB. If I have a 80 minute (1 hour, 20 minute) blank CD-R it should burn with no problems...shouldn't it? I've burned CD-Rs with iTunes on this computer before. I'm using iTunes 7.0.1.8.

  • 53.1 min, 51.5 MB playlist will not fit on one audio CD?

I'm trying to backup an album I bought from iTunes, but I keep getting the error that reads, "The songs on this playlist will not fit on one audio CD." The playlist is 53.1 minutes long and 51.5 MB in compressed size. The files are 128 kbps AAC. I've also tried a different playlist of 45.8 minutes and 43.7 MB and get the same error. I was originally using iTunes 7.3. I deleted that and switched to 7.2. I still get the same error. The dialog box gives me the option to put the playlist on multiple CD's, but that seems terribly wasteful to me. Besides, I suspect this is a bug or something. These albums ought to fit on a single CD. Has anyone else encountered this problem before and is there any way to fix it?

  • The songs on this playlist will not fit on one audio CD"

How do I resolve the message "The songs on this playlist will not fit on one audio CD"  I have tried everything, and this has just happened 2 days after my warranty expired.  Any help much appreciated as I am not tech minded
    Thanks

Firstly apologies for not providing more information.  I am indeed trying to copy a playlist which I made and successfuly copied to a blank audio CD last week.  Today I spent over one hour online looking for help and nothing that was suggested helped.  I even tried copying an 18 min playlist (a meditation CD I use) and the same message came up ... a prompt asking me if it were ok to copy onto more than one CD - and even when I agreed to that, jsut to see what happened, the process stopped there (i.e. no copying was attempted by iTunes).  I'd appreciate some insight.  Thanks

  • Songs in Playlist will not fit on CD

Every time I try to burn a cd I get the message:
"The songs in this playlist will not fit on one Audio Cd. Do you want to create multiple Audio CD's with this playlist spilt across them? This will require more than one blank cd to complete." Then I have the option of clicking Audio CDs or cancel. Nothing happens when I click Audio CDs.
This happened out of the blue and have not changed any settings. I have tried burning several playlists even one with just one song and still get the same message. So clearly these playlist do not really need more than one cd. I am using the same exact cds that I have successfully been burning with that are CD-R. I just updated to latest version of iTunes as well.

  • No playlist too small for "this playlist will not fit on one audio CD"

    What on earth is goin' on w/ iTunes ?! ( In my case it's 7.6.2 (9) )
After having a 91.MB playlist receive the “*The songs in this playlist will not fit on one audio CD"* for a 700 MB audio-CD burn, I searched around here and found this thread . . . granted it's for Windows, but other mentions dating back to Jan. seem to indicate the problems pretty universal.
Anyone know anything more on this ?

  • "the songs in this playlist will not fit" - only 63 minutes in playlist????

I'm trying to burn a 63 minute playlist onto an 80 minute CD.
I do this many, many times a week.
However, with this playlist [16 tunes ripped off CD and one purchased track from iTunes - never burnt to CD before] I get the "the songs in this playlist will not fit" error message.
If I remove a song from the playlist, I get the same error message.
iTunes is burning other / longer playlists just fine.
    Any tips, please?
    Thank you for your time!

Yes it will have a larger amount of data but it is
    also a larger file.
Figure that 1 minute of 128bit rate is equal to about
1 meg - 1 minute at the 1411 (audio) bit rate is
    about 10 meg.
So - 70 meg of mp3 is about 700 meg of audio (AIFF)
    format.
    MJ
Well, that would only be true if you were burning a DATA or an MP3 disk. All audio files are converted to CDA format (not AIFF) before burning to 16bit PCM @ 44.1KHZ sampling rate. This is an absolute, or they will not play in an audio CD player.
By the way, the reason that some people get a bit confused by the "700mb data or 80minutes of Audio" has a lot to do with how the disks are written:
Audio sectors use 2352 bytes per sector, while standard CD-ROM data uses 2048 (the rest is for error correction). You can put roughly 747MB of audio onto a disc that only holds 650MB of data (74 Min disk), or 804Mb on a 700Mb disk, hence the 80minutes @ 10meg per minute. The number of tracks (and hence track gaps @ 2sec each) will have a minor effect on total music playing time.
There IS, however, something seriously askew with iTunes and the interface to burning any kind of disk. I have seen the same problem a few times and most of the time, renaming the playlist (for whatever reason) has solved the problem. It has been well documented on this board that itunes cannot record at high speeds any longer, and my 100% success rate speed is a mere 2x on both CD's and DVD's.
I have also seen the capacity issue show up OUTSIDE of iTunes using FlashDrives. While the OS doesn't have a problem reading data from the drives, nor does it have difficulty in acertaining the capacity of the drives, it will not write anywhere close to the capacity of the drive. Currrently affecting all 3 systems here.

Install or Reinstall OS X from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Project will not fit

    Hi all
I hope someone has a solution to this one. I made a movie in FCE that was over 2 hours and found out the hard way that I would need to cut it down or burn to dual layer. Well I cut, and cut, and cut and now it is 1:43 and still the program tells me that it will not fit on a single layer disc.
    Any ideas?
    Jon

One way around the two hour (or slightly less) time limit in iDVD is to go to the "Project" menu item, click on "Project info" and change "Media type" to "8.0GB (Double layer)". Burn to a disk image and mount the .IMG file on the desktop. The resulting VIDEO_TS file will be greater than 4.3GB and too large to fit on a single layer blank DVD. The file can be compressed to fit a single layer blank DVD by using DVD2ONEX or DVDRemaster. Both programs are shareware at very nominal cost and available for evaluation on VersionTracker.com Both do a good job of preserving visual quality while compressing the size (not the length) of the VIDEO_TS file. This is a very useful workaround for those occasions when a project is too long. The "Media type" option in "Project info" only appears when you have a Superdive that can burn dual layer discs. I have an external Pioneer K05 (dual layer capable and Apple shipped/supported in Profiler) attached to my early G5 iMac. The "Media type" option disappears if I disconnect the K05. Why not just burn to a DL disc? Two reasons: the discs don't work well in some DVD players and DL discs are $2 to $3 apiece mail order.
