I connected my apple tv in my hotel room. I connected it to the hotels wifi but its only giving me options for "Computer" and "setttings". None of my Apple TV apps are coming up. Help!

Welcome to the Apple community.
That indicates it isn't connected to the internet, how did you connect to wifi.
Hotel networks can be a problem since they can block communication for the Apple TV and sometimes they need to be logged into using a web browser, which the Apple TV doesn't have.

The Settings > General > Software Update option only appears when you have iOS 5+ installed, as your tagline says that you have iOS 4 then you will need to do the update via your computer's iTunes.
Connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases (File > Devices > Transfer Purchases on iTunes 11). You may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. Reading through the threads my take is
There seems to be something awry with wifi chipset. Typical symptoms are initially being able to connect to connect to a Wifi network then the connection is dropped. Then you see just the 'computers' and 'settings' icons on screen
Power off, reset and factory restore doesnt seem to solve it
Occasionally its nearby antenna cables etc causing interference
One report with convincing evidence it was the HDMI cable, swapping to anotehr cable fixed the problem
Plugging in ethernet works, this is purely a wifi issue
Sometimes plugging in ethernet temporararily wakes up the wifi

Delete some apps, files, photos, videos, movies, etc to free up some space.
How much space is your Other using? You may be able to reduce.

HT1551 can't get past computers and settings screen - help!!

Moved my Apple TV box to another house we have (worked perfect at old place) - at new place cant get past the "computers" and "settings" screen - also wont accept my apple ID creds which I know are valid - tried a total reset but didnt help - please any ideas are welcome!!

How do I migrate bookmarks from Camino to Firefox? My only options are Safari and Chrome.

I've followed the on-site directions for this migration ("migrate from another browser") but my only options via that route are Safari and Chrome.

Export bookmarks from camino using the instructions at http://caminobrowser.org/documentation/bookmarks/#export .
Then import the html file into firefox using the instructions in the [[Import Bookmarks from a HTML file]] article.
Does that fix the problem?

Built in photo sharing function, no options to share on my facebook albums. The only options are 'Wall' and 'OS X Photo'

How do I burn at 4X? (Only options are 24X and 8X.)

I'm trying to burn a CD to use as a Linux install disc on a friend's machine. The CD Drive I'll be using on that machine is 4X.
Trying to burn the iso in question, and Disk Utility only gives me the option of burning at 24X and 8X.

If I'm understanding what you're saying... it seems like you want to burn a disk at 4x because you're going to be using it on a machine that only has a 4x drive. If this is correct, the two are not related. The speed at which you burn a disk does not have anything to do with the speed at which a drive can read a disk. Think of it this way... Say it takes someone a minute to type out a page (1x)... but you're a really fast typer and you can type two pages in a minute (2x). It will take the other guy twice as long as it did for you to type two pages because he types at half the speed. But.. when you're both done... regardless of how long it took to type the two pages, when you give those two pages to someone to read, it will take that person exactly the same amount of time to read the two pages you typed as well as the two pages the other person typed.
Basically the speed a drive writes is just that... it's how fast it can write the data to the disk. Even if you write data at 52x... it can still be read by a 1x drive from ten years ago... only much more slowly.

My Apple TV menu keeps flickering between the standard menu and one that only has "Internet, Computers, and Settings" What is going on?

I will be watching a movie or tv show and it will just quit working, reverting back to a three selection menu. Then it will go to the standard menu and back, doing this a few times. I cant seem to get it to stop and it didnt happen when i first got the ATV.

I had this issue with both our Apple TVs and it turned out to be a bad router.
The router was generating enough radio interference on the Wi-Fi channels the Apple TVs used that they could not hold the signal, and were constantly associating/disassociating with the bad router.
I figured this out by monitoring the status logs on the Time Machine - Advanced tab, and seeing an associate/disassociate message every five seconds or so.
Removing the bad router fixed the problem.

sine the apple2 tv software was updated last week I can only see options for computers and settings
whilst my internet connection is clearly working, I cannot access youtube or internet radio as there is no internet option
any ideas how to fix this pls?

My ATV3 has worked beautifully for the last week. We woke up this morning to find this problem. Nothing weird happened over night - my entire network has been up all night with no resets or anything strange.
The ATV3 accessing all of my Home Sharing content, so I know the network is fine (wired). Tried resetting and cycling power. Tried changing locations/setting language. Nothing. I even tried resetting my DSL Router, but to no avail.
I've got nothing fancy going on with my location, short of being in Canada.
Update: Oh, and I have a 2nd ATV3 downstairs, also on a wired connection. Just found out that it, too, is exhibiting the same error. Although, I'd left it in 'iTunes Match' last night and the first thing I saw when I started it up was "Error: iTunes is Unavailable. Please try again later". Plugged my old Popcorn Hour in and it, at least, is working fine.

Alright, I found the issue. This is how I have resolved my issue. I hope it will help you.
1. This issue could happen, if your apple TV doesnt have internet, connectivity to iTunes servers, or you haven't logged in to iTunes account in your apple TV
2. Test the network on apple tv - General - settings - network - test network, Try to aviod using wifi use LAN cable, since we are trying to fix the issue.
3. Set your exact location manually - Which city you are in from settings-General - Time Zone- choose your City currently you are in.
4. Login to iTunes account - settings- iTunes Store- set your default store - for example I am in Mongolia but using my New Zealand account on Apple TV, in our case my Apple TV iTunes account location is New Zeland.
5. If you are facing any issues to login to your iTunes account, That explains you have an issue with connectivity back to iTune servers, or sometimes it could be apple iTune servers may have problems. To verify which is one is the problem login to your itunes on your laptop or desktop for testing purposes, make sure you are using the same internet connection as your home apple TV is using.
6. if you are able to login you should able to see all the available channels and full list on Apple TV.

My apple tv recently started showing only Internet, Computers, and Settings as options. Does anyone know where the Television and Movies went. Anyone else experiencing this issue? I want my MLB and Netflix!

I had the loss of Internet after updating to 5.0.
Only Computers and Settings are available.
I tried through Ethernet cable, manual settings of the IP addresses etc. but no result. still only Computers and settings.
It communicates with internet for Home sharing etc. Checking the network through ATV is happening. Only problem is "internet " option is not visible.
I have not changed any settongs in the wifi router during this process. The same ATV was working with all 3 options before update. will the update do any changes to WIFI Router in blocking DNS etc?
Any advice will be ok.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Check you have an internet connection and that you are using the correct iTunes store location setting.
Try restarting the router.
If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Source list, and then click Restore.

sounds like the appletv does not have a working connection to the network
if you use wifi go in to the settings and choose your ssid and type in your password

This always implies the AppleTV is not seeing the internet when it starts up, as it seems to acquire available category content from there.
Restart your router and unplug and restart your AppleTV - does that help?
