HT1551 Trying to connect to tv for first time. TV does not recognize device, saying nothing is connected, when it is. Help!
I am trying to connect Apple TV for the first time. I went to my HDMI settings on my t.v., and tried to update so it would recognize the Apple TV. Everything is plugged in correctly, but the t.v. is saying that no HDMI devices were found. Help?
not sure about how different tv handle it but i go into the input source settings on my tv
and choose which input source is the active one
if i did that for the hdmi port my appletv was connected to and it said no signal then I would suspect that the tv could not handle the resolution the appletv display in and I would test with another tv if the same problem was present there then I woudl suspect that the appletv was defect

Hi. During the process of updating my ipad to IOS 6 utilizing iTunes, I received the error #1602. I tried the update procedure again, this time itunes does not recognize the devise. The pad is displaying USB connecter to iTunes. Can anyone recomend a fix?
Thank youThere is only one fix now. The message on the screen means that you have to restore the iOS software on the iPad now. Read the part at the very end about using recovery mode.

If your device is continually restarting, not responding, or showing the Apple logo with no progress bar or a stopped progress bar, place the device into recovery mode and try restoring again. -
We just added a new printer and bluetooth connection to our iMac. Now iTunes does not recognize our iPads as devices. Have already tried restarting everything. Any other suggestions?

Try the standard fixes to rule out a software problem:
- Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.
If you still have the problem that points to a hardware problem. Yu can make an appointment at the the Genius Bar of an Apple store or try:

I get "mail server does not recognize your Apple ID and password" when I try to share a picture via email in iPhoto. My iCloud email works ok otherwise. I have checked all mail settings for ID and password.
In the iPhoto preferences ==> accounts delete the account and re-enter it - sometimes that resolves this
Or IMHO the best long term solution is to set Apple Mail as the iPhoto e-mail client in the iPhoto preferences and use it - it has a number of advatages and has fewer problems

I have been trying to update my IPod touch 4g to IOS 5, but I tunes does not recognize it and says it is up to date. When I Updated my other touch yesterday every thing worked great. but this one does not seem to want to go beyond 4.2.1(8C148)
Ok make sure you have iTunes 11. Then connect iPod touch to computer then iTunes should pop up automatically. After it opens on the bottom left there should be a tab where it says your name and then iPod. For example (Johns iPod) click on that then it brings all your information of the iPod including restore and updating.

Are you formatting it correctly? - username @ someDomain .com <- NO Spaces (I did it so the system wouldn't make an email link out of it)

Trying to run Vertex vprtmupd for first time
I am trying to run the Vertex vprtmupd for the first time on a fresh install on Linux. I am on 11.5.10.2 and have run the "Quantum Program Update Installer" with no problem ran great!
I tried to run "Quantum Data Update Installer" and it failed with this error:

I then tried to run it manuly by running "vprtmupd" and this is what happened:

Cannot connect to iTunes for first time. Help?
I'm an original iPhone user. I bought a 3G for my girlfriend and tried to hook it up to iTunes for the first time on her HP Pavilion dv2000 laptop (Windows Vista Home Premium, Service Pack 1). When I connect the phone, it says "This iPhone cannot be used because the required software is not installed." Then it asks me to uninstall and reinstall iTunes. Fine, no problem. I've done it a million times, I've uninstalled Quicktime, I've tried so many things. I've Googled for hours and have seen similar problems. The only difference between her problem and the rest is that the Apple Mobile Device does not show up in the task manager and does not seem to be installed. Every solution I've come across says to restart the AMD, or to uninstall the AMD (along with iTunes) and reinstall it. However, it doesn't even exist on her computer at all. For some reason, it won't install when I install iTunes. I'm exhausted from looking for an answer. Can anyone help? Thank you mucho!
Try task manager, Services tab (may need admin account to do this).
Scan down the list looking for Apple Mobile Device driver. See if it is there, and disabled, or set to start manually, and if so Right click it and select Start the service.
If its not in the list, then go to Control panel, Programs and see if it is in that list. If so un-install it (as well as bonjour, Mobile Me, iTunes) and reboot. <--dont forget.
Then do a FRESH download of iTunes to make sure you have the proper version. (64bit vs 32bit - your processor is 64bit, but that doesn't mean that your vista is. Download the one that matches your Vista platform).
Shut down your virus scanner.
Then install itunes again.
Then go back to Task manager, and see if Apple Mobile Device driver is installed and set to start automatically. Unless you have other devices in the house shut down bonjour (it serves no real purpose other than opening useless ports on your machine), (just right click bonjour an set to start manually or disable it).
Then make sure you are plugged directly into a usb port, not a hub. -
