  • Setup home sharing-go to iTunes, choose advance?

Setting up apple tv- to setup home sharing
    Open iTunes
Choose advanced---- where is this option?

On a Mac it'd be on the Menu Bar when itunes is highlighted.
I've a funny feeling that previously Home Sharing could be enabled in the Shared category on the left side of iTunes main window.

  • How do I setup home sharing on my new ipad

How do I setup home sharing on my Ipad ? I just installed an Apple TV and want to display content. Thanks

Once sharing is set up for both devices, go into the Music or Video App, and look for the Air Play icon .
Tap it to get a list of devices you can send content to, one should be your Apple Tv.
Tap it to select it and start plaing anything you want. It should show up on the Tv.

If you want to stream content from your computer, then setup Homesharing there, and then use the "Computers" Tab on the Aple Tv menu screen to access the shared library.

  • HT202213 can you setup home sharing from your iPad ?

can you setup home sharing from your iPad ?

You can set Home sharing on the iPad by adding your Apple ID in the appropriate area.
    Settings->Music->Home Sharing
But you still need a computer with iTunes from which to share the library.  You can't share libraries between iDevices.

I had the same error it was due to a program called Little Snitch, it's somewhat like a firewall.  I changed the settings in Little Snitch to allow network connections in iTunes and now I can enable Home Sharing.  Maybe you should try changing some firewall settings.

  • How to properly setup Home Sharing with iPhone and iPad

Hi, In our home we have both an iPhone and an iPad, but with different user ID's for iTunes etc.
I just now seen that there is the Home Sharing feature, but looking up info on it I'm a bit scared that people are saying if you log in to another device with the same ID you get locked out of the original.
How could I properly setup Home Sharing on both devices, while being 100% positive that I keep my original device ID's in place?

    Hi there,
I would recommend taking a look at the article below for more information about home sharing.

    Hi,
In iChat > Preferences > Accounts  go to the Server Setting tab for the account in question
Change the Port from 5190 to 443  (you can only do this whilst Logged out)
Now go to the Account Info tab and tick the Use this Account box to Log in
If you still can't log in then return to the Server Settings and deselect SSL and try logging in again.

I have no idea what is happening. My wifes library shows up on my account as does mine on hers and songs will play but we cant drag them into the library. When I o to turn on home sharing on my account it hits me with error code -9808.

    "Error -9808"
This alert is often caused by a perceived security issue due to higher than expected security settings.
Check your computer's date, time, and time zone. If they are not correct, correct them.
If the issue persists, or the changes made to Internet Options revert after restarting your PC, then the issue is likely caused by out of date or incorrectly configured security software.  Follow the steps in iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues to resolve the issue.

  • HT4527 error 5506 when try to setup home sharing having typed in ID nd password

can anyone advise? keep getting this error. Also, cant move audiobooks into book section so appear in songs - tried everything to move them (ditto with podcasts)

Verify that your password is correct by logging in @ appleid.apple.com. If it doesnt work the issue is password related. If it works power cycle the apple tv and the router (powered down for at 30 seconds). If you still have the problem after that the issue could be port related. HT2463 lists all the ports that are required. If you don't know how to open ports on the router call the router manufacturer.
Home Sharing Troubleshooting article should cover all the basics as well.

  • How can I setup Home Sharing with a Sonicwall TZ 100?

I have configured Home Sharing on 2 laptops and 1 desktop in my home network.  The two laptops (WiFi) see each other's respective libraries.  Neither can see the home desktop's library.  They are all on the same subnet.  I have created firewall rules on all devices to allow tcp 3689 and udp 5353 traffic.  I even went as far as disabling the firewalls on the computers (all three) completely.  I have enabled Multicasting on the Wifi interface of the Sonicwall.  The Sonicwall is setup in basic wan/lan mode with ALL LAN interfaces in the same port group to ensure they co-exist on the same subnet.  I am running Itunes 10.6.
I still can't see the desktop computer's library and it can't see the two laptops.
    What am I missing?
    Thanks in advance,
    Shrpshtr

First, make sure you've got the home share set up on both computers, as per the following document:
iTunes: Setting up Home Sharing on your computer
Have both computers running and have iTunes open on both computers.
Now, in the iTunes on the computer you want to transfer music to, select the library that you want to transfer music from, as per the following screenshot:
Once the other library loads, go down to the bottom of the screen and in "Show:" select "Items not in my library":
If you want to import all of the songs you can now see, head up to the iTunes menu bar and go "Edit > Select all". Then head down to the bottom of the screen again and click the "Import" button in the bottom-right-hand corner.

  • HT3819 I do not see a settings button in the lower left corner of my itunes library when I attempt to share on home sharing.

My husband and I are trying to use home sharing to utilize the ability to share music files between our devices. We are able to see our shared libraries, but unable to access music on them. The help directions say to go to the settings button on the lower right and to the show button in the bottom of the window. We do not see either of these. We have both updated itunes, so we should have the most current settings. Where are these mystical buttons? I went to the view menu and did not see that option either. Below is what we see-no settings icon at all.

Have you signed into the iStore while in iTunes on both computers using the same Apple ID?
Have you authorized both computers using the same Apple ID while in iTunes?
Do you have iCloud turned on where you are synching music into your iTunes library on the computer you are trying to drag into?
