HT1567 I have new computer and my ipod won't sync with my itunes library on it.

Trying to sync my ipod with my itunes account on my new computer with no response. When I plug my ipod into my computer it doesn't sync.

How is your iPod configured to sync with your iTunes library?  What options do you have enabled/configured from under the iPod's Summary and Music tabs?  Perhaps this article can offer more assistance.

I got a new computer and my IPOD will not sync with the new computer.....I have a ITUNES account on the new computer and is downloading music just fine but it will not sync to the IPOD....What should I do to sync my IPOD?  thanks

Copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer.
Attempts to sync an iDevice to a new computer will remove all content from the device and replace it with content from the new, empty library.

You can only really sync with one iTunes library/computer. See:

  • I have a different iPhone, and now it won't sync with my iTunes.

I have a different iPhone, and now it won't sync with my iTunes.

I had an iPhone 3GS, but my husband had a newer one, so he gave me his when he upgraded to the iPhone4. When we uploaded everything, it took it all except my music. Now when I try to download my music from iTunes, it will not sync with it.
    No error messages
It pops up the box where it asks if you want to view folders, download your pics, etc. There is nothing in the box about music (iTunes).
I have rebooted my phone and computer. Downloaded the lastest version of iTunes, Deauthorized and reauthorized the phone. Not sure what to do now.

  • I just got a new computer and my iPOD will not sync to it because of the old computer. How can I get my library to sync on the new computer????

I originally synced my iPOD to my PC in April 2011.  I purchased a new computer but my iPOD will not sync to it because it is synced to the old PC.  I do not want to erase my iPOD to sync with the new PC because I have loaded alot of music from CD's to it.  HELP!

See this article how to transfer your data? How to back up your data and set up as a new device
Make sure your new computer is authorized in iTunes. Disable autosync in itunes, connect your ipod, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.
This will save data, pictures and settings to itunes. See what's included in this backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your ipod got wiped during the first sync.
The rest of the data can be restored from the backup you made.

As mentioned by vazandrew, music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

  • New computer, missing content/content won't sync with iPod

I got a new laptop and I allowed the sync between the computer and my iPod touch. However, not all my content is on iTunes anymore and neither will iTunes and iPod sync correctly. I'm afraid to erase and sync because I've already lost a lot of content off iTunes. What do I do? Plus, I just bought music off of iTunes with my iPod sync'd to my computer and it still won't sync the new music to my iPod. ???

I'm glad that just moving the music library worked for you.  When I moved my library, it didn't work automatically as you indicated.  When I synced may nano to the new computer with the recently moved itunes library, a message came up asking if I wanted to erase everything on my nano and sync with this new computer.  I checked yes and it synced without any problem.  However, for some reason the same message didn't come up when I tried to do the same with my iphone.  I only synced after I found the sync tab and checked the box that said it was ok to erase the phone's music in order to sync it to the new computer.  I think I know why the message came up automatically with my nano but not the iphone.  I initially connected my phone to itunes on the new laptop before I had the music library moved over.  When the message asked if I wanted to erase the phone and sync with the itunes, which was blank, I said no.  I think that is why I had to manually check the "yes" box to sync my phone with the laptop after the music files were moved.
All that matters is that it is working now and I didn' have to make an appt with a "genius" at an apple store for them to show me how to check the box.

  • HT1351 I have a windows 8 computer and my iPhone won't sync with iTunes.

  • What do I do if my iPod won't sync with my iTunes?

My iPod has been working perfectly fine for about a year and a half now, but when I connect it to my computer it won't sync with the iTunes program. It shows that it is connected to my computer because it's charging, but not to iTunes. I'm not sure what to do, any ideas?

Find a more powerful USB port or buy a wall-mount charger from Apple.

  • I have a new computer and my ipod is already synced to another computer ad when i try to sync my ipod to my new computer, it asked me to erase and sync my ipod what do i do with my pictures?

i bought my new computer and i downloaded some new music on my computer and i had an ipod that was already synced to another computer. i just want to know how to get my pictures back when i erase and sync my ipod.

    - Transfer iTunes purchases to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...: Apple Support Communities
    - Connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup. The iPod will then include photos taken by or saved to the iPod.
    - You can also transfer them to the comouter by:
Copying personal photos and videos from iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your computer
    - If you synced photos synced fro the first computer yu will need a program like TouchCopoy or PhoneView to get then from the iPod to the computer.  You have to do that before the restore discussed above.

  • 5th Generation iPod won't sync with iMac iTunes 9

PLEASE help.  5th generation 8GB iPod will not sync with iTunes 9 on my iMac OSx 10.4.11.  Hubby rebooted system and now I have zero songs on my iPod. I have restored iPod to factory settings and still zero songs.  Itunes says sync complete everything looks good but iPod still says zero songs.  Tried using new user account on iMac and going into iPod disk mode...no success.  Also tried restoring playlist from PC running windows 7 still nothing.   Please help...must have my tunes back asap...THANK YOU anyone who can help.

Have you had a chance to look at this troubleshooting page? If not, have a look at the bottom section that covers what to try if the message keeps reappearing: iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode - Use iTunes to restore
Towards the end it says "If after restoring your iPod, the message described above reappears, the iPod drive letter may need to be reassigned. See the "Change the Drive Letter" section of this document for steps to assign a different drive letter" which contains a link to this article: Windows confuses iPod with network drive and iTunes may exhibit strange behavior in relation to the iPod.

  • When i connect my shuffle with my computer, it says it is already synced with another itunes library.  It isn't, so what do i do?

When I connect my shuffle (2nd gen.) to my computer, it says that my ipod is synced with another itunes librar. And that an ipod can be synced with only one itunes library at a time.  My shuffle is only synced with the library on this computer.  What should I do?  I can't play my ipod on the computer, or sync it, charge it....

If you moved your iTunes library by simply copying it to another drive, you may not be able to access your music even if you reconnect to that library, you may get a lot of "not found" errors because the music is not where the library thinks it should be. First thing to do is put it back where it was.  Then reconnect it. Then follow the steps in this link:
