HT1595 my remote controls the volumes on my laptop

How do I stop my apple tv remote from controlling the volume on my laptop. I want to use the apple tv remote only for apple tv and nothing else

Welcome to the Apple Community.
If you don't want to use a remote with your computer the easiest thing to do is just to turn the IR off. (System Preferences > Security > General, click on the Advanced button in the bottom right corner - If the button is greyed out, click on the lock icon and enter your administrators password))
If you still want to use your computer remote then you must pair your computers remote with the computer AND the Apple TV remote with the Apple TV.
To pair a remote with a device hold down the menu and FF buttons together for six seconds or until you see a chain icon on screen (best take the computer into another room, or turn it off, when you do this)

  • My remote controls the TV and my laptop

When I have my laptop in the room while I'm using Apple TV, the remote control controls both the computer and the TV. Front Row pops up in full screen mode. How can I make disable the remote on the laptop or better yet, sync the remote with the TV.

Had the same problem with one of my laptops and the TV... I ended up going into the Applications section, the utilities, system preferences, and the library sections of the computer and deleting EVERYTHING that said Front Row.
I know it's a bit of an extreme but it did seem to do the trick. Unfortunately I noticed the IR port in the front of the computer after I had done all that. Suppose it would have been easier to just put some tape or white out over it instead. Oh well....

How can I control the volume in a Apple Tv movie from my remote control App. In my IPad ?.

There is not now, nor has there ever been a version of flash for any iOS device.
Adobe has abandoned mobile flash, so there never will be.
Browsers like iswifter or photon may work for you, but don't hold your breath.
Check app store for an app of whatever game you want.

  • HT204492 my apple remote wont control the volume?? any ideas??

my apple remote wont control the volume in my itunes, any ideas??

Not via the Mac. I just hooked up a TV to mine via HDMI and it shows the It comes up with the volume logo on the screen with a line through it, when I select audio output via HDMI. If you select another audio output like internal speaker yo can change volume.

  • How can Remote control my volume??

I see in the pic on the itunes page showing the ability to control the volume on apple TV. how do I get this functionality? I can not find it anywhere!
    Thanks, Mark

Well there is another way to control the volume of your reciever using the apple remote app with your second gen apple tv...you can turn on remote speakers setting in itunes, then make sure you select the apple tv as one of your speakers(this should appear as an airplay icon on the bottom right of itunes screan, just click and select apple tv as a speaker), you might have to enable this on apple tv device as well, then in the apple remote software select the itunes library for control instead of apple tv, now you can play your music thru the app and control volume. The kick is that you wont get all the functionality control(see your playlists on the screen, album art etc...you still get a small notification on your tv of what is playing) that you get when selecting apple tv as the library to control. Also if you dont want it to play out of your computure speakers as the same time then you need to only select apple tv as the speaker to control

  • Remote control's volume doesn't work with external soundcard

I use an external EDIROL FA-101 firewire soundcard connected to my macbook. Ofcourse I listen to music and watch movies with my computer just like we all do. But the problem is, that I can't control volume using apple remote. It only works for the integrated soundcard. It probably isn't hard for it to control volume of the iTunes, instead of the main volume (which doesn't control my external soundcard's volume). It just isn't comfortable at all (and I'm not going to use the integrated soundcard, because of what it sounds like).

I'm not sure there's anything we can do for you here. You may be able to do something with an additional remote, like a bluetooth phone and Salling Clicker, to execute AppleScripts to control the volume control on your card.

  • Remotely control the ITunes on Windows 7 64 bit PC with the new IPad

With the latest version of ITunes for both Win7 and the new IPad, I'm only able to use the new IPad to remotely control the ITunes on Windows 7 64 bit PC through wired connection  ( ethernet cable ) to the wireless router. As soon as I connect my PC through wireless connection, the new IPad can not find my libraries.
Is this a known issue or am I missing some settings?
    Thanks,

Are you using the 64 bit installer?

  • Is there an app to control the volume of an iPhone 3GS?

I have an iPhone 3GS and the volume keeps going all the way down once I plug the headphones in. Before this started happening the volume would go all the way up. Before that even started happening the phone would repeatedly try to shut itself off and I had to keep pressing Cancel.
I did buy the phone off of eBay used, to try and go on a prepaid contract once my current contract ends. On the case itself, there are some minor scuffs and such, it does look like it was opened at a time. It still works perfectly, except for the volume glitch right now. Is there an app that controls the volume to keep it from going all the way down?. People say in forums and such to tighten the screws on the bottom (which I tried), and to also open the phone and see if there is anything blocking the volume control thing (like dust or anything) but I'm afraid to try that with the risk of causing further damage. What should I try?.

to at least try and fix it if none of that works then replace it through apple

  • Is there any way to control the volume on my Apple TV?

Here's the scenario: I have a small amplifier under my couch that controls the speakers connected to my Apple TV. When I use Airplay from my iPhone to listen to music, I'm able to control the volume right from the music App on my phone- this is perfect because I don't like to reach under the couch to change the volume. However, there are two scenarios when I cannot seem to adjust the volume anywhere except on the amp. These are:
First: Using Airplay while playing a video from my MacBook Pro to the Apple TV. In this case, the volume slider in iTunes suddenly has a little lock icon on it and is unadjustable. Is there any way to unlock the volume?
Second: When using the Apple TV directly to play any media- music or movies. The volume up and down buttons on the Apple TV don't control the volume. I'm forced to reach under the couch to adjust the volume- which happens quite frequently. Is there any way to control the output volume of the Apple TV?
The lack of volume control has been super disappointing. I've been a (multiple) airport express user for years so kind of expected Airplay to work the same for video- with the ability to control the volume from whatever device was transmitting. Can anyone help me?

Andrew- this is how I would expect things to work. However, when I use airplay from my iPhone to say, play a youtube video, the volume on the phone is suddenly rendered useless and I'm forced to adjust the amplifier. When I just play audio from the phone, the volume works.
It's the same on my macbook pro. If I mirror the screen, my computer's volume affects the speakers volume. However, if I am in itunes and play a movie and use airplay for that, I get a lock on the volume. Is this a setting somewhere?

  • Cant control the volume??!!

i just updated to 3.0, and now there is noway to control the volume? i have a 1st gen ipod touch which has no volume buttons, when i press the home button twice to open the music window, it says "dock connector"
tell if I'm missing something, i haven't explored the OS yet.

I also have a second gen iPod touchand am frustrated by this. I reset all the settings, which is a pain because I have to re-enter all the wireless networks and rearrange my icons. The sound came back on speaker for a while, but now is gone. If I plug in the headphones, the software volume controls appear and the volume buttons start working again. With the exception of listening to music, I rarely even use my headphones so this is annoying.

  • How do I control the volume so all my songs are the same loudness

On my older IPOD, one song plays soft, then the next is too loud.  How can I control the volume so they are all the same loudness?

See the playback section (more specifically the Sound Check option) of this Apple support document for a possible suggestion.

  • How do you control the volume to the earphones?

How do you control the volume to the earphones?

Apple Support Communities updatesActually I knew that part of it, but I had to go to Settings to correct something.  They are working now that I fixed something that I have no recollection that I altered in the first place, nor do I now know what in heaven’s  name I fixed this time.  All I know is that I must have gone to setting a million and one times and the last time was the one I did something right.
Thank you for your help however.

With the volume up and down keys unless you purchase a set with a volume control connected to the chord.
