HT1595 stuck on date and time window
We experience a power outage and now my apple tv is stuck on trying to set the date and time. Does anyone know how to repair this?
I was able to get my Apple TV working again by downgrading the firmware following the instructions in this message:
https://discussions.apple.com/message/20008613#20008613
In case that message disappears, here's my translation:
1. Connect your Apple TV to your computer via USB. Don't plug in the power cable.
2. Download the older 5.0.2 firmware from Apple here:
5.0.2 (Apple TV 2): AppleTV2,1_5.0.2_9B830_Restore.ipsw
5.0.2 (Apple TV 3): AppleTV3,1_5.0.2_9B830_Restore.ipsw
3. Open iTunes and select the Apple TV. Hold down the option key and press the restore button at the same time.
4. In the dialog that opens select the firmware that you downloaded.
5. The restore process will take a few minutes. Once it's done plug your Apple TV back into your TV. If the date and time message persists just press the menu button to skip it. This got mine working again.

Date time Apple TV
Welcome to the Apple Community.
If this is a new Apple TV, in addition to trying the steps already taken, it may also be that your network router is not allowing access to the timeserver, check that your router allows access over port 123. -
After the last update, the default email app is not working as expected. It can send email but when it checks email, it never downloads any new messages. The last updated display at the top of the screen shows that the last successful update was on 5/3 just before the update took place. I will probably just download an email app and can this one but thought I would ask in case there is an easy fix.
On my S4, a little message "Master sync turned off" blinks at the bottom of the email app when I tried to manually sync.
On another thread, I discovered that you have to go into the settings toggle screen (swipe down from the top, hit the little four-square icon in the upper-right) and find "Sync". That has to be turned back on. For whatever reason, it was off on my phone after NC5 installed, and the email program needs it to be on. Was it always there? I don't know.
There is a separate sync setting that you can change inside the email app for each account... but they all cease functioning if the "Sync" is off. So make sure the main "Sync" is on, and maybe that will restore your email function. Good luck! -
I want to know if there is anyone out there with a similar issue-
When I *right click* on the Time (top right on Menu bar) and then *click on "Open Date and TIme"*, I get the beachball......it typically waits in beachball mode for about *45 sec-1min* before actually displaying the "*Date and Time"* window.
I was on the phone with Apple care about this *and the issue with the system freezing*.......they asked me to archive and re-install , but the issue with the date and time is still there. I will wait and see if the system freeze has been solved (I didnt install version 1.1).
Like the folks in other threads have already pointed out, my system freezes when it comes back from "Sleep".......and also when I am doing doing simple things like browsing.
Lets see....but please let me know if anyone sees the issue with the date/time...
Thanks,
New Mac Convert (a little frustrated that it crashes worse than my windows box)Thanks for the replies guys...
Yes, the date/time is set to auto and the source is "Apple Americas/US (time.apple.com)"
One thing I noticed is that whenever it hangs for 45 sec or so.....once the window shows up (after hanging), the lock for changes is "open".....but if I lock it at that point, close the window and then rt click on time and open Date/Time again, it does not hang......somehow when this is "locked", it does not hang when you want to open it.
But, if u are in the lock mode, and want to "click the lock" to make changes, it hangs on you again......hope this makes sense. -
My apple tv stuck at setting date and time. Also when connecting yo network doesn't ask for network password
I just went through this last night. (Aug 15, 2013)
What I did to get back up and running. This is not the first time I have lost the network connection with my Apple TV 3
Products effected: Apple TV 3 and Home Sharing (My Apple TV 1 was not effected)
Power down (unplug) the Apple TV and power down your router ( in my case, it is a FIOS router, flipping the on/off works fine).
Power both items back up.
At this point, I usually can reenter my Apple ID and PW. and reconnect Home Sharing. But for some reason I was unable to reconnect last night but was able to get it reconnected in the morning. I was jut to tired to deal with it last night.
A new issue that is was able to fix after a good nights sleep.
I did figure out, (after trying to reenter my ID and PW many times and having it tell me that my ID and PW was wrong), that when using the Apple TV on screen keypad to type in the user ID. DO NOT use the ".com" keypad button. Instead type out each character for .com. ( or what ever ending you use for your ID account.)
Once I typed out my full ID and PW. everything is back to 100% -
HT1595 how do i access apple tv when screen is stuck at setting date and time
how do i access apple tv when screen is stuck at setting date and time, have unplugged system, restarted router....
Welcome to the Apple community.
Assuming this is not the first time you have used your Apple TV
You might try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Also try restarting the router.
If the problem persists, try a restore, you may want to try the previous procedures several times before doing this.
If this is a new Apple TV, it may also be that your network router is not allowing access to the timeserver, check that your router allows access over port 123. -

HT1595 My AppleTV seems to be stuck on the "Setting Date and Time" load page
I just moved from a house to an apartment and when I hooked up my appleTV it said "Setting date and time" with a spinning load wheel and it's been doing this for a long time now. I hit MENU on the remote and tried going to Settings> General> Network like it said at the bottom of the screen, but nothing happened. It's connected to the right WiFi network, but the only icons it shows on the home screen are the 'Computers' icon (for Home Sharing) and the 'Settings' icon. My movies, music, tv shows, netflix etc. icons aren't showing up. I restarted it and got as far as the "Setting date and time" load page again, where it just sits and loads.

Issue with Date and Time Picker on Windows 8.1 and Office 2013
We are having a issue with the Developer tool in Excel called the Date and Time Picker which puts a calendar field into the spreadsheet where you can select a date from the calendar popup
If we change this date field and then save and close and reopen it reverts back to the previous date before the change was made
If we do the same process on a Windows 7 machine with Office 2013 it saves the changes we made to the Date and Time picker fieldHi jdono2,
I'm using Windows 8 and Office 2013,and I can't reproduce this issue.
Please make sure you have already upgraded to the latest version of excel, try to reregister the MSCOMCT2.OCX.
Also you can try to use another date picker add-in to test this issue.

Hi,
I am working on a validation script to get the list of hotfixes installed on Domain Controllers every month as part of our monthly DC patching process. I have been successful in getting these details for DC's with (Windows Server 2008
R2 SP1, Powershell v2.0) using the below command.
Get-HotFix -cn $computer | Select-Object PSComputerName,HotFixID,Description,InstalledBy,InstalledOn | where InstalledOn -ge (Get-Date -Day 1 -Format d) | FT -AutoSize
I execute the above from a jump box with powershell v4.0 (Server 2008 R2)
However, when I try the same command from the jump box to query DC's with (Server 2008 SP2, powershell v2.0). It doesn't return the InstalledOn date and time. It was giving error for the InstalledOn property and hence I renamed it to $_.InstalledOn. Now
I don't get error but still no details displayed for InstalledOn property.
I tried using the below, as could see on few forums that this might resolve the issue. I also tried removing the "where" part but still no installation date returned.
Get-HotFix -cn $computer | Select-Object HotFixID, Description, InstalledBy, @{l="InstalledOn";e={[DateTime]::Parse($_.psbase.properties["installedon"].value,$([System.Globalization.CultureInfo]::GetCultureInfo("en-US")))}}
| where {$_.InstalledOn -ge (Get-Date -Day 1 -Format d)} | FT -AutoSize
Have tried this locally on the 2008 SP2 DC but still not working. Please advise what is going wrong?
Note: If I execute the below command locally on the 2008 SP2 DC, I am getting the InstalledOn output. However, when executed from the jump box with powershell v4.0 (Server 2008 R2) to query
the same 2008 SP2 DC, it just gives the prompt again without any error or output. This behavior is consistent for other 2008 SP2 DC's in the environment.
Get-HotFix -cn $computer | Select-Object HotfixID,Description,InstalledBy,InstalledOn | where {$_.InstalledOn -ge (Get-Date -Day 1 -Format d)} | FT -AutoSizeHi jrv, I have already tried the Win32_QuickFixEngineering option, which doesn't work either. Apologies for not mentioning the workarounds that I have already tried.
Get-Hotfix seems to be just a wrapper for Win32_QuickFixEngineering as per the below article. (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh849836.aspx)
I have seen a mention of using the WU ActiveX control on few forums, but was too lazy to read it through.
After rigorous testing, it makes me realize that somewhere the Get-Hotfix dates formatting\comparison isn't working. -
My Apple TV stopped working while watching a Netflix show and the light on the box started blinking. It seemed like all I could do was "restore" which I did. Then in the process of restarting the Apple TV it said "activating the date and time".It has been stuck on this spot ever since (2 days). Everytime I turn the Apple TV back on to see where it is, it is still on this step. As for my choices on what I would call the main screen, I can either go to "Settings" or "Computers". All the numerous choices available (Netflix, Podcasts, NBA, MLB, You Tube, etc, etc) are not available..not even on the screen. This Apple TV box is pretty much useless at this point. Any advice??

2. Also try restarting the router.
3. If the problem persists, try a restore, you may want to try the previous procedures several times before doing this. -
How to find the Date and time of Installation of Oracle in Windows?
Hi ,
Is there any way to find the installation Date and time of Oracle in Windows?
Regards
RajeshIf you have never recreated/restored/reincarnated the database, then CREATED column from v$database should tell you when you created the database.
If you are looking for the date/time of installation of Oracle home, check the logs under OraInventory.

How to set the date and time format from Windows Server 2008 R2
Hi,
I want to control my client's date and time format as dd/mm/yyyy format and I need to do it using the windows server 2008 R2. How can I achieve this goal?
Yoshika04Hi,
In Windows Server 2008 R2, you can use Regional Options Extension in Group Policy Preferences to configure the date and
time format. For more information, please refer to:

Why the time differently when i change OS? I was used network time server on my both OS, but the time still wrong after i changed operating system... How can i solve this problem?
Thx.
KelvinHi Kelvin,
The answer to your question lies within the Boot Camp Beta - Installation & Setup Guide. Under the Troubleshooting section on the last page. I quote:
My computer doesn’t always show the correct date and time.
The Windows XP and Mac OS X operating systems handle your computer’s date and time information differently, so the date and time may be different when you switch operating systems.
For best results, use a network time server. Resync the date and time whenever you switch operating systems.
To resync your date and time:
In Mac OS X, reset the option to “Set date & time automatically” in the Date & Time pane of System Preferences.
In Windows, click the Update Now button in the “Date and Time Properties” control panel.
Alternatively, you can manually set the correct date and time when you switch operating systems.
End quote

I am in the process of updating my apple tv and it seems to be stuck on updating date and time.
Is your Apple TV connected to a Wi-Fi network and does it have a valid IP address?
You can find some general info about connecting it to the Internet here -> Apple TV (2nd and 3rd generation): Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
