  • Apple TV Bricked after update?

Installed an update this morning (prompted by Apple TV). Finished downloaded and rebooted. Never came back. Console light keeps blinking. I've tried a reset using the remote (MENU + DOWN), it blinks quickly indicating reset was accepted, but goes back to the same state.
Anyone else? Any way to fix it?

The USB connector is not standard, and I don't remember one shipping with the device? I may be wrong..

  • My iPhone is half bricked after update to 6.1.3

So, this is how it happened... I use this phone for quite a while now, and I noticed that after I updated my iphone 4, it is annoying that it reboots then freeze on the apple logo even after I hard reset it, sometimes it takes a whole 15 minutes just to get it right, and I restored it like 5 times now in recovery mode, since this is happening at the most crutial times of my day, either I sell it to someone with a very low price, or can I repair it somehow??? the battery already replaced....I dont know what to do, can anyone help???

How was the battery replaced, maybe that's what caused the problem?
Try is restoring the iPhone and setting it up as a new device, to make sure you aren't carrying over any data that could be causing the problem to happen again.

  • My apple tv died after update

Black screen and white light flash slow on appletv??

Similar problem: Said yes to an update; after update only Computers and Settings logo on screen, updated again via traditional iTunes method and got everything back except for Settings. Anytime I select a specific settings menu such as "General" screen goes black.  Can only get back to main menu by pressing menu key on remote twice.   Lesson learned: only allow an update if there's a major upgrade offered by Apple.  They just don't test these updates thoroughly enough before releasing.

  • HT1600 Problems accessing iTunes after update?

    Hi,
Just put my Apple TV through the update last night.  After the update, I can no longer access iTunes related functions like ordering movies or tv episodes nor can I access my Purchased items.  I checked my account info and all is well.  I also tried other apps and all is well there too.  I restarted the device but still have the issue.
    Thoughts?

Try logging out and in to your iTunes store account.

  • Apple tv bricked by update v7

Trying to update my Apple TV 3rd gen, rev 2 (A1469 - AppleTV3,2 - MD199LL/A) to Apple TV 7, the update failed. Now I need to restore my Apple TV via iTunes. But the so-called "micro USB" connector on the ATV is different from any other micro USB cables that I have.
Where can I get the correct cable, and how do I specify it to be sure I'm not getting yet another micro USB cable with the wrong size USB connector?
BTW, I tried to make a Genius Bar reservation, but (due to the iPhone 6 rollout) they're booked for days.

Standard microUSB which are data/power capable work. If there are proprietary modifications or they are power-only, they will not work.
Do the same cables allow you transfer images from cameras for example? If yes, they are both data and power capable.
If you have an Apple Store close by, you can try and reset it there, otherwise you will need to get a cable that works.

  • Apple TV bricked after v6.0 Update Help Requested

My AppleTV was working before the v6.0 update. When I updated it I noticed it took a long time. It seemed to go ok but it then rebooted and showed to connect to iTunes. Never saw that before so I did a little Googling to figure out what was the cause. Looking around it seems this has happened before so I connected it to iTunes and tried to restore it no such luck.
So then I have tried restoring it across 4 different PCs and none were able to restore it. So now my question is I know its out of warranty but Apple's update is what messed it up. I had no issues before that. Am I screwed?
I made a Genius Bar appointment for Wednesday but Apple TV was not listed as a reason so I picked iPhone and explained in the notes what the issue is. Do you think they will let me try one of the Macs there to see if that will work for a restore or at least offer a replacement? Had it failed on its own I would think nothing of it and would never dream of asking for a replacement but their update is what killed it I think the responsibility lies on them. Even more proof in that it is their issue they pulled the update.
On the more technical side here is the PCs I used for the restore:
    Windows 8 Desktop
Windows 7 Desktop (Disabled Security Essentials)
    Windows 8 Laptop
Windows 7 Desktop (Fresh Box nothing installaed except iTunes)
I tried the latest version of iTunes and version 11.0 and same issues. All fail when it gets to Preparing Apple TV for Restore it sits at this for quite a while and then gives me several different errors. The most common across all machines was 1611. Which I read was a security software issue. Thats why I used a fresh Windows 7 system with Windows Firewall disabled and I still received the same error.
I notice that when restoring on the PCs that at first the power indicator on the AppleTV flashes rapidly and then when it gets to preaparing AppleTV for restore it flashes much slower until it fails and then it goes back to flashing quickly. Not sure what this indicates but thats what happens. I am sure there are details I am missing please feel free to ask and I will provide any information to help us solve this. Thank you.

    Peter,
So I just went and got a Micro USB cable of completely different make from one of my Co-Workers and followed this article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4367
My AppleTV does not show up in the iTunes list at all with just the Micro USB cable and it is the 720P version Apple 2.
    ****EDIT****
Spoke to soon I left mty AppleTV connected to the PC as I was typing it and it just now showed in iTunes with just the USB cable connected. It is now restoring as we speak. Thay article needs to be changed to reflect that the AppleTV 2 can take several minutes to appear in iTunes. Thank you sir very much appreciated.

  • Apple TV just bricked after update

My Apple TV is bricked and needs to connect to itunes... I don't own a Mac or PC. I do have an iphone 5s and an ipad 2. Can I piggyback my Apple TV onto these devices do I need to go to an apple store?

Here are some steps and notes to try:
MANY people are reporting they've had to try multiple micro USB cables to find one that works. I got one that worked from a neighbor.
For clarification, this needs to be a "micro" USB, not a "mini" USB
Some people have also reported they've had to try the Restore process more than once.
    1. Unplug Apple TV and move it to your computer running latest version of iTunes.
    2. Quit iTunes if running.
    3. Plug micro USB cable to the back of the Apple TV.
    4. Power the Apple TV using  the AC cable.
    5. iTunes shoud either launch itself (a good indication that the micro USB cable you're using is compatible), or launch iTunes.
    6. Click Restore. Software will download and install (big file).

  • Is my Iphone 4 bricked after updating to IOS 5

Well ive updated my iphone 4 to ios 5 and everything was ok untill a couple of days later. I restarted my phone and was getting the solid apple logo and that was it. After pressing home and on/off buttons it went off.
Now i dont get nothing at all, Not a thing. Ive tried getting it in DFU mode for restore and not getting no signs of life at all. Ive literally been trying to do this all day and hopefully someone can help me here. I cant see how a phone just goes off and shows no sign of life just like that, No water damage or anything else like that has happened.
Ive also left it on charge for a couple of hours even thou the battery was at least 50% charged.
Any help will be great, Thanks

Connect your iPhone to iTunes. If it doesn't come up in the sidebar for a good amount of time, start holding the power and home buttons. Count down from 10. Then, release the power button and coninue holding the home button for up to 30 seconds. If it doesn't come out of recovery or DFU (which can sometimes make it appear bricked), continue this process. KiltedTim's answer is also helpful and can sometimes take care of this problem.

  • ATV2 (720P) Fatal Brick After Update

I attempted to install the ATV 6.0 update yesterday, and encountered the same "brick" issues others here have reported. After the update, the only thing that worked on my ATV was the front panel LED light, as it blinked constantly.
Since I didn't have a micro USB cable handy to connect my device to my Mac, and since I really didn't look forward to fishing behind my A/V cabinet for the power cord, I made an appointment at the Apple Store Genius Bar, figuring they could fix things quickly and easily......if only this had happened!
My Apple Store tech connected my ATV to his MacBook Air and, after some fiddling, finally got the device to appear in iTunes. He then ran the Restore process, which seemed to go fine until the very end, when it threw an error code on his MacBook. He tried to run the Restore process again, but wasn't able to get my ATV to appear in iTunes. He'd mentioned earlier that if an ATV breaks after the warranty's up, there's a $59 charge to fix it.
Well, after trying everything he could think of, he was never able to get the device to appear in iTunes. So...he excused himself to consult with his manager, and offered to replace my ATV with a new one for $59. I accepted this offer, because I WAS getting an upgrade from 720P to 1080P....but left the store thinking I got "half-screwed" by Apple. I mean, my device was working fine prior to this update, and it was Apple's update that bricked it.
While I was allowed to keep my bricked device, I doubt seriously I'll be able to do anything with it if iTunes can't see it.

I have encounter the same issue with my ATV.  I was hoping to find that Apple was offering FREE replacements since these units were obviously working units to have downloaded their 6.0 software update messed them up. Working ATV 2nd gen are going for $150-200 on ebay because they can be jail broken.  I should have sold it while it was working.

  • IPhone 4 Bricked after updating to iOS5

So, the day iOS5 update came out for the iPhones/iPods/iPads I was egar to get it downloaded to update my software on my iPhone 4. I noticed they had an update for iTunes so I went ahead and updated my iTunes before I started updating my iPhone 4.  After waiting for my iTunes to update, I then downloaded the new iOS5 update...ran a backup on my iPhone 4. After I updated iTunes, downloaded the new iOS5 and backed my phone up, I then plugged my iPhone 4 to my computer to run the iOS5 update...the update successfully updated. I used it for 2 days working perfectly. When I was traveling last Saturday, I pulled the notification center down to check all my notifications and my screen turned off.  I've tried to hard-reboot it...everthing, it had completely bricked on me! I noticed that my screen was still on, but it was black. I then plugged my iPhone 4 in to iTunes and iTunes recognized my phone for about seconds then an error message popped up saying that iTunes can't recieve any data on my iphone becasue there is an error. I called apple and they said bring it in...I'm just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this problem? Or does anyone know a solution besided taking it to apple? Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you, Justin!

  • Apple adressbook failures after update to Lion

Recently I updated my MacBookPro from SnowLeo 10.6.7 to Lion 10.7.4. by downloading the Lion software from App Store. I followed the instructions and finally it seemed to function properly.
In the beginning I had some issues making backups with time machine but believe I could resolve them.
At present, I do have problems with my Apple address book. It contains all my files (from the original address book) but individual files do not open and the original address book does not work anymore under LION. I see the names listed on the left side of the "new" address book and when I click on a name it does not appear on the right side of the book. It looks like the right side is "frozen".
I would appreciate any idea how I can solve this issue. Thanks.

Don't know about being "slow" - I've always felt it was slow.  I could run Office XP (maybe 2000 - not sure) on an 133 mhz Pentium and it was faster than Numbers on my late 2008 Aluminum MB.
But I've had other issues under Lion with it.  It seems whenever I first go to my spreadsheets after the computer has been asleep - even if it is some time after waking it up - and start to enter some numbers, I'll get a beep and see that what I tried to type didn't come out right and I have to do it again.
I was wondering if it was something to do with the auto-save versions maybe kicking in when I first start to enter info, but before I finish the first entry.

  • Apple TV blinking after update today no picture

got new update for Apple TV now it is blinking with no picture or sound......september 2013

    hi,
I tried restarting several times, without success.
I tried to downgrade over iTunes to 4.3 ... but got always an error.
Restoring over iTunes seems to work but made no changes, version 4.4 stays, the box is functioning, it boots, is searching for the time but finds noch wifi ... by pressing menu on the remote I come to the overview... if I try to search manually in network options, the list where wifis should appear stays empty.
So wifi is dead. And that after an update?

  • Apple product unreadable after updating Itunes 11.1.5

I need serious help because I'm having this problem for almost a month.
Last month I updated my Itunes to 11.1.5 and after I updated it. NONE of my Apple products is detectable by Itunes and it's really annoying because I can't update my playlist.
I have followed all this steps given by the apple website and NONE OF THEM WORKED.
    1. Update iTunes
    2. Check the USB cable
    3. Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
    4. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service
    5. Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed
    6. Check for third-party software conflicts

With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR suitable for your PC (there's a 32-bit Windows version and a 64-bit Windows version):
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, see if iTunes will launch without the error now.
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)
