HT1600 Apple TV update not successful

I'm trying to update my Apple TV (3rd generation) to 5.11. It keeps getting right near the end of the install, hangs for a couple of minutes, and says "update not successful". I restart the Apple TV like it asks ans get the same results. I've also rest settings and attempted a restore but nothing is working.

As far as I know the update breaks the ATV. Doing restore from iTunes will make it revert to the old firmware. You will have to rebuild it - wifi and what not. I have not tried it again - waiting for the NEXT update before I try again. This is the only method I have seen which works.

If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV.
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Source list, and then click Restore.
Download the below file. Get to the point of restore Apple TV and hold the option key down when you click on the Restore button.
Browse to the downloaded file and restore.

Every time I try to update my apple tv, i get the error message at the end that says Update not successful, try again...
I am using it on a cable off my router and works perfectly. IE streams Netflix just fine etc.

If you are using Ethernet, try with wifi.
If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
    1.    Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
    2.    Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.

    4.    Open iTunes.

Apple Software Update Not Working

I cannot get Apple Software Update to work on my Windows XP Pro system. It simply says that new software was found but it did not specify which Apple software needs to be updated. I am using iTunes, QuickTime, and Safari. Any help appreciated!

The latest version numbers (at the time I'm making this post) are:
iTunes 10.6.3.25
QuickTime 7.7.2
Safari 5.1.7

Same problem here, the Apple TV 3rd gen. has suggested an update, but despite the complete download, the process failed on the second step(progress bar) and I've got an "connect to iTune with micro USB cable" splash screen, no white LED on ATV.
I've connected the ATV unit to my "up to date for all soft" 2013 iMac, and I've got the restore Apple TV dialog. The download completes, but the update process failed with an "1611 error" warning. It seems that his error is related to virus protection software. But... I do not use any virus protection software... so I can't apply any suggested workaround to solve the problem.
I've now a dead box Apple TV.
Bad, bad move when selecting "apply update" on a pretty usable ATV.

I am installing the latest Apple TV update and it has been over an hour. It is sitting on "Step 1 of 2 : Preparing Update. Do not unplu..."
The progress bar is approximately 3/4 of the way complete. Do you know if thsi si normal?

The device is in recovery mode due to a failed update. The only resolution is to restore via ITunes on the computer.
A microUSB cable is fairly inexpensive, or you could take the device to the Apple store and see if they can assist with restoring or replacing the device.

Apple TV update not rebooting?

I tried the new ATV update today and my ATV did not seem to reboot properly.
I unplugged it from power, replugged it, and saw a green screen with the iTunes logo and up arrow and a USB connector.
It seemed to be asking my to attach to iTunes as you would an iPhone.
The unit is emitting a very fast blinking and the screen has turned black.
Any suggestions would be helpful.

Actually, I must admit that I left the Apple TV input to watch Tivo on another TV input, and when I returned, I got a black screen.
In any case, I will try this update using my laptop and the micro-USB. I'll let you know how it works out.

Apple Software Updates not working properly

Since I installed Yosemite OS X10.10 and then OS X10.10.1 I am having problems using Apple Updates. Some items install (usually not Apple products) other show up on the Items to Install list and never leave, although they also show up in the "Installed in the last 30days". These items quickly install or at least they say they are installed but they do not properly install and even though my computer shows that Safari 8.0.2 is installed, I am still running Safari 8.0. This is still going on and includes the most recent Security Update ver 1.0, Safari 8.0.2. I was able to of to the apple web-site and download HP Printer Software Update 3.0 and Digital Raw Compatibility Update ver 6.02 which were acting in the same manner as the Apple software and I think they updated from the direct download but I can't be sure because I don't know where these files lives. Obviously there is a corrupted file in the Updates software or somehow I there are read/write, plist or some other issues going on. I really don't know where to go or what to do with this issue. Even the Apple certified tech who I had look at this and other problems said it was out of his league.

I am very annoyed with the frequency with which notifications for software update pop up and bother a user from the Apple Notification Centre. Seeing the notification once or a few times is enough for one to register the update. Is there any way of switching this off?

Qosmio F10: nVidia GF Go 5700 - driver update not successful

I've a problem:
I'm not able to update the driver of the nvidia from the 6.14.10.6612 (that are from 2004!!)
I tryed on nvidia home page, but none of the driver works with my notebook.. (I read that this is not recommended on others post, but It was my only chanche !)
I also tryed to download from toshiba the F30 nvidia drivers... without success!!
I need to update this driver because when I try to install direct x9.c windows MCE give me an error, an it's due to the driver 6.14.10.6612 that have not WHQL certificate...
please give me an answer...

I followed all the instruction on laptopvideo2go...
I tried a lot of driver, in the end I found (helped through their forum) a good driver I was able to install it on my toshiba laptop...
What's the problem?
That driver (the only I could use form my Toshiba Qosmio F10 with GF 5700) is not windows certificate (WHQL)...
Now I resolved my software application problem with a trick, I modified the .cfg installation file in the way that the application does not ask for DirectX 9.c during installation process...
So now the SoftWare seem works correctly...
By the way, I was not, and I'm not able to install DirectX9.c on my laptop yet!
And the next Software I'll need, what will happen if it requires DirectX9.c ...?!?(should I have to loose 5 working days to install it?)

HT1600 Apple TV Update Issues.

Hi i just updated my Apple TV (2nd Gen) to the latest software. After its completed the update, it restarts, on the restart its showing me an iTunes logo with a cable going to it, what does this mean? I cant get back to the ATV home screen.

The update failed - you need to restore via iTunes by using a USB to microUSB lead (that Apple annoyingly don't include!).
Try to restore the AppleTV software to current version software using instructions here:

Pay attention to differences in power connection depending on whether or not you have AppleTV2 (which youd do) or AppleTV 3.
