HT1600 mac to airplay

How do i use airplay, from my mac to apple tv to watch youtube ext... Pls help

Your computer must early 2011 or later and has to have Mountain Lion OS.
Apple TV 2nd or 3rd generation.
If that's the case goto System Preferences and Displays for the mirroring options.

  • Why can't my mac use airplay?

I have a two year old mac book pro and have recently discovered after paying $19.99 for OSX Mountain Lion that I will not be able to utilize airplay.
Airplay is one of the featured products with the new  OSX software:
AirPlay Mirroring is made for an audience. Because with a click, what’s on your Mac is also on your HDTV. It’s easy to set up with Apple TV. Show web pages and videos to friends on the couch, share lessons with a classroom, or present to a conference room. AirPlay audio streams the music, podcasts, and other audio on your Mac to AirPlay-enabled speakers. It’s a big deal for your Mac. And for everyone around it.
This ad, for AirPlay, makes no clear reference to the fact that any Mac more than one year old will not be able to utilize the feature.
Considering I recently purchased an IPhone 4S and also own an Apple TV device, and purchased my mac book pro only 2 years ago, I find it ridiculous that such a feature would be incompatible with perfectly fine hardware, especially considering the price paid for these devices. All the while considering I paid for Mountain Lion banking on the plan that I could utilize Airplay, which, due to misguiding advertising discovered that my i7 decked out Macbook Pro would be incapable of utilizing the arguably primary function of the $19.99 mountain lion upgrade.
I had chosen Apple as the sole source of all of my new hardware because I considered their hardware intuitive and simple, and it frustrates me as a loyal customer to find out that they are making their new purchased updates exclusive and restrictive to macs of a 2011+ model.
Apple has been successful thus far due to a great amount of satisfaction among it's consumers, I hope this utter disappointment is not the direction apple is turning towards as a company as I will not continue to choose a company with such a dismissive level of consideration for a vast majority of it's consumers.
This is my first disappointment as a devout apple customer, and I sincerely hope it is my last.
I would hate to regret all of the heartfelt support I have provided Apple over the years to people who have doubted the level of fulfillment purchasing an Apple product used to provide. I sincerely hope things turn around quickly, as I am sincerely confused as to what my $19.99 brought me. Let alone the thousands of dollars I have provided to this company.

based on all the specs listed i met them and airplay still does not work -çhes a copy of my response to Apple:
After a frustrating 2 hour call on why airplay in Mountain Lion did not work properly  - see transcript of case # 356682008 - i was told to connect via ethernet cable to identify the issue. Ethernet Cable - in my household they went the way of dinosaurs as the one feature that made me upgrade to mountain lion was the ability to use airplay wirelessly - without having to connect the $60 Apple cable to my HDTV anymore. I do not even know the last time I had an ethernet cabe in my hands.
The fact that nowhere in your literature as of this morning requested an ethernet cable as part of the specification for use of the features of Mountain Lion basically equates to false advertising - either that or the MacBook Pro you sold me lack some of the functions that you were supposed to provide - I would like to know how are you going to fix this situation that does not require me to waste any more of my billable time with you.

  • Can my mac support airplay mirroring?, can my mac support airplay mirroring?

didn't you want to know what kind of Macbook Air do you own?

  • Mac mini airplay

Hi, downloaded my mountain lion and I'm running 10.8 on my mac mini intel core 2 duo with 4 GB memory. I want to use airplay on my apple tv but there is no setting in monitor to allow me to do that. Can anyone help out?

    AirPlay Mirroring
Requires a second-generation Apple TV or later.
What version of the Apple TV do you have? Has its firmware been updated to the latest version?

  • Why are my Macs not airplay compatible devices?

I have been using Mac Minis for many years connected to LCD TVs and prefer having a real, full-on Mac computer over a limited Apple TV. It is extremely annoying that there is no Airplay for desktops connected to TV. I spent a lot more than the cost of AppleTVs, but I am left out. The current Mac Mini has a fricken HDMI output!
Can anyone from Apple answer why this is the case? Does it make sense?
Anyone else have this same gripe?

  • Mac Mini / Airplay delay /Magic mouse Range

I want to consult on something, I hope someone can answer my questions.
I need to know if next setup will work:
I have a two store house.
    Home - setup
second floor - TV with Mac Mini (newest with i5)
first floor - TV Full HD with Apple TV 1080p
My goal is to use a mac mini on both TV's and loose my macbook air.
I want to cover two questions:
Will Airplay from Mac Mini (using as computer) to my other TV work without delay (or acceptable delay)?
Will bluetooth Magic mouse & Apple wireless keyboard work on a distance of around 4 meters with a concrete floor in between?
    (I can't test it as I don't have a Mac Mini)
    Thanks!

Hi, Bluetooth has very limited range & likely ZERO through concrete.

maybe a stupid question... could I use may imac (late 2009) to stream music trought airplay to an AV receiver airplay compatible?
I know that my imac does not support airply mirroring.
    Thanks in advance

    Hello maltus,
As long as the computer is running iTunes 10 or later, it should be capable of broadcasting to an AirPlay enabled system. In case things don't pan so smoothly, we've an article that can help iron out any potential wrinkles.
    Listening through multiple speakers
With AirPlay and iTunes 10 or later, you can listen to music through your computer speakers and multiple AirPlay outputs.

  • Streaming Audio with Mac OSX Airplay

    Hello,
I am able to utilize my MBP (June 2012) for Airplay with my Apple TV (newest one). However, I can stream images... but no audio... unless I'm streaming directly from iTunes. Is there a cable I need?
    Any help would be appreciated
    Thanks!

Actually I was able to get it to work... I just upgraded to 10.8.1... I didn't realize that there was already an update for Mountain Lion!! Thanks As a side note... do you know if there is a way to tell when there is new software available? Apart from continuously checking?

  • HT1600 When I airplay from my macbook air to Apple TV there is a checkerboard display on the computer screen when the movie starts and on the apple tv .

How to fix airplay to my apple tv. Home airplay is "on" on the apple tv and the computer. Movie plays on the macbook air but when airplay is activated a checkboard screen covers the computer and tv. They are on the same wi-fi. Blue tooth on the computer is off.

You have mirroring enabled. If you are trying to play iTunes content just use home sharing or airplay.

  • My Mac PRO (serial number  edited by host )has installed OS X Lion 10.7.5. Can I update it to OS Mountain Lion to work Airplay with apple TV?

My Mac PRO (serial number    <edited by host>) has installed OS X Lion 10.7.5. Can I update it to OS Mountain Lion to work Airplay with apple TV?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
The serial number doesn't tell us anything. Open  > About this Mac > More Info, and tell us the first two lines of the window, where you should see MacBook Pro and a line below, which indicates the model you have:
That's what I see on my Mac. AirPlay Mirroring requires an Early 2011 or newer MacBook Pro, so if you see Early 2011 MacBook Pro or newer in that line, you can use AirPlay Mirroring. Read > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5404
If you want to upgrade, make a backup of your files and check that your applications are compatible > http://www.roaringapps.com Then, open the Mac App Store and purchase Mountain Lion. When the download finishes, the Mountain Lion installer will appear, so follow the steps. After upgrading, you will see the AirPlay icon on the menu bar.
If you don't want to upgrade, you can use an application like Beamer or AirParrot

  • I don't see the airplay on my mac

I just purchased mountain lion, and the airplay does not appear in the top

Airplay and Airplay mirroring are not the same.  Airplay will work on your pre 2011 Mac.  Airplay mirroring, on the other hand, requires in-GPU H264 encoding which according to apple is only available on the 2011 Macs.
Airparrot works by doing the H264 encoding via your CPU.  It is not the most ideal method (heating, fans kick in, etc) which is why apple decided to draw the line at 2011.

  • Haw i can see by AirPlay my HD drive connected to the Mac

Haw i can see by AirPlay my HD drive connected to the Mac?

AirPlay is a media streaming protocol. It does not provide any means to "see" a hard drive regardless of whether it is connected directly to the Mac or a network drive.
Are you trying to access media files on an external hard drive from iTunes so that you can stream them? If so, you have a number of options. One would be to import these media files into your computer's iTunes Library. Once imported, they can be accessed directly from the iTunes interface.

  • I bought a mini DVI to HDMI convertor and  a HDMI to VGA cable to connect my mac book pro to a tv but it doesn't work any one can help.\\\\\

i bought a mini DVI to HDMI convertor and  a HDMI to VGA cable to connect my mac book pro to a tv but it doesn't work any one can help.

I would suggest looking into a Thunderbolt to HDMI connector. In this case, you may be able to use the TV as an external monitor. For this option, please confirm through additional research. I have not tested it personally.
You can also use an Apple TV, which connects with HDMI. In this case, you can use Airplay Mirroring. Not all Macs support Airplay Mirroring, so you need to check first. I have a Mid-2011 27" iMac, and it supports Airplay Mirroring. I don't use it often because my TV is in another room, but I just tried it and it worked. It had to change the screen resolution to work well, so I don't know if I would want to use it as my day to day monitor. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5404
