HT1600 was told to update the tv via computer.....

trying to update apple t.v from version to a 5.1 through the computer update. tried through it st up on tv, but no luck....anyone know how?

Which Apple TV do you have? If its the 1st gen (ie not a little black box) then there won't be an update. If you have one of the recent models then how are you trying to update and what exactly is the issue

Be careful with Windows Updates, especially driver updates. Standard WHQL drivers can cause problems.

That situation went from inconvenient to complicated quickly.  Wait for any pending orders to drop off, wait for things to clear up, wait till your upgrade comes up and then upgrade when your contract is fulfilled.  I would have suggested a replacement phone, I know, with only a month left why couldn't you just upgrade early, but these situations where people try to upgrade early always end horribly and once a phone order starts, it almost cannot finish until something winds up shipped received and returned.  Sorry this happened the way it did.  Definitely not efficient.

  • I bought  an iPad 3 yesterday; this is an upgrade from the original iPad. I was told that migrating the data would be simple. My desktop is a PC with Windows 7 Professional. I can't find a way to back up my old iPad so I can restore the data to the new

I bought an update to the original iPad an iPad 3. In was told that migrating the data from my old iPad to the new will be a snap. Alas, it isn't. My desktop is a new high end PC that came preloaded with Windows 7 Professional and I have had nothing but problems. My earlier computer was XP and everything, including my Apple interface, in particular iTunes, worked without problems. When I was trying to back up my data from the old iPad to my desktop, the only thing it would do is synchronize, then got an error message to download the latest iTunes, which I did but it still did not work. I have a lot of music both purchased through iTunes and a lot of others which were CDs that were copied to the desktop. I also have a lot of books through Kindle and other books in iBooks and audio books from other sources, plus two iPods I want to sync. I need some advise on where I find the back up feature in iTunes so I can copy all the data on from my old iPad. Your help would be most appreciated. Thank you.

In technical support, sometimes you have to make educated guesses. I'm sorry that you were offended.
iTunes does prompt when it is going to erase a device, and the message is clear.
She said in her message that she was able to successfully sync the old ipad. This indicated to me that itunes wiping the data was not an issue, because either it had been setup at the apple store (in which case it doesn't actually wipe the ipad despite saying it will*) (*based on a single case I saw), or because the itunes media folder was migrated.
Furthermore, my solution was to tell her how to backup her ipad (by either doing it manually, or as a last resort, by deleting the corrupt backup -- that she couldn't access anyway.)
I got that last part of the instructions from the "Taking Control of your iphone" book which I found samples of when I did a google search for "corrupted backup itunes".
She marked this as a solution, so it worked for her.

  • Was trying to update the fafsa (Federal Student Aid)

I have a Mac OSX 10.6.8, I was trying to update the "fafsa" and got a message that my browser was not compatible!
Called the Fed Student Aid people and was told that their site was compatible with Safari 5.0 but not the newer one.
Can I get Safari 5.0 back or do I need to wait for Apple or the Federal Government to change something?
    Thanks for your help.
    Ann

It doesn't work with Safari 5.0 either (you are not the first to post here about Fafsa), some people claimed success with FireFox (which also did not work for me) so try that.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Another problem is that in Bridge (version 2.0.0.975) I can no longer see thumbnails of RAW files from my Canon 40D that I saw before.

I was trying to update itunes on my computer that has windows vista. during the update I received an error message; so I uninstalled itunes and reinstalled it. the instatlation process stopped with this message: "Service 'Apple Mobile Device' failed to start. Verify thta you have sufficient priviledges to start system services." I have used an ipad 2 since 2011 and have never had a problem with my itunes account or my ipad until now.
What steps do I need to complete to get my itunes account up and running again?

    Hi Kayleenfromwi,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  You may need to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service.  This article has instructions for doing this:

If that doesn't resolve the issue, I would recommend trying the steps in this article:

Switched to Verizon and bought my phone and plan in Feb,  submitted all paperwork to receive a discount because company I work for uses Verizon.  Was told they lost the paperwork in Jun and I could verify my employment by using my employee e-mail.  Did this and here it is towards the end of Sep and I still don't have my discount!!  Very frustrated and think maybe I should have stayed with AT&T.

I'm so sorry about this, Vboozer! You should definitely have your discount! When you submitted the email, did you get any kind of a confirmation? Did you get an email at your work email address from Verizon Wireless? You can check and register for your discount here: www.vzw.com/discounts

  • Updating the model via AJAX

    Victor,
I find Tor's and Greg M's bpcatalog documents describing AJAX and JSF useful. However they do not address 'updates'.
Updating the model via an AJAX request that is handled by the JSF framework as suggested by bccatalog examples is a challenge.
I am not sure if it is best to use the "Update Model" phase of the life cycle or just cheat and put he update code in the tags render response phase. Also, it appears that the "update model Phase" may not be included in the lifecycle as the ajax request is not really a JSF "postback".
Does anyone know what tradeoff result in doing an update in the Render Response Phase?
    Cheers,
    Godfrey

I've tried updating the model using AJAX and a RenderPhaseListener, but never succeeded. I have a simple CRUD form with two selectOneMenu components, some text boxes, and a submit button. When a selection is made in the first select list, an AJAX call is made that populates the second select list. Once that happens, the second select list contains a different list of <f:selectItems> in the DOM than it does in the underlying component model. If the array of SelectItems that are used to populate the second select list is in a managed bean, when the form is submitted, the second select list fails validation (Validation Failed: Not a Valid Value) because the selected item exists in the DOM, but not in the SelectItem array in the managed bean. To work around this, I placed the SelectItem array in the session, instead of in the managed bean. When the AJAX call is made, the backend Java code updates the SelectItem array in the session. This prevents the model and the DOM from getting out of synch. I hate putting anything in the session, because sessions tend to die, but this is the best workaround I could come up with. I'm open for any better solutions. Oh, by the way, if I use AJAX enabled select lists on a JSF page in a JSF 1.0 web app, the Invoke Application phase is mysteriously skipped when the form is submitted, which prevents the form contents from being saved. If I use JSF 1.1_01, the form saves like a charm. You gotta love being on the bleeding edge.
