HT1657 can i watch a rented movie where there is no wifi? like on a plane?

Can I watch a rented movie on my IPAD2 where there is no wifi? for example: download a rented movie at home then take it to an airplane and watch it.

As long as the film has been fully downloaded then you should be able to watch it whilst offline

I was interested in watching killing them softly( a movie) on the way to vacation with my family. Since I already downloaded it because I rented it, can I start watching it for the first time without wifi on the road.

As long as the film has been fully downloaded to the iPad's Videos app then you should be able to watch it whilst offline

Can I watch a rented movie from iTunes on my iPhone while on a plane?

I read that I may need to start the movie prior to departure so that it can connect via wifi (or whatever internet connection I use) and start the 24-hr "timer" for rented movies.  So,.. no truth to that?  More specifically, I can start a rented movie on iTunes, while on a plane, without an internet connection?

  • HT1657 Can you watch a rented movie in flight

Can you watch a rented movie from iTunes in flight?

Please be aware of the movie rental's time limitation that you have 30 days from the time of rental to watch your movie, and once you start watching it, you have 24 hours to finish watching it. You may watch it as many times as you like during those 24 hours. It may be helpful to make sure the download completes successfully before you begin watching the movie.
Once the download is complete you can watch it without an Internet connection. However, an Internet connection to the iTunes Store is required to authorize playback or activate the 24 hours time-limit of movie rentals. This means, only during the starting of the movie. Once you have started playing the movie rental, internet connection is not required. You can play anywhere without internet connection.
You may need to validate the rental prior to watching so it starts the rental period timer and for that you will need an internet connection. You can probably do that by starting the rented movie while on the Airport Wifi or right before leaving home. You'll have 24 hours to watch the movie after you start it.

Note: 24 hours time limit is for United States customer only, while 48 hours for other countries.

  • HT1657 can I watch a rented movie offline

i have rented several movies to try to watch on a flight, when I won't have access to wifi.  Is this possible?
I think I've done it before, but I can't seem to make it work this time

Today, I couldn't watch a fully downloaded rented film on a plane using my iPod Touch.  I've opened a ticket with iTunes support.
Apparently, the device needs to be connected in order to start the viewing process.
