HT1657 Can you watch it offline

Can you watch your rented movies offline

As long as the film has been fully downloaded to the iPad's Videos app then you should be able to watch it whilst offline.

Can you watch a rented movie from iTunes in flight?

Please be aware of the movie rental's time limitation that you have 30 days from the time of rental to watch your movie, and once you start watching it, you have 24 hours to finish watching it. You may watch it as many times as you like during those 24 hours. It may be helpful to make sure the download completes successfully before you begin watching the movie.
Once the download is complete you can watch it without an Internet connection. However, an Internet connection to the iTunes Store is required to authorize playback or activate the 24 hours time-limit of movie rentals. This means, only during the starting of the movie. Once you have started playing the movie rental, internet connection is not required. You can play anywhere without internet connection.
You may need to validate the rental prior to watching so it starts the rental period timer and for that you will need an internet connection. You can probably do that by starting the rented movie while on the Airport Wifi or right before leaving home. You'll have 24 hours to watch the movie after you start it.
For more information on movie rentals, you can visit:

Note: 24 hours time limit is for United States customer only, while 48 hours for other countries.

  • HT1657 Can you watch movies on an airplane? Is the movie streaming.

Can you watch movies on an airplane? Is the movie streaming.

Movies from the iTunes Store download to your device; they do not stream. Under normal circumstances, once the movie has completely downloaded, an Internet connection should no longer be required. In a few instances, I've seen reports of people encountering problems when trying to view a rental in absence of an Internet connection, but such glitches seem to be rare.
    Regards.

Can you watch a rental in airplane mode

    Welcome to the Apple community.
From my own personal experience, I have found that when I turn off the Wi-Fi on my Wi-Fi only iPad, I am still able to play rented movies on it. I have tried this perhaps four or five times and in each case, this has been the result. I have also noted that other users have had the same experience as I.
However saying that I have noted a small number of users that have stated they are unable to view rented movies without an Internet connection. This knowledge base article from Apple, also suggests that an Internet connection is required.

can you watch rented movies from itunes on your iphone in airplane mode?

Actually, I just called AppleCare and they told me that an Internet connection was required. I tried it anyways. Once the rented movie is fully downloaded onto your iPad, it will appear in the Videos app, in the Rentals section. From there, even if you turn the airplane mode on, you should be able to press the play button and watch the movie. Note that I rented the movie in HD format and that I use the iPad 3rd generation.
    Hope this helps,
    Cheers,

  • How can i watch Movies offline on my iPad?

I have bought an Movie and i will watch it offline but i cant! Can anyone help me?
(Sorry for my Bad englisch im from Germany)

You do not need an Internet connection in order to watch a fully and completely downloaded movie on the iPad. Did the movie download completely?
It would be some much more helpful if you actually state what is happening .... Language issues not withstanding. "I can't watch it offline" tells us nothing useful.
BTW .... You're English is just fine and I know it is much better than my German would be!
And ... You are using the Videos App to watch the movie - correct? Movies do not play in iTunes on the iPad.

With the newest Airport firmware (7.6.1), it seems I should be able to do this.
Really? I need to check that out!
You should certainly be able to add content by reference to itunes from such a disk (even before the update) - so long as itunes knows the location of the file (set Preferences not to copy to local library when adding the media) it will stream it to AppleTV if the disk is available.
I hope you're right, but I'd be surprised if current Extremes can be upgarded to provide a full Home Sharing service - marvellous if they can but I'd be surprised as i've long said we need an Apple media server either based on TC or AE to do this kind of thing.

  • How many times can you watch a rented movie in iTunes?

Title describes the question. I'm thinking about either buying or renting a movie in iTunes, so question is how many times can you watch a rented movie? Just once? X times within a given timeframe? Thanks,

You have 30 days from the time of rental to watch your movie, and 24 hours (in the US) or 48 hours (elsewhere) after you've started viewing to finish it. Once the rental period expires, the movie will disappear from your iTunes library. Happy movie watching!

  • ITunes Rentals - can you watch more than once???

    Hi,
Can you watch an iTunes rental as many times as you like within the 24 hours from first watching it?
Does the same apply to rentals via AppleTV?
And can you watch it on different devices - for example, watch it on an iPod after watching it on AppleTV?
    Cheers

not sure, but i think so
Does the same apply to rentals via AppleTV?
the rental policy is the same
    Cheers
And can you watch it on different devices - for example, watch it on an iPod after watching it on AppleTV?
if you rent the movie in itunes on a pc/mac then you can move it to other devices. if you rent the movie on the appletv then i cannot be moved anywhere.
So if I buy a TV episode, a movie or a song via AppleTV, does that mean I cannot move it to my Mac for storage?
Or will is that only for rentals?

Can you watch films on the iPod 6th gen?

    Hello,
Unfortunetaly you are unable to watch any sort of movie, video, or film on the 6th Generation iPod Nano.  This is simply because the screen is too small.  The 4th, 5th, and 7th Generation can however watch videos.
    Hope this helps,
