HT1657 Does your rental time start before or after its downloaded?

C

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Your 30 days starts immediately, it will expire after 30 days even if you don't watch it.
The moment you begin to watch it (even if you start it and stop it) your expiry period is reduced to 24/48 hours (depending where you are) at that point in time.

Freialeben7 the evaluation period begins when you first launch the Adobe application you are wishing to evaluate.

  • HT1657 Does the rental download at point of sale or when you begin to watch it?

Does the rental download at time of sale or when you begin to watch?
Do I need an internet connection to watch rentals

It starts when you begin to watch it. You have 30 days in which to view the movie but the timer starts when you start playing the movie.
You do not need an internet connection to watch the movie after it has been fully downloaded.

  • When does "Display sleep" time start?

I've set my "display sleep" to anywhere from a couple minutes to over an hour. The problem is that the screen dims while I'm using the computer. Specifically, I'm usually playing online poker.
    My question is:
When my Display Sleep is set to, e.g. 15 minutes, when does that 15 minutes start?
It's obviously not starting when I click the mouse because I'm doing that a lot.
I type on the keyboard once in a while. Does that start the clock?
Okay, that's my only guess. Thanks for any help.
    Bruce

I have an interesting related problem...I am running an IMac with a Thunderbolt display second monitor.  When the iMac dims prior to going to sleep, the Thunderbolt display does not dim with it.  Only when the iMac monitor actually goes to sleep, does the Thunderbolt monitor go to sleep with it.  It makes no difference if I make the primary monitor the Thunderbolt Display or the iMac's Display, either way only the iMac dims.  I would like both of them to dim together since it helps to keep the Thunderbolt display's life longer and it saves energy.  I am at a loss as to how to make it work.  Is there a bug?  I am runniing the latest version of Lion, and I have the lastest version of the iMac, which I just purchased in  July.

  • How to use Time Machine before and after installing a new hard drive

So basically I'm buying a new hard drive for my Macbook pro and I have a lot of files on my computer that I would like to save. I have never used Time Machine before so I need help on how to set it up before AND after installing the harddrive so my files get transferred onto the new hard drive. Thanks in advance

Me, I would never use Time Machine to do this. What I'd suggest you do is get an exterior enclosure for your new drive. Then use either Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper to clone your existing drive to your new drive. Once done, verify your clone is bootable & all of your data present. Then swap drives & use your old drive for Time Machine backups(after erasing it). Then get another drive & exterior enclosure to regularly clone your new drive to.
Unless he was swapping for a lower capacity HDD or to a lower capacity SSD, then the old drive would make a lousy Time Machine disk.  However, whenever I swap out a disk I do exactly what you do.  CCC to get the ol drive onto a new one.  Test by starting up to the new (but still external drive).  Then replace the internal drive.
I usually just sell the old drive on eBay.  My Time Machine backup is always 2X the size of the internal drive, which I believe is a bit above recommendations, but works for me.  The price of large external drives is almost the same as smaller internal ones.

  • Time Machine before or after upgrade to Lion?

    Hi there,
I have always backed up all of my important data on to external Hard Drives/CD's/DVD's etc manually however to make life easier, I have now decided to start using Time Machine (should have done so a long time ago I know). I am also about to upgrade my iMac from Snow Leopard to Lion. My question is, should I perform a Time Machine back up before the upgrade or would it make sense to upgrade to Lion first & then perform the Time Machine back up.
The only advantage I can see by running Time Machine before the upgrade is in case there is an error/corruption in the upgrade process but having never used TM, I would really appreciate any advice.
    Many thanks in advance.
    Ben

Would Also Recommend that you do a Bootable Clone Backup of your current Hard Drive Before attempting any Major Upgrade...
By far the easiest way to make a Backup, is to use something like
    SuperDuper  http://www.shirt-pocket.com/
    or CCC  http://www.bombich.com/
That way, should anything untoward happen during the Upgrade, you will NOT LOSE ANYTHING.

  • Total of Time Stamps before or after a particular time

Hi, I am trying to get a running total of time stamps that are either before or after a particular time. For instance, how many times did employee A punch in after 8:00. Or, how many times did employee A punch out before 5:00
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,
    Welcome back.
Did you have something like this in mind?:
I've compared the check-in time to the Normal Start time and the check-out time to the normal quit time, using the TIMEVALUE function to strip the date from the data, leaving only the fractional day.
I use a separate table for the constants to make the process easier to maintain and more self-documenting. The time value columns in the main table can of course be hidden. I COUNTIF the late instances and the early instances in the Footer Row then do a grand total in the summary table.

  • Does the % drop the decimal before or after calculation? Student needs help

I'm a student taking a course on Java at home and I need to know if in a calculation, the % switch drops the decimal before or after calculation?

% as in mod, as in remainder? I believe this only works on int/long values, in which case, it would probably be before... but I have been known to be wrong.

  • HT1657 If I erase the movie before it has finished downloading, would you charge me the rental ?

I'm having problems downloading movies to my ipad 1. My internet speed is great, and wifi works just fine.
I have just found out that I can download them from my PC, and then tranfer them to the ipad. The only problem is that I have 2 stucked movies on ipad not downloading.
If I erase those, would Apple charge me the rental? I would like to download them directly from the PC, where it works just fine.
    Thanks

  • I rented a week ago movie, and it expired, but sense then, my iPod keeps saying, "your rental time for 'The Smurfs' has expire, and it keeps popping up. how do I fix this?

I hope to get this fixed soon.

What are you doing when the message poss up?
    maybe:
    - Apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
    - To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.

arg, this is so frustrating, as I'm considering BUYING or subscribing to photoshop, yet I cannot get it to work!
I'm having trouble with the instructions, as I cannot locate the file they are asking me to locate:
    Rename the opm.db file.
Close the Creative Cloud application if it's running.
    Navigate to the OOBE folder.
    Windows: [System drive]:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE

Rename the opm.db file to opm_old.db
    Launch Creative Cloud

Did you look at this previous discussion that I provided in my first reply?
ios 6 and macosx 10.5 on a pre intel...: Apple Support Communities
It say how to use a iTunes version 10.6.3 with OSX 10.5.8 and sync with iOS 5.
OSX 10.6.8 is a paid upgrade for $29 but requires an Intel Mac. That last OSX for a Power PC G4 or G5 is 10.5.8.

  • Server Admin- Mail queue is this before or after its been checked as spam?

Hi we have been bombarded with shed loads of junk causing the mail queue to swell and slow down considerably almost to a halt. I have now created the junkmail account and the notjunkmail accounts and now trying to teach the server to sort itself out.
However in the queue we have MADEUP [email protected] and Im deleting these manually as i cant mark these as junkmail. Will the server once taught, be able to distinguish between the real users and the made up ones?
Also is what is in the queue is this after the filtering or what will be filtered?
    Thanks Hope this makes sense.
Oh and if any one knows any great bolt on gui spam filters for mac server 10.4 id appreciate your advice... Thanks
