The photos are on the ipod. Photo sync will erase them. I need a way to extract them from the ipod, or to.extract them from the ipod backup that is who knows where on my PC.
I've been searching for an app to do that with no luck. They all seem to want a newer OS than is on my ipod yet I have the most recent update installed.

Thank you for replying. I've been looking at your posts about setting up iTunes using an external drive. A bit of background info. My old computer broke down, so I got a new one from work. I've always kept my music files on my external drive (I have around 170GB of music). I didn't follow the suggestions in the "migrate iTunes library" post because my old computer died on me. However, I've looked at your posts about lay out of the iTunes folders. Before connecting to iTunes on the new computer, I had reorganized my iTunes folder on my E: external drive, and created an iTunes folder which contains an iTunes Media subfolder. The music files are in a Music folder, which is in the iTunes Media folder. I've also put the following files in my iTunes folder: iTunes Library.itl, iTunes Library Extras.itdb, iTunes Library Genius.itdb, iTunes Music Library.xml, as well as sentinel. I then followed the advice you gave bmw99 on 2 Nov 2013 at 9.58 (sorry, can't copy the exact answer).
Just to clarify: I'd like to keep all my music media on the E: external hard drive (the computer hard drive is too small), and I'm aware i might never have my playlists back, and that all the songs in my library might be ticked. However, I don't want my library to be duplicated.
I'm at work at the moment, but will be back home in about 10 hours, so I can be more specific about folders / files names.

I recently upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.2 and Aperture 2.1.4 will no longer open. I cannot access my photos and I don't want to pay for latest version of Aperture since this application is no longer going to be supported. How can I get my pictures?
If you want just the originals, then you can go into the Aperture library (right click on it and do "show package contents"). Inside is a directory called "Masters" and you can find the original files in a bunch of subfolders.
But... you'll lose all adjustments, keywords, and other information, and just have the files as they were imported originally from the cameras.
Easiest is probably to buy Aperture and update everything, and then migrate to the Photos application down the road if that's what you want. Aperture 3.0 came out in 2010 (five years ago!) so it's not like you've upgraded in a while -
I'm trying to change the content of a tab. Can't find info anywhere! My new tab used to come up as Google search page. Now it is Bing, and I don't want Bing. I have uninstalled the program that inadvertently put it there but Bing remains. Where is the tab control that hooks me up with Tab content?

Last Resort, put the iPhone in DFU mode (Google How to do that). Connect in iTunes. Follow on-screen prompts to Restore. All Data would be lost, if not backed up earlier.
To save the photographs you may have to use third party software. Google is your friend. -

Where? Regardless, there are always going to be a handful of people having some sort of issue with any given device, but I would not therefore assume that you would be one of them. -
I change my apple ID and password. By doing that I was not able to update apps so I delete then and download them again. But keynote and pages are expensive.
Is there any suggestions to send those apps to the new apple iD in iPad and 2 MacBooks ?Afraid not Hugo... The apps purchased from one Apple ID account cannnot be transferred to another and accounts cannot be merged.

A couple oe f days ago, I started downloading the BBC's version of Sherlock. I have the entire first season completely downloaded. The second season (and unaired pilot) is a different story. If multiple people with different Apple ID's are regularly using the same computer, either authorize the computer for each of the Apple IDs or created unique logins on the computer for each user and have each sign in with their appropriate Apple ID. -

there is a fix, install imovie from the ilife 11 disc (if you have the disc) but don't open it then try to download it from the app store, it should work. there was even a way to get iwork for free using a method similiar to this

Okay, as soon as I sent this I figured out where Google search is!
The desktop, the mail, all webpages. I know there used to be a way to fix this in preferences but now cannot find it.
Also my home page will no longer open (BBC America).
I found the Safari Search option (should have been obvious!) But on other hand, do not understand why tool bar keeps disappearing - aah, just another of life's mysteries (until I figure it out!). -
Can I move the new message box out of the way?
Once I click "new message," I can't move it out of the way. I often want to see if there was another person in the CC field that I need to copy. But instead I have to either save the message as a draft or copy my message, close the window, look, then open it back up. That's not cool.
Having the same frustration, and I agree XarBiogeek's answer is helpful. (And BTW, your message drops to the background when you return to fullscreen, but it's not lost. Just exit fullscreen again.)
I'm hoping this bug gets fixed (and, no flaming me please, it IS a bug). It's not just that the New Message window freezes in placement and size; it doesn't even let you save a draft so you can do other Mail tasks. In fullscreen you have to send or discard the new message before performing any other task. (NONE of Mail's menu options function when in fullscreen with a New Message window open.)
I don't know about others here, but the only way I've been able to save a draft (before this thread helped me get out of fullscreen) was to Copy the contents of my in-progress message and discard the window, pasting my content back into a new window when done with my other Mail tasks. -

The first thing to check would be your internet download speed, you can do this at www.speedtest.net.
HD movies require a recommended speed of 6 Mbps, while SD movies require a recommended speed of 2.5 Mbps.
Netflix movies are adaptive and vary their quality according to your connection and can be as low as 0.5 Mbps.
But remember lower datarates = lower quality. -

Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
