HT1657 Movie Rentals (expiration and downloading)

I have been downloading a movie rental for two days and it still says there are 17 hours remaing but for some reason it says the rental expires in five hours.  I have not started to watch the movie since it isnt even finished downloading. Is there anything I can do since I already paid for the movie rental?

The first thing to check would be your internet download speed, you can do this at www.speedtest.net.
1080p HD movies require a recommended speed of 8 Mbps, 720p HD movies require a recommended speed of 6 Mbps, while SD movies require a recommended speed of 2.5 Mbps.
I'd be inclined to let the movie finish downloading and then you can be sure that it has expired or at least be more sure of the situation over it. If it has expired, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History on your computer.

    Dear friends,
Thank you for responding to my problem so promptly. Frankly, I did not expect to hear from people so soon! The fact is that as soon as I posted the question, I was shown a number of similar queries and managed to find the answer. I have to say it's not intuitive! I have an apple TV original version. Apparently I had the ATV on streaming and not syncing. Streaming does not allow you to stream a rental from your computer whereas you can sync and transfer the rental from the computer!
    Thanks again.

  • HT201272 I rented a movie, watched half of it. Had 27 days left until it expired. After 3 days, received a message saying the movie had expired and it appears deleted from my rental folder. Any ideas how I can get this movie back?

You would have to rent it again.
Once started the movie you have 24 hours to complete viewing.
How long do I have to watch a rented movie?
You have 30 days from the time of rental to watch your movie, and 24 hours (in the US) or 48 hours (elsewhere) after you've started viewing to finish it. Once the rental period expires, the movie will disappear from your iTunes library.

  • HT1657 How to find movie I rented and downloaded to play on my MacBook? Pro

How to find movie I rented and downloaded to play on my MacBook Pro?

If you rented it on your Mac's iTunes then it should have downloaded into the Movies part of your iTunes library - if you select that, then is there a 'rentals' tab on it with the film in it ?

  • Movie rental did not download completly

Movie rental did not download completly

A film's size should be shown on its description page in the store, and your current available space on your iPad in Settings > General > About > Available
If they don't show in the Downloads tab in the iTunes store app on your iPad (Downloads will only show if there are downloads happening), and they didn't complete downloading and are in the Videos app, then try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com
Or you can try contacting iTunes Support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • I purchased movies through iTunes and downloaded them to my PC as well as synced my entire library (including 'all films') to my iPad. However, I cannot seem to find / view the movies on my iPad unless 'Home Sharing' is on?

I purchased movies through iTunes and downloaded them to my PC as well as synced my entire library (including 'all films') to my iPad. However, I cannot seem to find / view the movies on my iPad unless 'Home Sharing' is on?

No. Homeshare let's you view your iTunes library or others on your network.
Movies should be in the video app on the home screen. If they are not there, then make sure when your iPad is plugged into iTunes on your computer...the video tab is checked to sync what you want..make sure you hit apply after. You should see the movies transferring to your iPad in the status bar on the top of iTunes.

  • Movie rental froze during download and will not finish downloading or let me reorient it?

I rented a movie on iTunes for my iPad and began watching the movie. I needed to pause to goto work, but when ingot home the movie rental would not open. I went into iTunes and it showed that it needed to download. It downloaded till the end where it says processing, but then froze there. My movie rental counted down and then ended, but it still shows as downloading in iTunes and will not let me clear it or recent the movie.

I have this same issue.  It has happened with two movies I rented.  Actually, I watched most of both movies but they are both still on my iPhone despite the 24-hour expiration.  Both movies are frozen at the "processing" step.

  • HT1657 Movie Rental Download

I rented and downloaded the movie "Twilight".  It took about 20 minutes to download.  Now that it has stopped, I can't find the movie to view.  It's not in my movie section. How do I find the downloaded movie?  It seems not to be downloaded.

There should be a rental section appear once you have a rental on the computer.

  • HT1657 Movie Rental: Download Time

I just clicked to download a movie rental, and it's going to take 10 hours. Is there a way to cancel the rental or shorten the time?

What does the error message say? (Include error message numbers if you're getting any, please.)

  • HT1657 Why can't I find my HD movie rental after I downloaded it on my iPad 3?

I can't seem to find a HD movie I recently rented and downloaded on my new iPad 3. It is not under purchased items and it is not under downloaded items. Also, when I go back to iTunes and look at the movie it says I already rented and downloaded it. I rented it last night around 10pm and couldn't find it is morning.
Does anyone know what I am doing wrong or what I need to do to find the rental?

It should be in the Videos app (iTunes on the iPad is just the iTunes store) :
If it's not in there then have you got a film age rating set in Settings > General > Restrictions that is hiding it ?

  • HT1657 What happens if my movie rental has a download error

I recently attempted to rent a movie from itunes and the error message i received was that therer was an error with the download. If I delete the download and try again, I have to re-rent it. I did and I keep getting the error becausse it still shows as an active download that I cannot download. I need to know how I can remove the download from my queue and get my money back for the failed purchase. Everytime I attempt to report a problem from the email receipt, I get redirected and get an error that it cannot connect to itunes store.

Do you get an error message number? If so, what number are you getting?

  • HT1657 Movie rental downloaded but nowhere to be found

I downloaded a movie rental but it does not appear in my downloads or library.
The movie in itunes store says it has been downloaded.
    Where is it??

    Click on LIBRARY on the top right;
    Select MOVIES from the drop down menu on the top left;
Click on RENTED on the top center.
It took me about an hour to find that out.
They should have a link from the iTunes Store, or explain what to do after we pay for the rental.

  • Movie rentals that I downloaded onto iMac with Lion to do not show up on ATV 2 in menu for computers.  Purchased movies show up just fine.  What to do or look for?

I have an imac that is running lion and an Apple TV generation 2.  I have rented a movie from itunes and it shows up on my imac in Itunes under a rental icon, and will play fine on my computer.  However, it does not show up as choice to play on my apple tv.  I have homesharing enabled and everything else works fine including purchased movies that are on my imac, but no where does it show rental movies.
What do I look for?  What do I do to play the rental movie on my apple tv 2?

    Answer to my own question:
Wait until the downloaded rental has completed its download to the imac.  This took a long time for me, since it was part of several things that I was downloading at the same time.
Finally, it showed up on my apple tv.   Interestingly, I was able to watch much of the movie on my iMac before the movie finished its download and was available to the ATV 2.

  • How can I get credit for a movie rental that never downloaded?

I tried to rent a movie from iTunes through my Apple TV.  The movie has partially downloaded, but repeatedly stops, and I have to resume the download.  Many times it goes into an "Authorizing" state, but never starts the movie.  Now my 24 hour period to watch the movie has expired.  How can I request a credit on my account?

Select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History.

I see that adding a freeze frame has been restored in v10.1.2 - I wonder what happened there? Now that the menu entry is back again I have created a freeze frame.  FCP assumes that I want to use it where it is in the timeline - freezing the action.
