HT1657 movie rentals on ipod

if I download a rental movie on my ipod, do I need to be connected to the internet to watch it?

No. Once the movie has completely downloaded, an Internet connection should no longer be necessary.

  • Transfer movie rentals to ipod

I downloaded a few movie rentals from itunes and the Apple website and all other information I found says to go to the ipod movies tab when the ipod is connected and then just click on the rental movie to transfer it. When I go to my ipod movies tab, the rentals aren't there. What can I do to transfer my movies to my ipod?

What kind of iPod do you have? I only ask because rental movies will only play on the iPod Classic (not the 5th Generation iPod), the iPod Touch, the iPod Nano with video and the iPhone. In addition for all of these you also need the latest firmware updates installed to enable them for rental playback.

  • HT1657 movie rentals disappear

I just had a bunch of movie rentals completely disapepar off of my iPod and iTunes.   Why?  and how do I get them back?

Rentals have a limited life span.
30 days from the moment of purchase as long as you don;t start watching them.
or 24 hours once you start watching them.  (in some countries its 48 hours)
    Did they perhaps expire?

  • HT1657 Movie Rental: Download Time

I just clicked to download a movie rental, and it's going to take 10 hours. Is there a way to cancel the rental or shorten the time?

What does the error message say? (Include error message numbers if you're getting any, please.)

  • HT1657 Movie rental downloaded but nowhere to be found

I downloaded a movie rental but it does not appear in my downloads or library.
The movie in itunes store says it has been downloaded.
    Where is it??

    Click on LIBRARY on the top right;
    Select MOVIES from the drop down menu on the top left;
Click on RENTED on the top center.
It took me about an hour to find that out.
They should have a link from the iTunes Store, or explain what to do after we pay for the rental.

  • HT1657 Movie Rentals (expiration and downloading)

I have been downloading a movie rental for two days and it still says there are 17 hours remaing but for some reason it says the rental expires in five hours.  I have not started to watch the movie since it isnt even finished downloading. Is there anything I can do since I already paid for the movie rental?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
The first thing to check would be your internet download speed, you can do this at www.speedtest.net.
1080p HD movies require a recommended speed of 8 Mbps, 720p HD movies require a recommended speed of 6 Mbps, while SD movies require a recommended speed of 2.5 Mbps.
I'd be inclined to let the movie finish downloading and then you can be sure that it has expired or at least be more sure of the situation over it. If it has expired, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History on your computer.

How do you transfer a downloaded rental movie from the computer to another device, Apple TV?

And if the movie was not rented via iPad but straight to MacBook?

  • HT1657 Movie Rental Download

I rented and downloaded the movie "Twilight".  It took about 20 minutes to download.  Now that it has stopped, I can't find the movie to view.  It's not in my movie section. How do I find the downloaded movie?  It seems not to be downloaded.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
There should be a rental section appear once you have a rental on the computer.

  • HT1657 Movie Rental - download and sync quesiton

I rented a movie and could not complete the download before having to leave on a trip.  When I returned, the movie wasn't available in my library on itunes.  I was billed for the rental.  How can I access the movie without being billed again.  It was only one week ago so its within the 30 day rental window.
    Thanks,

    Go here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/
and follow the instructions to report the issue to the iTunes Store. Note, however, that if you started to view the movie, the rental clock started and unless it was a very short trip has now expired in which case you'll have to buy the rental again.
    Regards.

  • HT1657 Movie Rental Problems

I have rented a movie (monsters univeristy tonight)...we started to watch, it then accidenlty hit the menu button instead of pause.  Now it will not allow us to watch it...says it is downloading and i have purchased and go to settings/itunes/rental to download.  I select but the apple icon is not downloading anything.
We have turned off apple TV etc...but no luck with getting the movie back.

    Hello hooliagoolia
If you were unable to watch your rental, then report the issue to the iTunes Store. Because of the time constraints on rentals, you are probably outside of the period to get it back.

I read that Mountain Lion slows down the system to a crawl and drains the battery.
Could be for them, who knows.
FWIW all of my systems run faster than Lion. Battery life is a tiny bit longer on the MacBooks.
Back up your system and if you don't like it, you could always revert. You'll be out all of $20.
I don't miss Lion, Snow Leopard, or any other OS X version, not a bit, and I have used every Mac OS there has ever been. If I preferred an earlier version, I'd be using it instead.

  • HT1657 Movie rental/download problems

Have rented a movie on my iPad and it will not play keeps coming up with " this format is not supported" any solutions.

I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

  • HT1657 Movie rental downloaded but won't play

I just rented a movie from iTunes. My iTunes tells me the movie is downloaded and ready to view, but the movie keeps freewing at the same point, 1 minute and 55 seconds in.
I've restarted iTunes and that hasn't helped.
I have a 1 year old HP computer running the glorious (not) Windows 8.
For all that Windows 8 is occasionally very irritating, I've never had a problem with iTunes before. However this is the first time I've used iTunes for anything other than downloading/playing music.

    Hi earlyriser10,
If you are having video playback issues in iTunes on your Windows machine, you may find some of the troubleshooting steps outlined in the following article helpful:
