Rented directly from appletv, started watching movie and halfway it kicked me out and appears as if I have never ented movie, but it does appear on my statement......where can i look for it

you have a different issue then, sounds like your appletv cannot get access to the internet.

there's no point emailing apple, as the issue is most likely internal to your network and not a fault with the appletv.
Does upgrading to snow leopard help?
that would have no affect on the appletv being able to access the internet.

Unless you rented the movies on ATV I do not think you can watch them on ATV. Where are you looking for your content? i.e. Are you looking under Music or under Computers > Music.

Got the apple tv for movie rentals and it is really great. So much better than ordering a movie through my cable box.
Apple you should have a request box so users can request a movie be put on atv. Also it would be great if you had a coming soon section so we as users know when to expect a movie to come out.
This past weekend I wanted to rent back to the future... a classic movie. Not on atv. But war games was.
Also the movie the Kite Runner just came out on DVD. I was wondering if or when it will be on ATV. it would be great if Apple provided this info.

The party line from Apple is that movies from the partner studios will be available 30 days after the DVD release.

There is nothing to download.
You first must purchase the service in iTunes and let the intial scan, match and upload process complete. Then you can activate it on your iPhone by going to Settings > Music and set the option for "iTunes Match" to ON.

Why do I constantly get loading times of more than 200 hours for a movie rental on Apple TV, but I can stream any netflix movie without issue?

It doesn't really make sense. I have changed the video settings to lower resolution, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. My first two movies with my Apple TV worked fine, but since then I am not able to get 5 minutes into a movie without it pausing and telling me it will be ready to view in 4, 24, 187, 224 hours.

I rented a movie on my Apple TV, and it still says "ready to watch in 1 min" more or less 15 min ago. What should I do?

This will be dependent on your network.
Check current connection using speedtest.net (HD streaming needs at least 6mbps, if below switch to SD via settings - iTunes)
Make sure DNS is set to automatic (settings - general - network)
If on wifi try ethernet
Reboot ATV and router

HT1657 Cannot find my movie rental

Dear community
I cannot find my rented movie. Tried signing out then signing back in (as suggested on some forums), still nothing appearing. I know the purchase went through as it's showing in my list of purchased & paid items in my itunes account. When trying to re-rent it I am again informed it is already rented. How do I retrieve the movie rental?

Thanks King, I am quite familiar with the rental process and usually the movies do land in that section.
With some patience & some desperation! I ran a full-search of my computer with the name of the movie downloaded...
and there you go..seems it landed in the wrong internal folder hence was never picked up by itunes in the 'rental' section...go figure... Had to copy paste it and sign back into itunes to finally see the movie.
So this is now solved!

Change language on iTunes movie rentals via Apple TV

We live in France and have to rent movies for our apple tvvia the French itunes, does anybody know if you can change the language on these films? like you can on bought DVDs. Many thanks

They are separate movies (as you stated).
You cannot play movies consecutively as you can with music.

Nothing is stored on Apple TV. If you've gone to settings - iTunes - search for rentals, and can't find it, log out and sign back into your account.

Movie rentals on Apple TV - SHOCKING

I recently bought a 3rd gen Apple TV and downloaded a movie to watch on Apple TV, then it disappeared. I had to start the whole process again, taking another hour and a half. Is this normal?!?! On most other services the movie is ready to watch in a matter of seconds. Why would anyone ever rent from Apple TV?

First thing to establish is your internet speed.
Try speedtest.net on a computer.
iTunes Store rentals are large. They are fixed size for a given quality (take a look in iTunes for examples when you browse movies, the sizes are listed on the left).
Apple recommend the following speeds for near instant playback:
SD               2.5Mbps
720p HD       6 Mbps
1080pHD      8 Mbps
Any slower for a given rental quality and the device has to partially download/buffer the file.
As an example I'm on aroun 4 Mbps, if I rent in SD quality it starts virtually instantly, but 720p HD may take 30 mins to buffer.
The iTunes Store content is fixed size unlike say Netflix which degrades qulaity to accomodate slower internet speeds.
The main problem with AppleTV2/3 is the lack of permanent storage - the available memory is shared between many things, and they cannot retain a rental and do other things it seems - just playing a movie trailer is enough to wipe out a rental that is 'partially downloaded' and something that frequently irritates.
