HT1657 unable to watch movie rental as it freezes and skips

I purchased snow white and the huntsman but unable to watch it because it freezes then it skips.  How do I fix this so I can watch it before the time frame expires?

I just went into my account in itunes and clicked on purchased history, clicked on report problem, then i selected "reported problem" by the movie rental.  I guess I'll see if iTunes responds to me by either fixing it, or reimbursing me the $5

you have a different issue then, sounds like your appletv cannot get access to the internet.
Does anyone know how to email apple in the uk re this problem??????
there's no point emailing apple, as the issue is most likely internal to your network and not a fault with the appletv.
Does upgrading to snow leopard help?
that would have no affect on the appletv being able to access the internet.

  • Unable to watch movies in iTunes 9 - freezes on start

I received some iTunes gift cards for Christmas, so I downloaded and installed iTunes. After redeeming a gift card, I purchased and downloaded a movie. When I click on the movie the player comes up, but then nothing else happens -- the timer never advances from zero. I have tried this on two computers running Windows XP, both Compaqs. I have tried every solution on the Support site, including uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, and still no joy. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem and been able to solve it? As of now, I'm stuck with gift certificates I can't use, plus I paid for a movie twice which has now expired. I would appreciate any help you could offer.
    Thanks,
    Randy

Is anyone else having this problem? Any ideas what to do?
    Thanks,
    Randy

  • HT1657 What are the steps in watching a rental that was purchased and downloaded to your iphone 4?

What are the steps in watching a rental that was purchased and downloaded to your iphone 4? or to watch on a home laptop?

In order to watch it, just start playing it - if you've downloaded or synced it to your iPhone then it should be in the Videos app, or if it's on your computer's iTunes then it should be in the Movies section of your library. You have 30 days to start watching it from when you rent it, and once you start watching it you then have 48 hours (24 hours in the US) to finish watching it. As long as the film has been fully downloaded downloaded then you should be able to watch it without being online.
There is a FAQ page about rentals here : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1657

  • How do i watch movie rentals i rented on my imac but view on my apple TV

How do I watch movie rentals I rented on my iMac but view on my apple TV?

How do I watch movie rentals I rented on my iMac but view on my apple TV?
Sounded like a good question to me but nobody seemed willing to respond. So... as I had never rented a movie, I decided to test the work flow on one of the $0.99 "specials" found on iTunes. For my test, I selected "Dark House." The 943.5 MB SD movie downloaded in about 8 minutes to the "Store/Downloads" area in the  iTunes app on my older PPC computer—most likely a volatile cache area as I could not locate a physical file at the Finder level. In any case, it seems that if you select the file in the "iTunes/Downloads" tab, it appears you can play the file locally on the computer (later confirmed this). However, as I wanted to take advantage of the my ethernet connection to my main HDTV, I went to that TV2 device connected to it and checked it's local menu. Sure enough, I found the movie available in a newly added "Rentals" menu that now displayed between the "Music" and "Movies" sub-menus within my own iTunes Library menu.
Be advised that starting file takes a second or two of extra time each time the you quit/restart playback as it seems the movie must be "re-authorized" for the device each time. Further, the rental can only be played on one device at a time. That is, if you want to switch from the device to another, you must close the playback sub-menu for the current device before opening the file on an alternative device. In my case, I tested switching the movie back and forth between an TV2 device and the iTunes player.
Hope that answers your question as I plan to go and watch the move now. If nothing else, this was a learning experience for me. Quality was typical for the data rate and I had no problems viewing the content on my system. I also like the fact that chapter "descriptors" were used for this content rather than the default chapter numbers I normally use.

The photos are on the ipod.  Photo sync will erase them.  I need a way to extract them from the ipod, or to.extract them from the ipod backup that is who knows where on my PC.
I've been searching for an app to do that with no luck.  They all seem to want a newer OS than is on my ipod yet I have the most recent update installed.

  • Unable to watch a rental movie

I'm trying to watch a rented movie through the iTunes store and it gives me an iTunes Store error (-42110) and will not allow me to watch the movie. Is there anything I can do?

I get the same error on my MacBook Pro 2.66 Intel Core i7.
It says to try again later, but, the error appears now for two weeks.

  • HT1657 can i watch a rental on an airplane?

im traveling to ny tomorrow soooo can i watch a rental movie with no internet in the skyyy?? thanks

Please be aware of the movie rental's time limitation that you have 30 days from the time of rental to watch your movie, and once you start watching it, you have 24 hours to finish watching it. You may watch it as many times as you like during those 24 hours. It may be helpful to make sure the download completes successfully before you begin watching the movie.
Once the download is complete you can watch it without an Internet connection. However, an Internet connection to the iTunes Store is required to authorize playback or activate the 24 hours time-limit of movie rentals. You will unable to play the movie rental if you haven't started playing and activated the rental time limit of the movie rental before you board on the airplane.
For more information on movie rentals, you can visit:
iTunes Store: Movie rental frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Note: Movie rental time limit is 24 hours only for United States customer while 48 hours for other country.

  • HT1657 Can you watch a rental in airplane mode

Can you watch a rental in airplane mode

    Welcome to the Apple community.
From my own personal experience, I have found that when I turn off the Wi-Fi on my Wi-Fi only iPad, I am still able to play rented movies on it. I have tried this perhaps four or five times and in each case, this has been the result. I have also noted that other users have had the same experience as I.
However saying that I have noted a small number of users that have stated they are unable to view rented movies without an Internet connection. This knowledge base article from Apple, also suggests that an Internet connection is required.

I rented a movie a few hours ago and never finished it.  I can't view it on my Apple TV nor on my Computer.  When I go to rent it again it says you have already rented this movie, but I can't find it anywhere.  How do I watch the remainder of the rental?

I had the same issue with my apple tv 3rd generation. I rented Sinister and selected the "rent and watch now" option. Half way through the movie I accidentally pressed the menu button. When I looked for the rented movie on my apple tv I could not find it. Not even above the movie pannel where "purchased" and "top movies" comes up on the main menu. the apple tv suggests to go to settings>downloads but I don't have that option. I did go to settings> itunes store> check rentals but that didnt work either. It took too long to even check. Thank you because this SOLUTION worked great.
SOLUTION: How to reset apple tv 3 3rd generation to view rented movies:on the apple tv remote: press and hold "menu" to go to the main menu. Select SETTINGS> GENERAL >RESET >RESET ALL SETTINGS. After the apple tv resets, input all your information again and your rented movies should be visible when you cruise above the "movies" section. THANK YOU!!
Apple needs to solve this issue because honestly it took me 3 hours and a half to watch a movie that only lasted 2 BECAUSE I wast trying to solve the issue, reseting and all. blahh.

  • Unable to watch movie on iPad because not connected to Internet.

I rented my first movie from the iTunes Store yesterday and downloaded it to my iPad 3 to watch on a flight today. But after we reached altitude and we could turn on our electronics, I was unable to watch the movie because I wasn't connected to wifi or cellular data. If the movie was downloaded, why would I have to be online to watch it?  Kind of makes the iPad useless for watching movies on flights, and since I've seen other people doing it, something must have gone wrong.  Can anyone help on this?  Thanks.

Yes, it fully downloaded. I don't have any other movies. This was my first shot at it. Thought I'd give it a try as I had a 4-hour flight today. I was in airplane mode, of course, and when I tried to start the movie I got a message saying I wasn't connected to wifi or cellular data. So I had to read the u s airways magazine five times (ugh!).

  • HT1657 can I watch a rental while disconnected from the internet

Can I download an iTunes movie rental and watch it later without an internet connection (e.g. on the plane)?

As long as the film has been fully downloaded then you should be able to watch whilst offline.

  • HT1657 Can you watch movies on an airplane? Is the movie streaming.

Can you watch movies on an airplane? Is the movie streaming.

Movies from the iTunes Store download to your device; they do not stream. Under normal circumstances, once the movie has completely downloaded, an Internet connection should no longer be required. In a few instances, I've seen reports of people encountering problems when trying to view a rental in absence of an Internet connection, but such glitches seem to be rare.
    Regards.
