HT1657 Watching HD movie on TV from macbook - Can't?

I recently rented an HD movie from iTunes, downloaded it to my laptop with the hope of hooking it up to my HD TV via a VGA cable. Won't play!? Which means I have to watch it on my laptop or buy additional hardware. Ummm. Is there a solution?

I rented a movie (The Hobbit)...but it stops loading.
The movie costs CHF 7.50.
A phone call to the support team costs CHF 46.-- !!!!!

As has been discussed on these forums thousands of times, Adobe does not make a flash player for iphone/ipad/ipod and likely never will.
You can do a forum search and find countless posts on this.

When trying to watch a movie via apple tv how can you stop it having to download each time and using up all my internet data?

I have bought movies from itunes and now they are on my computer why is it that each time I try to watch the movie it re downloads and uses up all my internet data? How do I prevent this and make it so it just plays from my stored version on my computer hard drive? Please help.

As long as the film has been fully downloaded then you should be able to watch it whilst offline.

Just downloaded a HD movie to my computer (brand new MacBook Pro, all software up to date) and can't watch it on my Apple TV (brand new last year, all software upto date). Using Airplay mirroring works fine in general but when I press play on the movie I lose the picture and get only a checkerboard pattern and sound. Another MacBook we have gives a black screen with no sound. Apple assistance is completely useless. They suggested that I download the most recent software (all upto date), reload the movie (done and no help) or read the FAQs (no help, although this board suggests that there is a fundamental compatibility issue with mirroring of HD content...!)   That's what the ATV is for!   The new MacBook uses a different connector and I can't plug it directly into the monitor input on my TV with the connector I had from the old computer.   I ordered a new connector for fifty bucks and they stupidly sent it UPS with a signature required for delivery since it is such a high value item so now I have a hassle to receive it. In any case plugging in a wire from across the room isn't a solution. Is there any way to make all of this supposedly integrated hardware and software work or has Apple completely lost their way and turned into a Microsoft clone?   Hopefully some of their market mavens will read this and steer the ship back on course. In the meantime any help you may provide would be much appreciated.

The movie is from iTunes.   You would think that a download from iTunes to a MacBook could be watched on an HDTV using Apple TV without any headaches bit this does not appear to be the case.

Yes you can play them on your phone, you will find them in the 'video' app.

Error 50 or freeze when watching a movie while downloading from itunes store since version 10.6 (windows 7 64bit).

When I am downloading a tv show and try to play it at the same time, not matter the remaining time of the download, itunes stop the download with an error after a couple of minutes. (error 50.) Somethimes, it just freeze instead. I am able to resume the download and watch again till the next stop.
I have no problem just playing or just dowloading, only when doing both. I have this problem since version 10.6 only. This affect all my new downloads since then.
My first guest would be a hard drive saturation that can't handle the load. Maybe itunes stop downloading when the hard drive is too busy. But again, never had this problem before. It it was the case, the playing should stop, not the download !
My config is iunes 10.6.040, windows 7 64 bits.

This has been happening on my Windows 7 64-bit computer as well same exact problem with the latest version of iTunes. It does look like they have some kind of bug in this new version where the downloading process just dies when it has to deal any I/O wait from file playback, really a bad bug as this is a core function of iTunes that shouldn't have gotten through the testing process. I have to say that iTunes is one of the buggiest pieces of software I have ever used in my entire life, all kinds of regressions and bugs with every update and they are on version 10.6.x ! Apple must have some poor developers in the iTunes team, hey guys put down the bong and chips and actually establish a standard continuous integration and testing process with good test coverage for iTunes! You shouldn't have regressions on such core functionalities especially with a software as mature as this, what's going on? Or is it that you've been instructed to make the software a crappy as possible for Windows so everyone goes to buy a Mac and OS X?
More bugs just off the top of my head in the latest iTunes 10.6.x:
- In the download screen when you double click to playback a movie while it is downloading, if you pause the movie the play button goes grey, you cannot start playing the paused movie again without quitting the movie and clicking to start it again from iTunes
- The next/prev chapter buttons during movie playback don't work at all anymore, they simply crash the movie, close the window and go back to iTunes
- Many times after getting the unknown error -50 or -39 because you tried to play a movie while it was downloading, when you go back to the download window to restart the download iTunes loses all the downloaded movie content it had it starts over for no apparent reason! Wonderful!
For a company that sells/rents really expensive movies and music you would expect a really high standard go into the software development process, apparently shareholders are more important than customers.

From the appropriate application (eg, Pages, TextEdit, etc) find your file(s) in iCloud (use File - Open), then highlight (you can multiple-select) the files you want to move, and drag them to your desktop or another Finder location.

Assuming home sharing is enabled, the rental will appear on your Apple TV once it has fully downloaded on your Mac.

How do I move iPhoto videos from macbook pro to macbook Air?

I have my main iphoto library on the pro but want to move things to the Air. I have been doing this through having both machines on the wireless network, sharing between them and then copying the pictures across. For some reason this won't allow me to move the videos (taken on iphone or digital camera) across. Any ideas on how I can easily get them across?

There is no way to share video. You'll need to export them from one Library and then import them to the other.
