  • DVI to S-Video & Composite plug cable needed for output to audio/TV system

I'm in need of a DVI to S-Video and Composite plug cable to replace the Monster iTV Link cable I used with my 12" Aluminum PowerBook. (http://www.monstercable.com/apple/Computer.asp) I use it to output to my audio/TV system.
Whereas the PowerBook used a mini-DVI port and had the audio output jack on the same side of the computer, the MacBook Pro uses a full size DVI port and has the audio jack on the opposite side!
I've been unable to find a cable so that I can connect up to a TV. Does anyone know where I can find one? Or perhaps a DVI to mini-DVI adapter? Or perhaps a VGA to S-Video/Composite cable and I can use the DVI to VGA adapter that came with the computer?
    This is very frustrating!

Apple's video adapters have a ROM chip inside them with EDID data contained within the ROM. That is one thing that will definitely be different between the two. The NTSC and PAL version (M9267G/A) gives priority to NTSC. This could cause problems in a PAL country. If you hooked a PAL TV up using this adapter, you might get a rolling (non-synced) screen and you'd have no good way to recover since the image on the screen would be unusable.
I don't think one adapter would have any advantage over the other in terms of PAL picture quality. It would just be a question of compatibility as outlined above. That's my best guess.

  • Problem with playing video via composite av cable on iPod classic 2009 model 160gb

Things went well, after  purchasing the new Ipod classic 160 gb i tryied to watch movies on my LED TV via Composite AV Cable.  I did it once. Everything worked correctly & I was able to see my photoes, watch movies.  Today i tryied to connect it again to the TV via av composite cable. The TV Out was switched on. But i could hear only audio. No video. I tryied all possible configs for Ipod an for tv set & no result. If i choose on my Ipod to ask me  first if i want to switch on the AV out, the Ipod shows me a message that i should connect the video accessory (but it  is already connected!). If i choose simply to switch on the TV Out without asking  me it will play either sound only on the TV, either the playback on the Ipod is ending after 20 seconds of show time.
Without AV Cable connected Ipod is working normaly in terms of video playback. Also the device is working normally with the ITunes.
Please help. Where is the problem. The AV composite cable? TV set? Or iPod itself?

    Hi Rusbug,
I am having the same issue with my iPod Classic 160gb not playing video on the TV via Composite cable as you posted in march!
did you get a solution for the issue??
desperate to know what to do next.
    thanks

  • IPhone 4: connecting to TV for the 1st time with new "Composite AV Cable" only plays sound, not video on TV. However, this new cable works fine with old iPod to play videos on TV. Suggestions?

I'm trying to connect my iPhone 4 to my TV to play videos via use of a new "Composite AV Cable" but only sound will play off TV, not video.  I've tried every yellow/red/white input on the TV but to no avail.  Any suggestions?

The iPhone 4, unlike iPod, doesn't ask you to set for PAL or NTSC.  In fact, in the SETTINGS/Video menu it only asks if you want to "Start Playing From Beginning", "Closed Captioning" and "Home Sharing".  I was surprised it had no settings like the iPod at all.

  • Apple Composite AV cable not playing video

    Hello,
I bought a Apple ORIGINAL Composite AV cable so I can watch films in my TV.
When I connect the cable to my tv I get sound but no video.
The connections are all ok and I tried making them with both TV and Iphone turned off and on. I also tried with Ntsc and PAL. Nothing seems to work.
I have a Iphone classic running on firmware 2.2.
Can anyone help me resolving this issue please? I hear other people are having the same problem. What could be the cause? Software problem?
    Thank you.

I tried all combinations imaginable. And I have a Iphone 2G
I think I figured it out both for Iphone 2G and 3G users.
The MB129ZA/B is probably on sale since a few months ago, prior to the 2.0 firmware and several stores have it still in stock like the one where I bought mine.
With the release of the 2.0,2.1 and 2.2 firmwares this cable no longer works and you need the MB129LL has stated on apple's site. (although they look exactly the same and have the same packaging, only difference is the tiny part number)
Now this isn't fare (not to use other words...) for several reasons the main one beeing that all those people who bought this EXPENSIVE cable 2 or 3 months ago now have to buy the new and still very EXPENSIVE one to watch videos on TV.
This is what my research over the Internet has resulted.
    Please post your opinions.

  • Composite AV Cable will play video and audio, but not music

I just bought an Apple Composite AV Cable to use with my iPod touch 3rd gen. It will play videos and the accompanying audio through the TV with no problems, but it will not play just music. What's the deal?

No. However, you can get a cable from the headphone jack to an audio input for your TV.
The Apple universal dock also has audio out.

  • Video streamed from YouTube using the Apple Composite AV Cable

I used to have video streamed from YouTube on my iPad to my TV using the Apple Composite AV Cable, this was in previous versions till the iOS 6 release, then YouTube no longer streams video through this cable :'(
Very annoying really to miss a feature through a software upgrade!
    Please help me.

Looks like the connector that goes into the iPad doesn't precisely connect all pins and lock the whole thing in place as well as we would think an Apple-branded product would. I discovered after four hours that if I pull my AV composite cable from the iPad without turning the iPad off (not the Apple recommended way - perhaps there's a better way, like replugging with it off?) and plugging it back in, *poof* I get video again. Now, Netflix still isn't working, but U-Tubes and photo slideshows are back with awesome-quality sound. I believe I'll get similar results when I try this on my iPhone 4.
I guess Apple TV is really the only way to get the luxury back of being able to stay focused on your entertainment and not this equipment because this was spozed to be a movie nite for me four hous ago. I just wish Apple TV had as much content as the Roku.
Anyway, just plug and re-plug, but don't be too hard on it. You might also have to turn widescreen off and back on again.

  • Flashing video with composite av cable

Having some difficulty with my composite av cable. It's been malfunctioning with all my apple devices.  I am getting sound perfect but the video is rapidly flashing and moving at an up and down pace, like it's "tracking" if you remember the old days of VHS. I have inspected the plugs and it all looks to be hooked up right. Has any one else had this problem with their cable and do you know how to fix?

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now.  About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

  • TS1409 What if I don't have the Apple Component AV Cable or Apple Composite AV Cable to connect my iPod to? Do I have to buy one to watch videos on my iPod?

  • Displaying video using "Apple Composite AV Cable" to an in car DVD player

Has anyone had any success or knows of any in car dvds/screens that will enable you to display video from an iPhone/Touch. Im assuming we would need to use something similar to Apples "Apple Composite AV Cable". To be honest I really only want to show videos from my iPhone/touch... if the screens didn't have dvds I really would care..
    Thx

Your best bet would be to find a car head unit with either a composite or component input. From there you would just use the appropriate cable from the Apple Store.

Your av composite cable isnt compatible with the ipod touch 4G, i assure you that. It will work on older devices like what you have said... But ipod touch 4G is completely a high tech device in present generation. Apple cables/cables are compatible specifically to a device. Try to buy cables conpatible with iphone 4 above and i assure you it will perfectly work with an ipod touch 4G. Iphone 3gs model is inferior to 4th generation models. So maybe the cable cant function properly on higher models because its firmware, specs., etc. is more advanced.
