Where can you set the default setting in Safari to open page as web page instead of Mobile Version on iPad running iOS6.01?

And, to make it even more fun, sometimes a website changes how it deals with Safari Mobile. A website that treated it like a desktop browser suddenly starts treating it like a cell phone. Just to mess with you. Or push an app.

In Initial View, can you set defaults for Navigation tab, Page layout, and Magnification?

Problem: In Initial View, can you set defaults for Navigation tab, Page layout, and Magnification?
Every time Acrobat scans a document, I have to go to Initial View to set Navigation tab, Page layout, and Magnification. It does not remember the settings I last used.

In InfoPath 2013 in use with SharePoint 2013, how do you set a Default Value for Person/Group Picker fields? Other field types like Text Boxes have a Default Value section in the Data tab of Properties. There doesn't appear to be any equivalent for

You can auto populate your InfoPath farm with current user Name and all other property that you have in your User profile, you have couple of options.
First you can make a secondary connection in your InfoPath form with user profile and can use the UserProfileService.asmx and call the GetUserProfileByName method. Here is the steps you can follow.

Can you set default tabs to open in the finder?

Hi, I love the new "tabs" feature in the finder. I use Bootcamp and have a partitioned drive, so on the Mac side, I like to keep one tab the "videos" folder of my windows drive open so I can easily view files without having to restart my computer and open Windows. Is there a way to set Finder to ALWAYS have this tab open and the other tab to the local "All my files"?

Not that I'm aware of.
You can set it so the Finder always opens with (or opens a new tab with) a specific location, including "All my Files."
However, you can't set Finder to automatically open with multiple tabs, each with a different default view. It's a good feature request.

Within the selection screen in the portal (eg on characteristic 0material) there is a default setting of maximum 1000 entries.
Where can I change this default value of 1000?

you can go for this work around - After executing the Query in Web, click on value help of the Variable screen. in the Selector Change the maximum values displayed. and refresh you can get the specified number of values

Where can you get copy of serial number for already purchased pages '09?

I purchased a serial number through the app store for pages '09 in december 2012. App used to work fine with no problem. Now, when I open the app, I can't save or print because it says that I need to purchase a serial number. I don't have the reciept or copy of my already purchased serial number in my email, so where can I find it or can a new one be sent to me. App store will not let me puchase app again because it says pages is installed. Please help.

You seem to have a Trial Version of iWork on your computer. You need to delete it and then re-download and install the Mac App Store version.
There is a nice script that will Uninstall everything associated with iWork 09 so that you don't have any worries about the trial or other ghosts of old iWork files. It will not affect your document, only the application. Once the trial and all other vestiges of iWork are gone, you will have no trouble re-installing from the MAS.
Get the script on this page.
I assume that you do not have other purchased iWork apps besides Pages.

Can you set default email stationery?

I want to set my custom email stationery (in Mail) as default for all my emails instead of having to manually select it from the stationery menu each time. I have found some discussions about this on the forum but they were all at least 2 years old.
Can anybody enlighten me on this please? There must be a way, surely?

Where can I find information about using the Mozilla Help web pages?

Such as tips to make searching the help pages faster like adding symbols + or - or " which some internet search systems use.
There is simply too much information offered for me ( a neurologically disabled person - specifically with working memory difficulties [dyslexia, dyspraxia/DCD] ) and all one can do is write yet another new question - which will probably be a repeat of what has been asked before in a different way and increase the already existing mass of information for the next enquirer to 'wade; through!
The consequence of not knowing where to look for information, is that I just bumble along and never become as proficient using Firefox (and the web and my computer) as might be possible if I had a really good teacher giving personal one to one guidance matching my knowledge gained so far and skill potential.

Can you convert a .pdf file to a Muse web page

We have a nicely formatted brochure in .pdf format. Instead of trying to painstakingly recreate it in Muse, or just put a boring hyperlink to the .pdf, I'd like to be able to import that .pdf directly as it's own page in Muse. Is there any way to do this?

PDFs are appearance-centric. even if there were a way to import it in Muse there is no guarantee that even the most complicated CSS formatting could retain your formatting. That said I see zero to none requirement for such a feature, as most people will have access to the editable source files and adapting static content to the needs of the web is just as much part of the workflow as making it look nice.

Can you set a home page or will the safari button always take you to the last web site you were on?

You cannot set a Home Page in Safari but if you save your favorite bookmark to the home screen, you can use that to open the browser on iPhone.
To do this:
Open Safari and open the page you want for the "Home Page".
Tap the "+" at the bottom of the screen and select "Save to Home Screen"
You can then name it whatever you wish and tap Save.
This will create an icon on the home screen that you can tap on to always open Safari to that page.

Tiger's new Automator app could also be used but its feature set is rather basic. Newer actions are available for download from the Mac OSX Downloads page.

I was wondering if something like this exists for OS X Lion or greater: you can set a default application to open a type of file, say Safari for all .html files, but can you set a second default application for a file?
I usually open files using command + o or command + down arrow from the Finder and I've often thought how good it would be to hit an alternate keyboard shortcut to open the selected file in a secondary default application.
For example, if I'm making a web page and have the .html selected in the finder I can hit command + o (or command + down arrow) to open it in Safari and if the file isn't open in my editor and is selected in the Finder I can hit, say command + option + o (or command + option + down arrow) to open the .html file in my editor.
Does anyone know if this can be achieved in OS X Lion or greater?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

If anyone's interested in a partial solution, I've rigged up the following.
I ended up using an Automator action coupled with Spark to capture a keyboard key combination. Spark: http://www.shadowlab.org/Software/spark
I've used Spark before with good results, and although it's from 2008 it still works on Lion.
I created an Automator action that does two things:
gets the selected Finder items
opens finder items in the text editor I'm using.
I then saved the workflow as an application so that Spark could run it.
I've set up a keyboard shortcut that Spark picks up and calls my Automator workflow. It all seems to work nicely.
So, I've created a specific "open selected file with <text editor>" keyboard shortcut that should do for the time being.

Try deleting the .plist.
Quit the application.
In Finder hold down the option/alt key while selecting the Go menu item. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer ones.
If you want to make your user library permanently visible, run the below command in Applications/Terminal.
chflags nohidden ~/Library/
You will need to do that after any updates.
