HT1688 I have a damaged I-Phone and I need the contents of my calendar off of it. I did not have Mobile me at the time.  Can I swap out the sim card from the broken phone to a new phone and recover this calendar?

I have an older I-Phone (3G) that for some reason the body of the phone has split in two.  This phone was a business phone and it had a lot of important information on it. I have a second phone that is also a 3G.  On the broken phone there is a lot of important information that I need in my calendar. Im not worried about anything else but the calendar.  I didn't have the Mobile Me account at that time or I would be having this problem. Does anybody know if I can ust switch out the sim cards. I just need to recover the old calendar, so im hoping that the calendar will transfer when I switch the sim card into the good 3G. If that doesn't work does anybody know of anyway that I can retrieve this information off of this phone?

Nothing is stored on the sim card on an iPhone.  If you backed up to your computer the backup will contain your calendar events.  Otherwise, if your phone isn't functioning there is no way to back up or extract your calendar at this point.

    Hello SeamusFitz,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
In order to get your messages to show up on your other phone, you would need to have a backup of the phone with the messages, and then restore the new phone from that backup.
According to article iTunes: About iOS backups found here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4946 iTunes will backup your Messages.
iTunes will back up the following information
Messages (iMessage and carrier SMS or MMS pictures and videos).

  • Can I use the SIM card from an Iphone 4s in a new Iphone 5?

Can I use the SIM card from an Iphone 4s in a new Iphone 5?

Yes you can install your current sim into the mini iPad. You have to cut the current sim to the nano sim. There are cutter available on eBay and amazon. You go to your local best-buy. They have it for sale. Just be carefully to align properly or else you will end damaging your current sim. Any little damage to the current sim will render it unusable.

  • Can I add a 3g sim card to the ipad?

    Can I add a 3g Wifi card to a wifi-enabled iPad?

If you have a wifi-only iPad then you can't add a micro-sim card to the actual iPad - it doesn't have a sim slot or the hardware within it to use it. You might be able to get a mifi device, or use an iPhone as a personal hotspot for the iPad.

  • HT201269 hi, i got the iphone 5s today and i tryed switching my sim card from my iphone 4s to my iphone 5s and my sim card wouldnt fit

Hi, I just received the iphone 5s and Im trying to put the sim card from my 4s and it wont fit.......What do I have to do?

If the new iphone did not cope with a SIM, then you have to get a SIM card from your carrier for your iphone.

  • Can I use my old SIM card from iPhone 3gs to iPhone 6 ?

I have a iPhone 3gs for over 3 years . I Was wondering if I could reuse my SIM card from 3gs to the iPhone 6 ? Since the iPhone 6 cost $199 I wanted to know if it's possible to use an old SIM card and put it in the new phone

    No.
The SIM cards are different sizes.
Just get a new one from your carrier, if the iphone does not already have one.

  • Can I swap out Sim cards from my iPhone 4 to my new 4S?

I was hoping I could so I don't have to wait for AT&T to activate my 4S.  I've been trying for almost 4 hours with no luck.  I don't see why I can't but I'm not an expert at all.  Seems silly to waste my current sim card when it works perfectly fine.

Your SIM card is your identity on your carrier's network.
It allows them to track you, the bandwith your voice and data xfers worth, and to bill you accordingly.
Therefore, you cannot just swap the card as it has to be activated by your carrier on his network.

    Hello,
I understand that iTunes gift cards are country specific. I have a friend who lives in the UK and I want to buy him a gift card he can use. Is there anyway I can do that from the US?
    There has to be !
    Thanks !

    Yes you can, Paul.
You order it from the UK Online Apple Store and they will ship it to your friend.

  • What happens to iMessage if I swap out my SIM card?

My wife and I are traveling to Europe this fall and plan to bring our iPhone 5c's with us. Our plan is to use local (O2, Czech Republic) SIM cards for phone and internet service, swapping in the O2 SIM when we arrive and replacing the VZW SIM when we return to the US. (We may also sign up for a VZW international plan at the same time, just in case we have problems with the O2 service.)
VZW tech support has assured me (though I will re-check before the trip) that our phones are already unlocked and will accept activation of another SIM card. Of course our phone numbers will change, but I expect our internet services, via O2 data plan or (mostly) Wi-fi, to go on like nothing happened. I understand SMS text messages will queue up in our absence. However iMessage operates over the internet, not SMS service. What happens to iMessages destined for our VZW number while the O2 SIM is in the phone? What about iMessages sent to the new number on the O2 SIM? And what happens when we return the VZW SIM to the phone? I can imagine confusion on Apple's end with the multiple services. Thanks for any guidance!

I'm going to call the question answered. I hadn't changed my iMessage setup since getting the phone at the Verizon store. I had to go through the process of registering my Apple ID with iMessage; dunno why that wasn't already done. But once that is done, iMessage should follow the phone just as wushu2004 and rcschnoor said. Putting the VZW SIM back in the phone returns it to its previous status -- though it may take several minutes for iMessage to change the phone number to the current SIM, don't ask me why.
I have to say I still have a difficult time understanding exactly what is going on with iMessage, though I think I finally understand that when iMessage says it's using [email protected], it's referring to my Apple ID (which is the same as my email address) and not my actual email service.
    Thanks, all, for your help!

  • Lately, I'm unable to paste any image into the body of any email I compose. I did not have this issue before today. Please help.

Could this issue with not being able to copy and paste any image within the email body, be virus or malware related?
Though I don't think I have any virus problems. Also I have all the latest updates for Thunderbird.
I read some suggestions posted elsewhere and tried those but none of these worked :
    DID NOT WORK #1 :
(If your Thunderbird email message is displaying strange-looking code (tags) after each link, images are missing (it looks like images have been stripped out), and the font appears different, or bold, then you’ve most likely changed the message body view inadvertently. To switch it back, simply:
Browse to View -> Message Body As -> and select Original HTML.)
    DID NOT WORK #2 :
Email message looks fine, but doesn’t contain images
If the rest of your Thunderbird email message looks okay, but is missing images, or they appear to have been stripped out, it’s very possible that you’ve changed a setting that won’t let attachments (ie. pictures) appear inline (within the message body). To change this back, simply:
Browse to View -> and select Display Attachments Inline. )
    DID NOT WORK #3 :
If you made the above changes to your Thunderbird settings and images still aren’t appearing in some of your messages, it may be that Thunderbird is blocking them because it thinks they are spam. To adjust your privacy settings and prevent the images from being stripped out, or not displaying at all (ie. being blocked), simply:
Click on the button to the above right of the email message asking you whether you would like to load images.
If the email message is from a trusted sender, you can click the link above the message specifying you would always like to load images in messages from this particular sender.
    DID NOT WORK #4 :
If you’re still having troubles, or your changes aren’t being saved (ie. next time you open Thunderbird the images won’t display again) you can directly specify the default format Thunderbird should display email messages as in the config editor. To access it, simply:
Browse to Tools -> Options -> Advanced tab -> Config Editor
Search for mail.default_html_action and make sure it is set to 3 (allow original HTML). If you would like messages to open as text only (more secure, but you won’t see images, change the setting to 1).
Could you please suggest what possibly has caused this issue? Thank you for your time.

    Thank you for your response.
After searching around for any pointers to my problem, the above fixes I listed were the things that came closest to maybe addressing the issue, that I was able to locate. But since none worked, and as you pointed out, it is now clear they will only help towards viewing sent images rather than helping with inserting any images in the body of the email, which is the problem I suddenly started facing today.
Coming to your suggestion, on opening the Write window, the Insert choice on the menu bar is indeed available. And I had already tried using that, by clicking on the '''Insert ----> Image''' option listed. That opens
up the "Image Properties" box but using that has not resolved the matter either. It results in an image box getting inserted within the email but without the actual image itself.
Plus, normally I am able to use the '''Paste''' function in the Edit menu or through right-click, but today the (Cut/Copy/Paste) functions have gone inactive, thereby disallowing me to use that to place an image within the email.
