HT1688 I'm having trouble importing the contacts from my computer to my phone. HELP PLEASE!
Here's the scoop: I had about 4.5 GB worth of "other" on my phone and couldn't seem to get rid of it/find out what it was. After restoring my phone to factory settings with the backup, it was still there. I decided it had to be in the backup somewhere and just restored it again as a new phone. PRESTO! All that "other" disappeared. Now I can't seem to extract the contacts on my computer and put them in my phone (I own a MacBook Pro, OS X 10.8.2). Is there a solution? Or am I stuck punching this ish in the old fashioned way?
it lets you create a csv file or vcard and you can email it to yourself and then open the file on your phone and it asks you if you want to add the contacts to the phone. This kind of the same as when you go to a contact on your phone and you tap on share contact and email or message that contact to another iphone and it is opened on the other phone and recipient has the choice of adding the contact

I have an older Sony digital camcorder, and I am having trouble importing the movie files. Sometimes I get the audio in iTunes without the picture. I have a Pinnacle Dazzle interface. What am I doing wrong. Is there a way to skip the dazzle device?
Chances are the pinnacle is producing .avi files or MPEFG1/2 streams - iTunes may know how to decode the audio but not the video. Download Handbrake and try running the Pinnacle files through it and adding to iTunes - use Universal format unless you have a specific device in mind.
Keep copies of the originals.
Another option might be to try to install Perian. Can't remember if the Apple MPEG2 plugin allows MPEG2 to be played in iTunes.

I HAVE 2 HARD DRIVES ON MY LAPTOP. MY PHOTOS ARE ON 1 HARD DRIVE & MY ITUNES IS ON ANOTHER HARD DRIVE. I AM HAVING TROUBLE SYNCING THE PHOTOS FROM THE SEPERATE HARD DRIVE ONTO MY IPOD TOUCH. ANY HELP?
There is a whole lot of bad going on there.
There are problems both drive errors and USB errors. I don't believe it.
I have a hunch the drive is starving for power.
USB devices are supposed to function all the way down to 4.25V. Not all do.
USB ports are supposed to be able to deliver 4.25V at the end of the cable at 500mA. Not all do.
USB 2.0 devices are not supposed to draw more than 100mA unless they negotiate for more. Some violate that.
USB 2.0 devices are never supposed to draw more than 500mA. Some violate that. Especially disk drives.
My guess is that your drive is drawing excess current and the voltage drop through the port and cable are dropping you below 4.25; or at least below the voltage that your drive goes "Tango Uniform"[1]. Does your drive have the option for external power? If so try it. Following up on wtx's comment; USB 3.0 is capable of delivering more power. Also, some drives have used a cable that violates just about every aspect of the USB specification: A "Y" cable that plugs into two host ports to provide more power to the guest. I despise this solution with every fiber of my electrical engineering existence; never-the-less, you might try one.

My boyfriend is borrowing my computer and somehow managed to sync the contacts on my computer to his phone. Is there a way to undo?
Welcome to the Apple Community mek_he01.
That rather depends on how he has achieved that. Do you happen to know who's Apple ID is currently being used on the computer and on his phone. -
Having trouble importing select pictures from a cd to my iphoto library
I am having trouble importing (and viewing) my vacation photos from a cd to my iphoto library. Some of the photos I can view in finder, but when i click on the rest, I get a message that says "Item xxxx.jpg is used by mac os x and cannot be opened". When I tried to import the photos to my library... the ones I could view imported no problem, the ones I couldn't view will not import and I get a message saying "unreadable files: the following files could not be imported (they may be an unrecognized file type or the files may not contain valid data)". I am just sick that I cannot find these photos!!! =( especially since I had them on iphoto before I cleaned out my computer (so I've had them in my library before). Any ideas? I am in desperate need of help! =(
P.S. When I try to move the pictures to my desktop, I get a notice that says, "you may need to enter the name and pasword for the administrator on this computer to change the item named xxxx.jpg"... when I click continue, another message pops up and says, "the item xxx.jpg contains one or more busy items that cannot be changed"Welcome to the Apple Discussions. What do you have set in the System/CDs and DVDs preferences to do when a disk is inserted? If the option is not set to the Finder do so and see if that will make any difference.
Otherwise boot into Safe Mode and see if you can copy the files from the CD to a folder on the Desktop. Boot back into your normal account and see if you can import. Or import while still in the Safe Mode.
Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

Hey danzante,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
This article explains exactly what needs to happen to import from an ihone.

HT1338 I'm having trouble updating the ipad from the iOS 7.0.6
I'm having trouble with updating my ipad from the iOS 7.0.6
If you meant "upgrading to" and not "upgrading from", then I find the best way is to connect the device to power, have a good wifi connection, and use the general tab, software update on the device itself. This will download a delta update that is much smaller in size than using iTunes to do the update.
For example, when I updated to 7.0.6 it was ~50MB download. I grew tired to downloading 1GB via the iTunes method. -

The service IP is supposed to have been populated with an address from the dhcp pool. I am also unable to connect to it by doing a session switch 1 slot 4 processor 1. I get the following upon attempting to do so:
HO2NET0001##session switch 1 slot 4 proc 1
The default escape character is Ctrl-^, then x. You can also type 'exit' at the remote prompt to end the session Trying 0.0.0.0 ...
Any assistance or ideas offered will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, wired client is working & able to get IP from vlan 300 DHCP pool.

I have tried to install the free trial of Illustrator twice and keep getting a message that instalation is complete but some components were not able to install. I uninstalled everything including CC and started over and the same thing happened. Any suggestions??
I believe it is worth trying that, La La.

Having trouble accessing the print from Facebook on my Photosmart 7510..
When I first set up my 7510, I had setup the Print from Facebook option. A few days later I tried to use the feature and was prompted to enter the code again on facebook.com/device. When I try to do this, Facebook does not accept the code. I just resets the form and asks for the code again, and the printer isn't able to print from it. Is there anything I can do to reset this get it to work?
Hi Rob.
Another option is to print your Facebook photos with HP Photo Creations. Select Prints, then Add Photos from Online Library. Here's a quick walkthrough. The images are from an older version of the software, but the idea is the same:

I just got a new macbook and before i had to sync all my photos from my old mac onto a bunch of flash drives and most are on my phone. Ive successfully imported the flash drives and the photos on my camera roll to my new macbook iPhoto but not the other 1,000+. My computer isn't recognizing it maybe because its in 'mac events'. Does anyone know what to do? Please help it would be greatly appreciated especially since i don't have much room left on my iphone anymore. thank you.
You'll need third party software to get the images not on your camera roll. iExplorer is one such app, but there are others. Search on MacUpdate

I am having troubles getting the symbols from my keyboard
Hello
I have a HP Omni 100 PC, and I cannot get the symbols (puntations, question mark, accents etc) from my keyboard, I have tried to reconfigure the keyboard, changed the language and everything but nothing seems to work, when I am writing emails, documents or posting in internet, my text goes without punctations symbols, and beside of being annoying it is very confusing for the readers as they dont have a clue if I am making questions or a statement, could you help me with this issue (imagine a question mark here)

Which Windows operating system am I running?
Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit?

I have bought the download and backup disk online to put windows on my computer, but it keeps saying please put disk in and wait a few seconds for your computer to open it. There has to be away to put this on my computer from a download....
Yes I have LION, I do not have a DVD burner but I was told i can do this via Flash Drive. I have it formatted correctly but it still will not open it. I guess i am just going to have to return this Windows b/c i cant figure it out. I am downloading it one more time and then saving it to my flash drive. This time I am downloading the 64 bit ISO. Think that may help?
