HT1688 iPhone 5S, Settings Cellular Use Cellular Data For Apps - Not Updating
I have iPhone 5S iOS 7.0.4 with AT&T Contractual Plan.
When I change any settings in Settings > Cellular > Use Cellular Data For to disable or enable apps to use cellular data. And, if I exit and enter again it shows the old settings.
Also Call Time > Current Period is not updating.
This is happening for last one week. I have also noticed heavy cellular data usage for last one week.
I have reset the phone as a new phone this it is solved, but if I restore from my backup, then the problem is returning again. Even I have deleted some apps, but it doesnot help.
Please help me to solve this.
Call AT&T - it seems they are forcing their own settings on you.

I have a iphone I do not use as a phone anymore. I use the apps and the music on it though. I downloaded itunes and I am trying to update the phone so I can purchase music and apps for it. When I plug it to the computer it starts syncing and runs a good 20 minutes and then I get an error saying it cannot update and it takes me to a update repair page that does nothing to help. Can someone help me on what to do? I have my own itunes account, I have wi-fi, I have all the songs on my phone I purchased but I cant get it to sync with itunes at all. I can do nothing. Is this usual? Can I do something so I can still use the phone as a Ipod putting new stuff on it or am I stuck with all the old stuff and I can never add anything on it? HELP
To be exact the error says the iphone could not be restored, an unknown error occured (-1). What is that?

Use Mobile Data For: Settings - Why does Settings need a cellular data connection?

Just curious, why does the iPhone need this turned on? Why does the settings app need a cellular mobile data connection?
If you turn it off, you're pestered to turn it on every time you go into settings?Because, that's the way Siri works...it needs an Internet connection...requests are sent to Apple's servers. No Internet, no Siri.

iOS 8.2 on iPhone 5c, goto settings, cellular, use cellular data for: all my apps under "use cellular data for" are greyed out. I've restart and hard reset. Looked thru all settings. Can someone help??
Did you try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Appel logo comes back again? You will not lose data by resetting.
If this does not work, did you try to switch off Cellular Data, restart the phone and switch it back on again? -
Under Settings Cellular "use cellular data for" apps are missing from Iphone 4
After updating to IOS 7, my wife's iPhone 4 under the "use cellular data for" only has Passbook and System Services. My son's iphone 4 and my iPhone 4s DO HAVE this option avl. and show all our Apps.
Any ideas out there?

I got the new iPhone 5C. In my cellular settings, under "Use cellular data for", it only show passbook and facetime. How can I add other apps? Also, my carrier is AT&T

You should be able to see two different tabs when setting up the email if you go to Other > Add Mail Account. Once you enter in the email address and password, you should be at the next screen to provide more details about the email as far as incoming and outgoing servers and at the top there will be a blue section to add it in as a POP or IMAP email account. iPhone do not do automatic update. You have to manually trigger the updates.
If your Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Automatic Downloads > Music, Apps, Books are ON then when you purchase any new content/item with any devices/computer iTunes, it will automatically download. Switch it OFF if you do not want that to happen. -
iTunes is saying that I have over 4.78 GB under the category of "other", making it so my iPhone 4 can't add any data (music, apps, pictures, etc.). I'm currently using only 1.3 GB of storage on my iPhone, and the rest is "other". How do I fix this?
Not if you sync your contact to itunes using the program provide i.e outlook..etc

I have read that usb hubs usually have only 1 port at a high enough watts = volts x amps iPads need 10watt = 5v x 2 amps so when you use more devices it may share the power so I would buy a usb charger with 2+ amp ports if you want to just charge your devices the computer hub are not designed for that just communication

In using it, I found out other's have had this issue and it likely means you have a 3G iPad? If you do, go into settings and turn off cellular data, then try to update again and you should be OK........ -
IPhone overheating, sending massive amounts of data after iOS 5 update
After finally upgrading to iOS5 on my iPhone 4 yesterday, I unplugged it and went to work today. In 2 hours with almost no usage battery was down to 32%, phone was very hot, and checking my data usage it was up to nearly 1GB this morning. I closed all apps except mail, phone and did a reboot. Now, in the last hour it's used another 90MB. What in the world could the phone be doing to cause this?
There's multiple threads in here already that cover this, but here's my take:
My wife's 4S has this issue as well (200MB plan) and it used 130MB in one night at 12am while we were asleep. Interestingly my 4S does not have this extrenous 3G data usage. So I turned off 2 settings with hers that will hopefully help, but will only know as time passes.
1. Settings > iCloud > Documents & Data > Use Cellular > OFF
2. Settings > General > About > Diagnostics & Usage > Don't Send
I think #1 will definitely have an impact to cellular usage, I doubt #2 will do much.
Also, if you're really paranoid you can turn off photo stream and iCloud backup however, both of those say it will only use Wifi data for each but who knows...

can't update apps on my iPhone 4s cos it says my daughter's Apple ID password is required: even though I'm signed in via my Apple ID in settings (she uses my Mac for her itunes and didn't sign out, i synced my phone and it's been like this ever since). And there's no option of signing her out, it seems? GRRRRR!

Anything Downloaded with a Particular Apple ID is tied to that Apple ID and Cannot be Merged or Transferred to a Different Apple ID

You can use the same Apple ID for both phones, you would then be able to use the purchased Apps/Content on both phones without having to pay again.
