HT1688 Should I speak to Apple or my cable provider in regards to connecting my iPhone to my router.

Had to erase my iPhone (4s) at the Apple store yesterday and am now restoring things. I forget how I connnected to our router. I have the password for it but not able to put it anywhere. I'm thinking when I did way back I had to call my cable company that handles our computer, TV and land line. Anybody know?

On iPhone tap Settings App>Wi-Fi, near top>ON>tap your router name and enter your Password.

Make sure that you allow pages to choose their colors and that you haven't enabled High Contrast in the Accessibility settings.

My Apple AV composite cable no longer works with my 3G iPhone. Anyone else?

I purchased an Apple composite AV cable from my local Apple store shortly after I bought my 3G iPhone.
It worked then.
I haven't used it much, but this morning I tried it again.
This time I got a message something like this:
"This accessory was not made to work with the iPhone. Would you like to turn on Airplane mode to reduce interference?"
It works with my older 3rd generation iPod.
This isn't an after-market cable. I bought it (yes, $50) at an Apple store because I knew Apple had shut out non-Apple connectors with the new generation devices.
I've seen various messages about failures of the AV cables after the 2.1 update. Most refer to aftermarket cables, or Apple cables purchased indirectly (may be counterfeit).
Has anyone else run into this?
I suppose I'll have to go back to the Apple Store with the cable and receipt and see what they can do about it.

It was the cable connector seating.
It looked fully attached, but on removal and FIRM attachment it worked.
If the AV iPod connector is not fully seated you get this error. The old iPod connector used a locking connection with a positive click, the AV cable uses a lockless connector that differs from the newer lockless iPhone connector. I suspect the AV cable connector was a transitional design that may have more connectivity issues.

i have just updated my iphone 4 16gb to an iphone 5 16gb
The iphone 4 had horrific problems, for example: Cutting out on calls, it going silent, me not being able to hear the person i was speaking to and them being able to hear me, and then visa vera.. also the main button at the bottom started to break.. my text messages weren't sending and then when they did they would send several of the same one.. also with mixed messages in them.. some of the texts had been form ages ago and had been deleted anyway and bits of them would re appear in the middle of the text, but only show to the person recieveing the text.
I thought all of this might have been some water damage as i had nearly had it for 2 years... However on Tuesday.. ( 29th Jan) i recieved my new upgrade of the iphone 5.. i was so excited, but then today.. 2 days after recieving it, its starting to do EXACTLY the same things my old phone did... cutting me off, going quiet on the phone, not sending texts, then sending several ones... sending mixed texts. Safe to say i am fuming!!! i am with vodafone and rang them today asking why?! they said it couldnt be my handset as its a new one, couldnt be the sim because thats new too so it must be the area signal.. so she checked for me.. came back to me and said that the signal in my area is perfectly fine....?!?!?! that makes it even worse!!! so i have asked to return it....!! i was going to go with a different provider thinking that it was vodafone??but after looking on here it seems like its apple? i am very disappointed as i love everything else about the phone, but its impossible to have a phone like this! especially when i use it for work too!

My wife is having the same problems as a reciever. She works in a school as a teaching assistant and her teacher sends messages that are mixed with previous texts from ages ago.
Can anyone shed some light on this problem or is it only her and this poster?

My Original Apple ID which I'm using since I bought my IPhone is not working for activation, what should I do?

I have unlocked iPhone 4S which I bought in Jan 2011 from store in Saudi Arabia... Since I bought my iPhone and it is linked to my Apple ID... Lately I moved from my Country Egypt to Slovakia so I didn't take my Egyptian Vodafone SIM Card with me as I will buy a Slovakian one...
Days ago before buying a new SIM Card, iTunes found new update IOS 7.0.4 and after installing the update my iPhone restarted and started to take me through activation... The activation needed a SIM Card so I bought Telefonica O2 SIM Card and I tried to continue the activation... At the step of writing my Apple ID and my Passowrd, I wrote them right but an error window appeard saying that incorrect Apple ID and my Apple ID cannot be used to unlock this iPhone...
I checked my Apple ID on iTunes and iCloud to make sure that my password and my account are ok and it was working... I thought it might be a problem with the SIM Card so I went to O2 customer service and they said that the problem is not with the SIM Card as the SIM Card is working so they can not do anything for me... On the window of activation logging in there is link "activation help" and by clicking it after typing my Apple ID and password, a window appears saying that my iPhone could not be activated because activation server cannot be reached and asking me to try activating on iTunes or trying again later and if this problem persists I should contact Apple support...
I tried activating on iTunes and the same message appeared that my Apple ID cannot be used to unlock this iPhone and I tried activating many times for two days on my iPhone and iTunes and nothing is working... I also tried to call Apple service number in Slovakia (0800004640) and they said for iPhone I should contact my carrier network which I contacted already and they didn't help at all as I mentioned before... In the end of my tries I went to iCloud finder to find my iPhone on my account and I didnt find it there because I never set up iCloud on my iPhone before...
I don't know really what to do as I'm the first and the only owner and my Apple ID is the only linked to this iPhone, even on the window of activation logging in it is written there that this iPhone is currently linked to an Apple ID (b*****@yahoo.com) which is true ... This iPhone is unlocked one and it was working in Saudi Arabia and Egypt with various SIM Cards... In the end thanks for reading and I hope to find a solution for this problem...

My iPhone was connected to a wifi internet when I tried to activate it and when I tried activation by iTunes I was using my laptop with windows 7 which was connected to internet by cable.
I updated my iPhone to IOS 7 when I was in Egypt and I had no problems with updating it and I can't remember if finding my iPhone option was on or off before updating to IOS 7 and as i understood from searching internet that to use iCloud Finder on web from computer to find my iPhone it should be set up already on my iPhone and I didn't set up iCloud on my iPhone before and my Apple ID wasn't verified for iCloud till today, I verfied it by logging in iCloud from a friend iPad.
I was considering already the option that my iPhone has been hacked but if this happened so how I would unlock my iPhone and activate it to back to work? who would help me with that? I'm so tired of being without my phone for almost 4 days and I started to consider not having any Apple product anymore... I think that this way to secure the consumer has a lot of conflicts...

In which country should I use my Apple ID?

I have bought an used iPhone almost 2 weeks ago and I try to know my device better,
so I would like to ask some questions
Questions are about country and location associated with my Apple ID, App Store, iTunes and apps overall.
To let you begin solve my problem, first I need to say something:
1. I have created Apple ID without credit card information (using iTunes, 'none' in the credit cards information)
2. I am from Poland and I have created my Apple ID in Poland (also I've written that I am from Poland while I was creating my Apple ID)
3. I don't know which country I should associate my Apple ID with
3. I have recently downloaded many, many apps for my iPhone 4s (using Apple ID associated with Poland country)
4. I have done many photos, video recordings, messages etc.
5. I am (currently) using Polish App Store and Polish iTunes Store.
Here's my problem to solve and my questions to answer:
1. What disadvantages I have, if I am using Polish iTunes & App Store? (and not for example USA?)
2. I discovered iTunes Radio is only available in USA (so I have changed Apple ID's country information to United States )
     Why it isn't in any other country?
3. Once I have downloaded many apps on my iPhone (with Apple ID's country information - Poland) and updated some apps,
     after changing country of Apple ID I have noticed, that there aren't any apps in 'Purchased' section, nor in 'Not on this phone' section.
     There were only apps which I have downloaded using USA Apple ID information.
     The same thing goes with iTunes and downloaded songs in 'Songs' section. (not in Music. in iTunes Store)
     Why it looks like that?
4. Does Wish List on iTunes Store/App Store changes, when I change country of my Apple ID?
5. Are sections in the App Store such as 'Editors' Choice', 'App of the Week', 'Top Charts' 'Single of the Week', 'Going to the Cinema'
    are different in every country's App/iTunes Store?
6. Which apps are only available in United States and not in other countries/Poland?
     I have found, that there aren't Netflix, Paper - stories from Facebook, Facebook Camera, Google Music and many other apps in the Polish App Store.
7. Are there any songs, albums, movies not available in Polish App Store & iTunes Store?
And the last question! The most important one!
Should I stick with poor Polish App Store and Polish iTunes Store or change my Apple ID country to United States? There are definitely more apps in the USA and not available in Poland, the same goes with iTunes Store. The prices are lower than in the Polish App/iTunes Store, where you have to pay in Euro, not even in złoty. If I change my Apple ID to USA I would buy USA gift cards and buy games, songs etc. I will be able to have iTunes Radio, free single of the week etc. Should I change my Apple ID country information? If so, will I have to delete all my apps from iPhone and download them again, being in the United States App Store (to find all my apps in 'Purchased' and 'Not on this iPhone' sections? They really annoy me, iwhen they are not there!)
Will all my games datas be destroyed? Will I be able to play with my friends on the Game Center? What if someday I will have to change my Apple ID country, because I have moved to another? (maybe from Poland)? Will there be any other disadvantages of using USA iTunes/App Store being in Poland?
Should I change my Apple ID country information to United States?

I have another problem.
I have deleted all apps from my iPhone 4s and then I have changed my
Apple ID's country information from Poland to United States.
After that, I have downloaded all deleted apps.
But only few are in 'Purchased' section on iPhone!
I guess only these, I have downloaded using USA App Store, not Polish.
I am getting frustrated, because I have got too many problems with iOS

This is either a Phone issue or an Electrical issue in your home.! when charging Do you always use the same electrical outlet? or did you try others..
You will know or should know if there are any issues with your other Electronics.. that you Plug into it..
If it is the s5 which it sounds like it could be then the Local Verizon store at there Discretion will determined if replacement is needed you have a 1 year Manufactures Warranty that covers for things like what your Describing I would take it too your local store see if they'll get you a Replacement or you may have to go through Samsung..

No! All Apple needs is your actual phone. Do not send the box or anything else as they will throw it away and you won't get anything back except for a phone! Do not send the sim card either and make sure you backed it up!

Should I Create Another Apple Account For Game Center?

I have heard of issues where a person is doing software development work and they end up in a Game Center Sandbox instead of the real Game Center.
I am doing iOS software development work for both iPhone and iPad. In order to proactively avoid issues where my development world clashes with me as an end user, should I create another apple account and if so how?

The video/audio display settings should set automatically for the best your TV can handle (720p AppleTV2, 1080p AppleTV3).
The download resolution for rentals or playback of purchases from the cloud is set in settings for iTunes store.
Sounds as though you have slow internet. For near instant streaming of video from iTunes store you need around:
Standard Definition     2.5 Mbps
720p HD                    6 Mbps
1080p HD                  8 Mbps
Any slower for a given quality setting and the movie has to buffer as it can't keep up in real time. This might be a few minutes if close to the rated speed or many hours, even overnight.
As pcd251s suggests you could test internet speed (speedtest.net on a computer for example). If that is fine, sometimes the LAN if on wifi can be extremely slow in certain locations - ethernet connections would troubleshoot that.
Slow internet is the common issue here. AppleTV does not have permanent storage and using it to play other content or browse trailers while a rental is buffering can reset the buffering process.   In such cases you might be better off planning in advance, renting in iTunes, letting the whole thing FULLY download and it will then be available across teh LAN to stream from computer to AppleTV under Computers>iTunes library name>Rentals.

Apple Authorised Reseller & Service Provider Store - Should they replace?

Hi There,
The silence button fell off my iphone 3G 8gb today, and ive been reading online to hear that apple will replace the phone for this, which is good news.
What isn't so good is that there isn't an apple store where i am, only a store which is an authorised reseller and authorised servicer centre. I called them to see if they will do this for me, and they informed me they wont. They gave me some story about havving to take it back to the carrier, which i think is rubbish as Apple is the provider of the phone to the carrier in the first place.
As an authorised reseller and service provider they should be able to replace it for me, no?
the problem is my warranty runs out on sunday and wont be back in the uk until monday.
Can someone help me with someinformation on this or point me int he direction of someone to contact on this?
If it this case it is there responsibilty to swap it for me i would like it in writing so i can take it with me to show them.
Please help!

From this, I assume you are not currently in the country in which you purchased the iPhone. iPhone warranty service is provided _only in the country in which the iPhone was purchased_. So, if a local AASP in a foreign country is telling you they won't replace your phone, they are correct. In fact, for example, even an Apple Store in the US would not service/replace an iPhone purchased in the UK.
You might try calling Apple Support - there's a Contact Us link at the bottom right of this page - and see if you can get a case initiated, so that when you take it in once you're back home, they will hopefully honor the warranty.
