Thank you for the question. It is common for people share an Apple ID for the iTunes and App Store. However, it is recommended that you use a separate Apple ID specifically for iMessage, Facetime and iCloud. The reason for this is because anyone that shares the same Apple ID for iMessage will receive all iMessages.

I have my main iCloud account for iTunes and Mail etc.
On my iPhone I seem to have initiated a secondary iCloud account with a different AppleID, yet receive emails to the other/same email account as the primary iCloud account on my Mac.
I have gone through every password ever used and simply cannot access the account. Also I have requested the password reset verification via email, that gets sent, but never arrives.
I can access both email accounts without a problem.
If anyone has an idea what to do it would be magnificent.

If you are unable to remember your password, security questions, don’t have access to your rescue address or are unable to reset your password for whatever reason, your only option is to contact AppleCare(or Apple ID Support), upon speaking to an operator you should explain that your problem is related to your Apple ID, this way you will not be charged for assistance, even if you don’t have an AppleCare plan. -
When I signed on at Christmas an update was available on my ipod classic. When I updated it...... it then crashed and when I took it to the store they dismissed it and said its a driver/hardware problem (which it didnt have before I updated it to the latest version) anyway its now dead.
I also have a nano that was purchased as a present for me and I want to add the nano to the same account but it wont let me as it was originally set up in a different account. I have tried to cancel/delete that account but it still wont let me add the new nano to the original account. Can anyone help wih this please?.http://www.apple.com/feedback

My husband purchased an iphone at xmas and evrything was fine until i purchased 1 yesterday . We both use the same email address which is linked to our itunes account (ithink) I registered mine yesterday and all my husbands contacts came on to my phone, so i deleted them and he lost them all on his phone :-( now if he adds or deletes anything i get it or the other way round please please helpIf you are saying that you both have iCloud accounts and use the same icloud ID, then yes, the contacts will be deleted. The idea is that all devices using the same icloud ID are kept in sync. You need to use different IDs. You can keep the same iTunes ID so you can share the songs and apps. But use different icloud IDs.

I have an iPhone 4 and a 4th gen iPod linked to the same email address and apple ID. I am trying to change the email address on the iPod so a family member can use it but when I do it says it doesn't recognize the email address. Where am I going wrong ? I just want them to be able to iMessage and email without having to use my email address.
The procedure is Settings>Messages>Send & Receive at>You can be reached by iMessages at>Add another email address. The email address has to be a valid working email address, obviously. Apple should verify the email address and you have to go to the inbox of that email account, read the verification email from Apple and follow the inductions in the email in order to complete the verification. Then you go back to the settings, uncheck your email address and check the new email address to be used as the contact email address.

I have two iMacs, an iPhone, and an iPad. All use the same email address but the new iMac would only let me set up the email account as an imap account. On this iMac I can only see three weeks worth of emails. On the other iMac, iPhone, and iPad, this email address is set up as a pop account and I can see emails as far back as three years. I use Yosemite on the new iMac and I cannot find out how to change the settings to let me see more than three weeks worth of emails. This is an att&t email account which is basically a Yahoo account.
Nope. It will reset all settings. For fix errors.
Or you can try Logging out and Restart your iPad and Sign in again. -
Hello can someone help me I have an iphone 4 and my daughter has an ipod touch we are on the same email address but somehow with in the last 25hrs all of my contacts are gone and only hers on on my phone is there a way for me to get all my contacts back?

IF you do find a backup that has your contacts; I'd /highly/ recommand turning off your wifi network after the restore is finished because if the issue is with your iCloud your contacts may merge back with her's.
With iCloud you DO NOT want to share the account; bad things happen Evil evil thigns...
But in all seriousness; if two devices have the same iCloud; iCloud is told to merge and sync infomation between hte two and can't tell that it doesn't belong to the same person -
My husband and I share an Itunes account so use the same email address and password. Our iphones are now connected and we get each other's messages and share each other's contacts. How can we stop this happening?
A couple of different approached:
Create a second AppleID for one of you that includes the email address and phone number you wish to use for messaging, but do not apply it to the iTunes and app store (just keep the current one). My wife and I do this and it works quite well. Also allows for easier syncing of Contacts , notes etc. using icloud if you wish to do that.
Add additional emails/phone numbers to the existing account and change the Send/Receive settings for Messages. this will not fix the Contcts isues for you however. -
iMessage wants to reset and won't take the same email address because it already in use.
You got the iLife DVD with your machine. Use it to install iPhoto and software update to get it to the newest version.

When I try to use iMessage on my iPad my phone number doesnt come up, only my email address does. HELP !!!!!!
It is OK to use the same apple id on multiple devices. That is how it was intended to be used. The phone number used must be a number registered on an iPhone. I receive imessages and face time calls on my iPad, iPhone and imac. Sometimes the email addresses and iPhone numbers don't properly register on all device. Logging out and back in on all devices can fix the issue.
Now with the release of ios 8 other compatible Apple devices can use the iPhone over a WiFi network to send and receive vioce calls as well. -

ThanksAn icloud account is designed to be used by one user. That user can have all his/her devices synced with the same Apple data (email, contacts, calendars, notes, reminders, etc.) . When two people use the same account, then problems usually occur when one user edits data that the other user doesn't want changed on their device. You can continue sharing the same ID for the itunes account in order to share the purchased music, apps, etc. itunes accounts and icloud accounts are different.
It's by far better that each user has his/her own icloud account. -
because i can not use the Canadian card to redeem in my account from USA. should i delete an account and create the new one that should valid in Canada by using the same email address? or what should i do? (i really want to use my recent email)

make seperate appleID's if you wish to be frinds or if you wish to facetime video chat and if you wish to not recieve the samme imessage msg's unless you turn it off
you can still set both your iphones to use an email address even if both have different appleId's

I've set up my daughters ipod touch last year all fine. She's had a mini this yr but when setting up facetime and entering her email address, which is used on the touch, I get an error message saying the address is already being used.
I thought you can use the same email address on multiple devices.I have four different email addresses setup on my Mac, iPod Touch and my two iPads that I can select from and use as the email address with no problems at all.
Turn off FaceTime, and sign out of the Apple ID in the FaceTime settings, restart the iPad and try again. Turn FaceTime on again, sign in with the Apple ID and then try the email address again. -

I have unlinked all my devices from an old sync account and setup a new sync. In this process I have used the same email address as before.
I have no use of my old sync account, therefore the question is:
Can I delete the old sync account (via https://account.services.mozilla.com/ ) and - implicitly - all data associated with it without affecting my new Firefox account (and its data) in any way?
