HT1689 Free song of the week button won't work

I have ipad 2 on iOS 6 and currently can't d,load free song of week or get the freebies on the 12 days of Christmas app. The free button is simply greyed out and doesn't activate when I click on it.
Have been through settings with husband on his ipad and his works fine. Can anyone help please?
I should mention that for some reason I can still get at other free apps on App Store but these are annoying me pls help!

Smart Playlist JUST for 'Free Songs of the Week?'

I would like to create a Smart playlist comprising exclusively the 'Free Songs of the Week' from the iTunes Store. So when I get the weekly 'Free Song,' it goes right into that list. But I need some sort of 'unique identifier' that allows this to happen, and I can't seem to find one. I go under all the 'View Options' and nothing seems to 'tag' these songs as unique, so I can't set up a Smart Playlist that includes just those songs.
Is there a way to do this?

The iTunes Store doesn't tag the free tracks any differently from any other track that I can see, so I can think of no automatic way to put just the free tracks into a playlist. You could, though, put "free" or something similar in the Comments section when you download one of the free items, and then have a Smart Playlist that looked for "free" in the Comments. That's the only way I can think of to accomplish what you want. That wouldn't be any easier than just dragging the free tracks to a normal playlist, but would allow you to have future Smart Playlists that process the free tracks.

Thanks King Penguin. Yeah free song of week is missing from australian itunes store this week. I spent hours looking for it before i gave up. I usually check it out every week. Last weeks one was pretty gay though, it was a christmas song, was nice, but not for me

What happened to free song of the week? I no longer see it on the right side. I used to listen to it then select it to download and now no longer see it. Anyone knows were to find the free single of the week.

You can try this.
Calibrate the home button
1. Open a stock iOS app, such as Contacts
2. Press & hold the sleep/wake button at the top of your device until the red slider control appears.
3. Immediately release the sleep/wake button and press & hold the home button. Hold until the red slider disappears.
As a a workaround, you can use Multitasking Gestures if you can't get the home button to work.

However, you might want to try restoring the iPad to see if that returns the functionality of the home button and/or take it to an Apple Store and let a Genius have a look at it.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

ITunes Latino Free Song of the Week???

Hi there! Just wondering if iTunes is no longer offering a iTunes Latino song of the week... Just got my iPod for Christmas and was really enjoying them since then until today when I see the same free song in iTunes and iTunes Latino...
Think it'd only be fair to put a song in Spanish on iTunes Latino...

Can the free songs of the week be found on the wifi store?

I am having trouble finding the free songs through the wifi store. Are they not directly available on the touch?

It's not featured or anything like in iTunes, but you can find the free song by searching for it.

The hold button won't work and this morning i cracked the screen!!

I was wondering if anyone can help me! The hold switch on my ipod nano does not work, or is very slow. It only works if I press down very hard on the hold button. This is of course very frustrating!
However, just this morning I cracked the screen.I know that cracked screens are accidental damage and are therefore not covered by warranty, but the hold button was not working before the screen was cracked- it is just bad luck that this has happened before sending my ipod off to Apple to see if they can resolve the issue.
Does anyone know if it is possible to get the hold-button issue fixed even though the screen is cracked? I am a bit of a disaster area with electrical goods, having cracked the screen of my laptop and of my phone in the past!

The free song option went away with the new year. Has it moved or is it gone?

Probably gone, although Apple doesn't tend to explain to anyone what they're doing at any given moment, so who knows.

I deleted the Free song of the week, but it keeps coming back!

I downloaded a free song, decided I didn't want it and deleted. But with iCloud, it keeps coming back. It messes with my smart playlists to have this song keep popping up. Any way to fix without turning off auto downloads? Thanks

You must have an iCloud account, and on the iPhone gone to Settings > iCloud and turned ON Find My Phone. Then login to the iCloud account, click Find My Phone and IF the iPhone is turned on and connected to the internet it will show up.
If any one of those steps is missing it will not show up.
If you get a message that you have not registered it with iCloud, then you did not turn on Find My Phone on the iPhone.
There is no other way of trackng the device.

If my iPod Touch 4G is under warranty, can Apple repair or replace it if the home button won't work?

I've had my iPod Touch 4G for about 10 months now so the warranty is still in affect. The home button appears to be stuck or won't work anymore. I can press down on it and I hear a click but it's inresponsive. I've already looked up and tried numerous things to fix it, but nothing works. I have assistive touch but ever since I started using it, apps close or freeze within minutes of opening it.
If I bring it to an apple store or send it in, can they fix the home button or replace my itouch?

This issue can be caused by an extension (McAfee SiteAdvisor) that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
