I am a fairly new apple user, just got the new ipad, as part of an evaluation program. I recently did an iOS update and now keep getting the error message:cannot connect to iTunes Store... I tried date changing - no good ... The only thing that worked was to change the DNS setting to 0.0.0.0 as described in another thread. This fix for a day and now still getting the same error message and DNS setting changes do nothing. I have tried the reset method several times to no avail. I'm beginning tho think the ipad wasn't a great idea.... Apple need to attend to this. Like many, I have already wasted too much time looking for a fix. I am part of an IT in education group that will soon be recommending a specific hardware and OS. Could result in the loss of thousands of ipad sales for apple ....
Anyhow... All or any suggestions are welcome :)

Also, I've just learned that I can connect to download new apps, but cannot update any apps I've downloaded in the past. How might I go about connecting my reset apple ID with its history from before it was reset? I assume that is the biggest issue.

What finally worked was resetting my AppleID password so that it met the new password requirements. I suppose it's worth trying that.

Try logging out of your account on the iPhone by tapping on your id in Settings > Store and then log back in and see if it then works.
If that doesn't solve it then what has worked for some people is going into Settings > General > Date & Time and change the date to a few months (or maybe a year or two) in the future and then re-trying

Thanks schan20, this worked perfect. I closed all apps, double tapping home key from home screen, turned set date and time automatically off, clicked set daate and time, changed year to 2014. I then opened updates on apps and got the security message, went back to set date and time, turned on set automatically, opened app store back up (did not force close after security message) , got to loading and had 21 apps to update
Not sure what caused this initially; but some things I had done in the past were, I had set date and time auto off, I had changed the date and time numerous times in a row for the game deer hunter reloaded to get gold, most of the time stopping around August each time. Other than that, I have not made any major changes or added any apps when it stopped working.

There's an issue currently that a lot of us are experiencing in that we all get the error message "iTunes is currently unavailable; please try later"

I've posted a topic in regards to this after having a long conversation with Apple support this morning and will be receiving a call from their tech team tomorrow to run through it further
As it stands iTunes cannot be accessed via ATV's and nor can it be streamed via AirPlay from iTunes to the ATV
However I can access all films/iCloud content via my Mac Mini with no issues!

Ahhhhhhh I am go glad I am not the only one having this problem!! It started 2 weeks ago when I changed my Apple ID because it used to be my college email address (which is about to expire because I graduated) and I had to change my ID to another email address. Try a reset, hold the home/sleep button until the device powers off then powers back on and you see the apple logo. Release when you see the apple logo and allow it to finish booting. Once it is done try updating your apps again.

I am guessing there is an issue with the store right now considering so many people are having the same problem on different platforms.
