HT1689 I think my iPhone has an email worm. What to do?

An email worm on my iPhone! My phone sent mass, recurring emails. What do I do?

It is not your phone that is compromised but your email account. Make sure you change your email password.

  • What do I do if I think my Iphone has been hacked?

I think my iphone has been hacked ... how can I know for sure... I believe they may have gotten my contacts.... who knows what else?

I was also hacked this week on my 4S.  As improbable as everyone at Apple may say, it did happen.  I am pretty good with technology.  My kids had my iPhone 7 years old and they went to a website that without my knowing, allowed so done to take control of my device.  I had the phone on charging and connected via wifi.  I heard in the middle of the night someone talking and then a fax machine but thought I was dreaming. I turned over and went back to sleep not looking at my phone.
Next morning I wake up and the screen is on maps?  I panicked and realized a bunch of SMS txts and also some emails went out. In checking my call log, bingo... A bunch of calls over a 4 hour period.  I started to delete anything suspect but really didn't know what to do. I then called all my banks and credit card accounts to out them on high alert.
I called apple and they begin to say that this is a software glitch, clearly they were not listening.  I went to the apple store and spoke with a supposed genius who suggested the same thing.  Finally, I explained it to a level 2 person and they suggested wiping the phone clean by resetting it and reinstalling everything fresh.  I still have no way of knowing what was accessed or downloaded and more scary, neither does apple.
When I asked if there was an app, they couldn't suggest anything saying that by default the iPhone is secure and encrypted yet here I am with a remote accessed situation on my hands.
    Any ideas... Anyone?

My Iphone has family emails that appear randomly when I try to update apps or generally have to log into my account. It comes up as my sister in laws address. She was once connected to our account when she got her phone at first. How can I remove? There are only two other email address's associated with my account and hers was never one of them! I do have a cloud set up on my phone. I thought this issue had gone away when I canged my passwords, but I just registered a new phone yesterday and its happening again!
    Can anyone help me?

Apps are permanently tied to the Apple ID used to purchase them, and all future updates will require you to enter the password associated with this ID, whether you are currently using this ID for purchases or not.  If you are being prompted for your sister-in-law's Apple ID when updating it means that there must be one or more apps on your phone that was purchased using her Apple ID.  (When she synced with your computer it may have transferred this app to your library.  It was subsequently synced to your phone.)  The only way to stop the prompt for her ID is to delete these apps from your phone and your iTunes library and repurchase them using your Apple ID.

Last night, I saw my iPhone on the table in front of me and twice it made phone calls on its own.  I just watched it make the outgoing call as it sat in front of me.  Should I think that it has a virus? What should I do about it?
Also, it's been a little quirky lately: slow to respond to key pad touching and making it impossible to delete Apps?
Should I try wiping it and restoring it to factory settings?
    Thank you.
    Ben

    It isn't a virus.
I would try the Restore from backup first and if that does not help try a Restore as a new iPhone.

What should I do to get rid of the double emails. And stop receiving duplicate emails in the future.

what kind of email provider are you using? (gmail, yahoo, comcast) And check your mail settings to make sure mobile me didnt mess up and add your email twice.

My iphone has been stlone!what should i do?

IF you installed the "Find my iPhone" app in your iCloud account BEFORE it was stolen and reg'd the service, you can track it.
If not, you can't do anything.
    Hope this helps

  • HT201401 I changed my pass code and couldn't remember the new pass code. After several failed attempts, my iPhone has been disabled. What do I do?

I changed my pass code and couldn't remember the new pass code. After several failed attempts, my iPhone has been disabled. What do I do?

If you forgot (or don't know) your passcode, restore the device from backup on the last computer it was synced with when the passcode was turned on... this will remove the passcode. If you do not have access to the last computer it was synced with, you will have to force it into recovery mode & restore as a new device.

  • I don't remember the answer to my security questions and I keep requesting that they be sent in an email but I don't think it's the right email.  What can I do??

I want to buy a game but I have to verify my account.  I don't remember the answers to my security questions and I think the answers are being sent to another email.  What can I do?  How can I change my answers or change my questions??  Or even just find out what my answers are??

The Three Best Alternatives for Security Questions and Rescue Mail
       1. Use Apple's Express Lane.
Go to https://expresslane.apple.com ; click 'See all products and services' at the
bottom of the page. In the next page click 'More Products and Services, then
'Apple ID'. In the next page select 'Other Apple ID Topics' then 'Forgotten Apple
ID security questions' and click 'Continue'. Please be patient waiting for the return
phone call. It will come in time depending on how heavily the servers are being hit.
    2.  Call Apple Support in your country: Customer Service: Contact Apple support.
    3.  Rescue email address and how to reset Apple ID security questions.
A substitute for using the security questions is to use 2-step verification:

  • HT2534 My iPhone has 2 email addresses but I only need one. How do I erase the other email address and simply use my main one. The other account is connected to another device so I do not need both addresses

    Hi,
My mom and I have Apple devices (she has an iPhone 3G, and I have an iPod touch) .. I noticed that some of her apps require my password to my Apple ID and some of the other apps require her password for her Apple ID. When she first bought the phone, I used my Apple ID to download those apps since she was new to the Apple community. However, whenever she gets new updates, those apps still need my password (even though I've erased my account from her phone). Is there any possible way for her to update all of her apps using only one ID (hers) instead of using mine? It's very troublesome and I don't want to give her my password because she'll only end up losing it.
If anyone can answer this question, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Sorry for the delayed response, yes i want to use my university account when replying to all emails.  Note i just discovered something, when i forward my university email to my icloud account and than responded from either my imac of my macbook air (i.e. in icloud) it automatically goes to my university account in the "from" space (good news!!!).  That is just what i wanted, .  While that is the good news, the bad news is that my iphone and ipad still treat this email as being from icloud even though it is forwarded (redirected) from my university account.  That is when i respond to an email (or for that matter create a new email in my icloud account) it automatically lists the icloud account as the "from" account and i have to go in and manually modify it.  So i am 50% there to solving my problem (i.e. actually did nothing the systems just worked well) but i still need to figure out a way to make this happen on my ipad and iphone. Any help or suggestions, note the default button in the iphone and ipad for email work differently than the default in the composition menu of the imac or macair.

  • Hi. My iPhone has stopped emailing weblinks

Hi. I regularly email links from safari (using the share button at the bottom of the safari screen). Also regularly email links from my rrs reader app, and from Twitter. Last week strangely this functionality stopped working -I think it coincided with when I did the latest software update but I'm not certain.
So now when on safari, or reader app I click 'share' and 'email link' (and the email window opens as usual, where I enter recipients name) I click send and the email window closes (as normal, as if email has gone) but in actual fact nothing has gone at all - nothing in sent box, out box or received by recipient.
In the Twitter app, when I open a weblink I get do now at least get an error message when I try to email using the share button within the client (top right of the screen) so I know it's not working but from safari and reader no alert at all.
    Can anyone help?

Get a new SIM from the carrier. Carrier will associate the contract with it.

  • Help! I think my iPhone has been hacked!?

Hi, my friend and i have been texting back and fourth between imessage and text, assuming bad service, we both have iPhone 4S, we both live in Ontario, Canada, but right now she is visiting Nashville, TN. All of the sudden I get a text message from her number that is Chinese writing?!
It showed up on my phone but when she sent me a screen shot of our conversation from her end,
It doesn't show it's there? Have I been hacked? I tried to translate the Chinese text but it hardly makes sense, this is what showed up.
    " 浥獳慧攠Ԡ瑯′㈶㤸㤳㌴〠獵捣敥摥搮"
"Hui eyelid redness Yì Ԡ neighbors' ㈶ sauce ㌴ 〠 Bei Yan Lie dǎo staying Museum"
I tried to translate it to English, but that's all I got.
    Please help!!!
    -Bail

Receiving a weird message is not an indication of hacking - at least not on the recipient's end.  The issue in this story is, "Why did her phone send that message to you?"  Even better, "What message (if any) was she trying to send?"  Either there is an issue on the network, or some third party has figured out a way to send messages using someone else's number.

  • I think my iPhone has been stolen. How do I know if Find My iPhone has been turned on?

I'm not sure if I set up Find My iPhone. It is showing up in Find my iPhone, but as offline. Would it show up if I never set it up? Or does this mean its probably been turned off. I last had it within wifi and data should be turned on as well.

If offline, that means Find My Phone was setup/activated. One of the first things a thief will do is turn an iPhone off, thus defeating Find My Phone.
Report the loss to the Police, your carrier & Insurance company. Change all of your passwords, especially Apple ID & Mail.

  • I think my iPhone has been accessed without my permission. How do I know for sure.?

I have been having issues in my laptops for weeks. They are blatantly being accessed remotely and now it seems like they've  gotten into my phone. Just because my wireless network is changing without my permission and my data logs show that programs and apps are being accessed when I haven't accessed them. Does iPhone run through apps daily even if they're not installed?  Also . I saw video.toolbox which I understand(correct me if I'm wrong) is used on jailbroken phones. I don't have anything incriminating to hide on my phone or otherwise. But the invasion of privacy is sickening. Also. What about my passwords and financial info???  Please help me block this user and keep my info safe. Unless of course I'm being paranoid because of my laptop.
