When you're listening to a podcast, slide the current artwork up from the bottom, and you will reveal the control panel. Adjust the little switch in the middle so that it is pointing North, instead of Northwest. That will fix your problem.

Sort Order of All Unplayed Episodes

The sort order of all unplayed episodes is from Newest to Oldest, which is backwards for me.
Why would I listen to the Newest episode first? It completely breaks any chronology of the podcasts!
I found that you can change this for individual podcasts if you find the details by clicking on the podcast title to open its preferences, but the big list does not have the option.
Please, give me the option to ORDER THE UNPLAYED EPISODES OLDEST AT TOP TO NEWEST AT BOTTOM!

The podcasts will duplicate themselves on your device. I turned off podcast syncing on my devices. But the weird thing is that when I sync, podcasts then copy themselves to my iTunes library. Either sync or don't, but don't copy to both.

Unplayed Episodes/Stations- how to choose to begin playing oldest unplayed episode?

The release notes say this is an option but I can't figure out how. (The only options in settings are "my podcast" order, most recent and manual- but I don't see any way to manually adjust the order, either.)
Also, apparently there is no way to get a list of unplayed episodes by episode? The "unplayed" station groups them by podcast- but I don't want to listen to all unplayed episodes of a single podcast in a row.

they seem to have thrown out most of the stuff they fixed after we complained about it with the first version.
my app is also showing "unplayed" undownloaded eps... I'm not setup to subscribe and download on my ipod it is network off most of the time anyway. I have itunes checking through the day so I can get my stack of new shows when I sync after work.

Syncing all unplayed episodes

Does anyone have this happening.
You have iTunes set up to sync all unplayed episodes of podcasts but this doesnt seem to work with the video podcasts, I have to also listen to them to get them removed from the sync as well as view them.
Is there a way round this without using smart folders.

Same problem, checked "Sync Unplayed" and the video podcasts are still left on iPod after being viewed. But good to know that if you play them as music helps

Keep all unplayed episodes - bug?

Hi everybody!
My iPod/iTunes7 is killing me. I have selected "Keep: All unplayed episodes" in the iTunes podcast options because I want iTunes to automatically delete all podcasts that I have listened to on my iPod.
If I manually mark a podcast as "played" in iTunes7 it does what I want; deletes that podcast from my iPod.
But it doesn't work the other way. If I listen to a podcast on my iPod (and the podcast is marked as played on the iPod), the podcast is reset to unplayed on both the ipod and in iTunes on first sync.
This is annoying!
Please advice!
I've tried restoring my iPod, and I've also installed the latest iPod-update.

Apple Podcast app won't display past episodes of The Rachel Maddow Show. Does anybody know why you can only listen to the episode from the last day, and then it disappears?

I love the Rachel Maddow Show but rarely get to watch it on TV. So I rely on the podcasts to listen to every day. I've been using Stitcher but Apple's more recent Podcast app has much better functionality (downloading episodes to listen to on the subway & plane, for instance). However, for some reason (and it appears to only be TRMS podcasts), the Apple Podcast app ONLY displays the last episode. For some reason, each day, the last episode disappears from the app.

Same here! Older episodes don't necessarily disappear as soon as new ones come in; sometimes I have a few episodes on the iPhone, and can listen to them normally. But then I'll look later, and all but the latest will have disappeared. I'll have to start paying attention to discover what triggers the wipe; my guess is that syncing with iTunes does it, but I don't know yet.
Whatever the cause, it's odd. I thought that perhaps queued episodes would stick around if I partially listened to them (thus ensuring that they get actually downloaded, I'd think), but partially-viewed episodes and unviewed episodes both disappear. I can understand that an episode that never got downloaded might become unavailable after a day or few, but why would one already downloaded get automatically erased?
It's also worth noting that I don't have the problem in iTunes on the Mac. Episodes there stick around in the normal fashion. The problem is just on my iPhone, and just with this one podcast.
If anyone knows what's up, please tell!

"Keep: all unplayed episodes" doesn't work all the time ???

I subscribe to a couple of podcasts. I have my settings set to "Keep: all unplayed episodes". This setting works just fine on 90% of my podcasts, but on two, the only way for podcasts I've of which I've listed to disapper is if I delete them manually. Does anyone else have this problem? How do I fix it? I've tried unsubscribing and resubscribing, but that doesn't do the trick.

If you have a external USB enclosure - trying installing your hard drive in that enclosure and connect it to your usb port - restart your macbook while holding down the options key. If you Macbook boots to your desktop then you have a faulty cable. If you get the same error, then your hard drive just died on you.

Can I sort my Podcasts on my IPOD, NANO by episode from oldest to newest and if so how?

I have an Apple, IPOD, NANO, purchased in 2009:
Problem: I would like to have a Podcast Playlist sort podcast episodes from oldest to newest broadcast date; I have done so on my P.C. based ITunes player and have synced same to my IPOD NANO; however, when I do so the podcasts on my IPOD NANO are not sorted from oldest to newest; rather, from newest to oldest.
Question Summary: Can I sort my Podcasts on my IPOD, NANO by episode from oldest to newest and if so how?

You can try changing the the password for your iCloud account that may work.
Otherwise you will have to get him to sign out of Messages by go to Settings>Messages>Send and receive and tap your Apple ID and then tap signout.

Any fix for the Apple podcast app starting to play after a missed phone call?

I have the apple podcast app and every time i receive a missed call, after the call the audio from the app starts playing. I have an iphone 4 with ios 6.

Podcast app not displaying all synced files

One of my feeds is displaying only one file, even if multiple files are synced. I'm trying to play "This American Life," where I have downloaded the files manually and I import them into iTunes and convert them to a Podcast type. Then, I sync them to my iPhone 4.
What's happening is that I'll have one file displayed, e.g., "511" but none other. In iTunes, however, I have synced many files: 511, 510, 509, and so on. However, they are not displayed in the podcast app. However, when I search for the files in ios, they appear searchable, but clicking on them only opens the podcast app to This American Life where there is only one file displayed.
So far I've resynced podcasts many, many times. I've uninstalled the app from both the iPhone and iTunes, selected "Do not sync podcasts" and then reinstalled everything and attempted to only sync one file at a time. I've restarted my phone multiple times and I've updated to 7.0.4, all of which have no effect.
Anyone have any ideas?

Were all your items musibc, movies, tv shows etc all bought through the same apple id. Sometimes you may need to authorise that computer with the additional apple id.

First check your login items under your user account and make sure that they are not selected to load. Then make sure that when you restart or shutdown that you don't have the "reopen windows..." checkbox ticked.
